Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??

I read on a forum archive that CHRIS sparred with ROY at MORRIS PARK ABC in NYC in about 1988 ?? apparently CHRIS was visiting family and friends at easter and ROY had been working with michael olajide and dennis milton ?

They say it was brief and CHRIS made ROY miss alot and they met up again over a yr later at finsbury park at benn/watson fight

Who knows more about this or if its true ?

We all know chris had excellent stamina

CHRIS had god damn awful stamina, which is y he could never of beaten JONES JNR over 12 rounds

EUBANK would of only won the first 4 rounds against ROY, once ROY figured him out it would prolly of been abit one way traffic

Not heard this one before, I know Jones Jr sparred with NABF champ Ronnie Essett and IBF champ Lindell Holmes before turning pro. I know Eubank and Ronnie Essett were part of Bomber Graham's camp for the McCallum fight, but didn't spar eachother, Eubank apparently floored Bomber for the first in his life.

I don't know anything about Jones Jr and Eubank sparring..

I do know that Jones Jr was in the 'supertent' though (for Benn/Watson) because he exhanged phone numbers with Mica Paris, Benn/Watson was on NBC in the States and Jones Jr turned pro on that TV station.. they probably wanted to get Jones Jr in there with Benn?

What's pretty damn interesting is that Mica Paris is Eubank's cousin

Anyway, I have heard Eubank say before that he's only ever spoke with Jones Jr at the New York press conference for the Benn rematch and at the Hamed/Barrera fight. I've never heard that he sparred with Jones Jr, but then again I never knew he sparred with Bomber Graham until recently.

As for a Jones Jr and Eubank bout, I think Eubank would of caused him a lot of problems but his low activity level wouldn't of won him too many rounds.

No, sorry, his second pro bout was on NBC, not his debut. NBC wanted to sign him up but Jones Jr's daddy wouldn't let him because he saw exactly what happened to Nigel Benn who had too much too soon (Benn was driving around London in a Porsche in his first year as a pro, when a year earlier he was catches buses everywhere - when he could afford the fares).

I also remember that every time he fought that week, when the previous fight would end, he would come in the ring and begin loosening up. They hadn't even read the score cards of the previous bout yet and Roy would already be up in the ring while his opponent would still be outside the ring waiting for the guys that just got done fighting to get out.

In Amateur Boxing, the rules are very set and one is that you cannot enter the ring until both boxers from the previous bout have left the ring. I remember thinking "Who does this guy think he is"? Nobody ever said anything to him, though, and he did it every night. Sometimes I think back and I think it gave him a mental edge over his opposition that week. It was like he owned the place and that carried over from his confident attitude.

Yep, Eubank and Jones Jr were very similar. I always thought Hamed and Jones Jr etc stole from Eubank and tried to be like Eubank.. but it seems Jones Jr was always like that (reading that).
