Re: I F'N F'N F'N HATTTTEEE Spiders!!
Me too nasty little things they are...I live in the country and have an old farm house we are renovating...we have a ton of the F******......No matter how many times we spray and remove them they just seem to keep coming......
Here is a tip...leave the daddy long legs alone if you have a lot of them....other spiders and even other bugs such as ants or mesquitos will stay away as much as possible because the daddy long legs feed off of them
Re: I F'N F'N F'N HATTTTEEE Spiders!!
I hate them as well. There was a baby one crawling on the wall in my room a few months ago and i missed it so it flew onto a pile of clothes and disappeared. Its probably pretty big at this point if it's still alive, hopefully it didn't make it :-\

In the last week I have found 5 in my (messy) room... 2 white tails have been crawling in the clothes that I was going to be putting on within a day or 2....
It's summer in Australia.. And that makes it spider season.. >:mad >:mad >:mad >:mad
BUTTTTT here is the main reason for this post......
I just went out to my car to grab something out of the trunk.... I turned on my outside light as it's 9:20pm so it's just getting dark. I begin my shirtless (it's 85 degrees this evening) stroll down the driveway past my mums car and approached mine.
As I reach about the start of my rear door, only a metre or 2 left in my journey, I feel some spider webs clinging onto my arms. Instinctively I immediately reach to grab and pull at thin air on my arms to remove the webs....BUT...it was already to late..... I had not even removed a single thread of web from my arm, before I realise their is a fucking great big dirty black hairy creepy spindly spider darting across the front of my chest...
Over the next 20 seconds, while managing to stay on my feet, my arms, legs, head and torso span, twirled, threw, cortorted and jumped into what would have been at least 1000 different positions one after another until not only I was sure the spider was gone, but every single creepy crawly feeling I had over my entire body was gone as well....
Did I say I FUCKEN HATE SPIDERS!!???!?!?!!!
My car had been parked their no longer than 2 hours... But in that time this creepy, asshole, intrusive, rude, arrogent, cheeky THOUGHTLESS f'khole of a creature had already strung up a new home between my car, and a bush that sits along the edge of my driveway.....
It was a perfect setup to catch any HUMAN that wanted to come to our house... They would have had to walk straight past my car, and hence straight through the middle of this assholes web... But to be honest, I am SURE this setup was really designed,,, so strategically, to catch ME...
Now let me ask you,,,,, Where do these F'King useless creatures get off?????
So it's with that question,,,,
That I hereby declare A WAR, against the entire population of spiders that chooses to take up residence ANYWHERE near my house....
- I've decided first phase of my attack plan is to go to the hardware store tomorrow and purchase a complete arsenal of random weaponary to begin taking the fight to THEM!!
This race has had their way, on my block of land for WAY tooooo long...
NOT ANYMORE FUCKERS!!!!!
O0 !!! IT'S ON !!! O0
i feel ya mate, i fooking hate them with a passion. just the other day i was sitting on the shi!ter, went for the toilet paper roll on the floor and a funnel web crawled out of it. lets just say i severly shat myself and promptly killed that fucker

so maybe the key to this whole problem is to BREED daddy long legs!

Hee Hee I showed this to my partner and she just said "what aren't these guys supposed to be tough boxing guys? And they are scared of little spiders? " She likes spiders, wont kill them we have lots of the daddy long legs around and even our youngest daughter now is cool with them. They do seem to keep the other ones away. Apparently we have lots of red backs in the roof though. I dont go up there.

Well thing is they are harmless....and they don't bite people.....they get the others caught in their web..( even other spiders because there is something about their web that makes it hard for the others to move in...watched some thing on PBS about them....then they just feed off the other insects...crazy stuff...don't like any spiders but I guess if you had to pick between the lesser of two evils

Everyone fears something, so don't sweat it ICE. Some people that know I'm terrified of flying and roller coasters think I'm silly, but they themselves get real silly when I ask them to stand in a room with a 6 ft. cobra who is standing, hooding up. To each their own. People usually fear things they don't understand.
Re: I F'N F'N F'N HATTTTEEE Spiders!!
Seriousley the only things that freak me out are Wasps and Bees big time. I really cannot stand the little fuckers anywhere near me and when you lash out at them the bastards come and sting you >:mad

Re: I F'N F'N F'N HATTTTEEE Spiders!!
We have no bad bugs, spiders, snakes at all.
When I went to America I was in Florida, right next to this beautiful little woods. After day onethe rules had been established. If they stayed in there they were fine. If I stayed out I was fine. But if they came out there would be blood spilt.

