Like he looked to me (a Brit by the way) before the Collazo fight, an ugly, brawling wrestler who has been WAY overratted.
Honestly I don't think his win over Tyszu meant a whole lot more than Danny Williams over Mike Tyson, Tyszu was in the downward spiral as evidenced by his subsequent retirement.
Well I give him more credit than Williams win over Tyson for his win over Tzyu thats for sure, but he hasn't done a hell of a lot since then. Despite HBO hoping Mosley would lose, he didn't, he dominated the fight and looked great. Doesn't it feel good to be right Bilbo?
Did you get the sense that HBO wanted MOsley to lose?? Still havent' seen the fight, what were they saying?
I ask myself do I want to tell you about it? Especially after all the shat you have talked about Mayorga you little bastard...
But let bygones be bygones so...
Yeah HBO were little bitches as usual. They have never liked Mosley since he beat their boy toy Oscar. So Emmanuel Stewart was talkin shat like "Collazo is just as fast as Shane". And Just a punch of positive crap for Collazo and little for Mosley. They repeated numerous times that the 3-1 odds on Mosley bein the favorite were bullshat and how much of a live underdog Collazo was. Then after about 4 or 5 rounds, they jumped ship, saw that Collazo was gettin beat, and started prasing Shane. They are bitches. True Bitches.

Hey, just call them as I see them. I won't even mention Mayorga anymore since your the only member on the forum who thinks anything of him anyways :lickish:.. I wonder why HBO would want Collazo to win though, I guess young blood.. But still, it's not as if there aren't any potential superfights MOsley could be a part of.. Are they really trying to sell Hatton that badly I wonder? Seems odd to me. CC for deciding to tell me though.....

Lol thats a classic . . . and to think , I used to respect Stwarts opinion . Now I just think he is deluded .
Re: if luis beats mosley will that make hattons victory over collazo twice as good ?
CC to both of you, Bilbo and Mayorga hater. Mosley looked damn good last night. And yes, HBO is trying to sell Hatton pretty badly, they made a big investment on his ass, and he's been a bit of a disapointment so far.

Wow, I've never gotten the sense at all that HBO is anti-Mosley. It's always been obvious that Mosley is one of Merchant's favorite fighters, and I've never sensed any strong anti-Mosley bias from Lampley either.
They were stressing that Collazo was a live underdog because:
1. Most people did think he was a live underdog.
2. They'd be foolish to not predict a competitive fight. Who wants to tune in if a fight is billed as a mismatch?
Steward's comments may have been off the mark, but that doesn't signal at all that HBO "wanted Mosley to lose." Why would HBO want Mosley to lose? They can make a lot more money off Mosley fights than they can from Collazo fights.

What you say makes sense about them biling it as a competitive fight so people will tune in. But HBO don't like Mosley. They would have loved Collazo to beat him, finish his career, and make Hatton look all the better, all in one foul swoop. Thats just the kind of little bitches they are my friend. Listen to them in the Vargas fights, up until it was evident Vargas had no chance, they were NOT givin Shane much credit.

yeah it's basic HBO tactics... Ride the fence in hopes one fighter will pull something off, don't give the opponent any credit until it's almost positive that he will win.
Re: if luis beats mosley will that make hattons victory over collazo twice as good ?
Man...people will ALWAYS complain about commentating. Mosley is part of HBO's big 9. Their 9 top fighters. Wlad, Mayweather, DLH, Taylor and Pacquiao among a few others. Collazo is just a guy who has happened to fought a couple times on HBO. Why would they want one of their premiere fighters to lose? So Manny though Collazo was as fast as Mosley. He was wrong.
They talked about Luis making it competitve because they thought he would. I thought he would. A whole hell of a lot of people thought he would. Does that mean I was rooting against Mosley? They praised Shane because he put on a good performance. So? Where's the deal?

I don't see the logic in this at all. Why would HBO want Mosley to lose? HBO stands to make millions off a potential Mosley-Mayweather fight. Luis Collazo is never going to be as marketable as Mosley. You think HBO would root for Collazo to beat Mosley, even though they won't make anywhere near as much money off future Collazo fights as they could with future Mosley fights? That makes no sense.
And frankly, I didn't give Mosley much credit either in the Vargas fights, because Vargas is a walking corpse.
HBO has a vested interest in Mosley, that's why they've been airing his fights for a decade.
Re: if luis beats mosley will that make hattons victory over collazo twice as good ?
people keep saying "HBO don't like this HBO want that" is larry the lapley guy and whom else are talking? what 'HBO' is saying/doing something that screams HBO hate mosley? coz from watching, and reading about merchant and lampley, them seem to be to guys who really don't give to fucks for HBO and will speak thier mind, hell mayweather is a HBO fighter fight? makes HBO a shit load of money? but merchant slates him any god given chance he gets...

It's a bit different though.. They rag on Mayweather because a) they've already got him under contract, and b) they need him to be entertaining for them to get their moneys worth, or at least from their standpoint. No matter how much they slate him they are always careful to make sure they include that he is the no.1 p4p, so it still generates interest either way.. People just getting in to boxing may then want to see him lose. You watch some De La Hoya fights and tell me Lampley speaks his mind. Better yet watch Jermain Taylors fights with Hopkins or Wright. Lampley rides their nutsacks so hard it's disgusting. "The best punch of the fight!", or "look at that combination", and nothing will have landed. Not a damn thing.

Wouldn't it be an incredible irony if HBO decided to 'vacate' their contract with Hatton on the grounds that they were only interested in getting the big fights :P

Hopkins is a big draw for HBO and Merchant and gang have run him down numerous times. The commentators are bias little bitches. Face it.