We have a lot of daddly long legs as well. I didn't mention them as I didn't think America or UK has them.. That was what I tried to kill originally behind my bed, but as soon as I'd chased him away, all the baby white tails came running out... So either they were running scared as well, or they were ready to party after I got rid of their enemy.....
I'm not actually particularly scared of those.. As i've heard the don't bite and aren't dangerous,,, and you can barely even call them a spider when you think of how the look compared to the ones I AM scared of... So if I see a daddy long legs around the house I will leave them alone.. They are always behind my bed and probably for days or weeks before I actually notice them there, so i'm sure they do no harm...
AND HOPEFULLY, they are keeping away some more annoying spiders.... But I also read that once white tails get a little bigger, they don't actually build webs. They just hide in clothes or carpet and things, and hunt their prey, which is little insects and other little spiders.. So maybe then the tide's will turn on the daddy long legs... But i'm taking your advice and keeping the daddy long legs around whenever possible...
Bikersk, my girlfriend said the same thing... Well, she said i'm supposed to be a tough boxer,,,, but my support was that on my boxing forum they are all scared as well.. It has to be some sort of survival instinct that we have no control of..

As far as where those white tails go I know nothing of them...Click that link I put in the other post about the daddy long legs...It has a bunch of others on it and maybe it can tell you something about getting rid of them or what they don't like.....As for being afraid of spiders the hell with what the girlfriend says....I am with you guys I can't stand them....I have seen some bites on people that came from spiders in the home and nasty as all hell......My wife makes fun of me about not wanting to touch the things..telling me I am supposed to be the man and it is my job....I tell her what ever happened to equal rights :-\
I get these little black ones in my house about the size of a tick real small but look like they are evil...and they creep me out...I just don't like bugs in general
By the way where are you at? since you didn't mention daddy long legs because you did not think the UK or US had them
Re: I F'N F'N F'N HATTTTEEE Spiders!!
I have to add, since I did a control bomb last Sunday in my room, I havn't seen a single spider... I have looked around a little and have kept an eye out and have come across nothing...
It could easily be coincidence, but considering how often I saw them before I did the bomb, and that there has also been a heat wave here since christmas, their should definetly have been more around...
So I have to give 2 thumbs up to the use of the bug bomb... The instructions said to use one per average size room.My room is a little larger than average, but I still only used one. It came in packs of 3 so I thought i'll use one, clean up all my crap, and then do another or 2 after that if it was still needed.. .But as I havn't seen any spiders since, 1 may have done the job.
They were also very convenient. You just stick it on a newspaper in the middle of the room, shut all the doors, wait 2 to 3 hours, then open up the doors and air out the room for half an hour... After that it was perfectly livable.. Their was a hint of like, fly spray smell, but just enough to remind me I didn't have to live in fear anymore, so it was welcomed. Far from having to put a tent over your house and go on holiday for a week ;D
Anyway, here is a link for the bombs I used:
http://www.mortein.com.au/product_flea_plus.php
It's an Australian company, but i'm sure you can find similar.
The active ingredients were "Permethrin" & "Fenoxycarb". On a spider website it said that fenoxycarb was the most effective chemical that a regular person would find in a regular shopping centre to get rid of white tails.
I also bought these 2 surface sprays for inside and outside :
http://www.mortein.com.au/products.php
I did around the doors and windows and in between any gaps in the brickwork with the outside one. I havn't used the inside one yet, but may do around the doors, windows, behind cupboards and around the edge of the carpets on the inside when I have some spare time..
Finally I bought an all purpose spray to kill any spiders on site :
http://www.mortein.com.au/product_roach_lure_spray.php
My only problem with all of them was, they have a big picture of a cochroach on the front and all over the product they talk about how they are amazing at keeping away fleas and all these other insects, but only mention the word 'spiders' once.... So I was totally convinced I would completely eliminate ANY roach or flea problem I had (which I didn't), but not very convinced that the products were made very specifically for spiders.
BUT, so far i've been completely happy.... ;D
and since the purchase,,,, Me 1, Spiders 0.
I also saw another product advertised which is a small electrical device that you plug into the powerpoint, and it sends out electrical signals in a circle which spiders and insects hate and won't come near... I think someone mentioned it earlier and it sounds like a great thing, but I would do some research first and see if it's been tested and proven to work effectively in a house. They may have been able to stick it in a box with a spider and the spider didn't like it and tried to run, but it may not work so well over a whole house through walls.
