I don't care how much Floyd is getting paid. But I'm also realistic and I understand how the sport of boxing works. And since I know how the sport works, I know that Floyd (like any fighter) is going to fight the guy who brings the biggest paycheck.
You can sit around and say that it's stupid and that Floyd should just fight the guys who you want him to fight, but you're living in a dream world. That's not how the business of boxing works.
If it was my choice, Floyd would be fighting Cotto in September instead of rematching Oscar. But I'm intelligent enough to realize that money talks.

Once Floyd beats Oscar again, Oscar will be out of the equation. Once that happens, Cotto will be the opponent left who can bring Floyd the most money. Which is why Floyd will fight Cotto eventually, because at some point Cotto will be the opponent who can bring Floyd the most money. But he isn't that guy right now, because Oscar is still around.
Why can't people understand this? It's a very basic concept.
See it is not about the money. You are believing everything he says. Floyd could be fighting 3 times a year and making triple the money. Boxing is about being the best, and Mayweather is riding every single one of his fans from the rear and they are taking it. He has no issue fighting the Baldamir's when there was a belt he wanted. So are you going to tell me Cotto is suddenly too low of a paycheck?
He is afraid of getting beat. He is avoiding fighters who have the potential to beat him. If that guy who ODLH is fighting next, somehow performs a miracle and beats Oscar, guess who will be next in line? He is a scavenger feeding on the small and the old.

Floyd made the biggest purse of his career at that time when he fought Baldomir. He wasn't just fighting for the belt, he was fighting for more than 8 million dollars. That was the biggest paycheck available to him at that moment. Oscar wasn't ready to give him a shot yet, and Cotto hadn't even fought at 147 yet, and hadn't really made a name for himself yet.

No sir. If you reread my post, NOT ONCE did I make an attempt to justify any of his actions (or non actions), as you say. This thread was aimed towards the haters.

Mike Tyson says a lot of stupid shit, but then again he's done a lot of drugs and taken a lot of blows to the head. What's your excuse?

They should want to see Floyd is good competitive fights and have lots of fights instead of playing around in the WWE.
I hate to sound like a dick but this thread REALLY attracted the slow of mind.
Does it matter to me what Mayweather makes? No, it doesn't. But we live in a capitalistic society based on money, and I'm sure we can all understand the longing for money. We can understand that Floyd would, like any of us, perfer a larger sum of money to a smaller sum of money. Yes, I would rather Floyd be fighting Cotto, but I can't fault him for rematching DLH for more money because it is a good business decision.
Yeah I'd love to see Floyd fight Cotto instead, just like I'd love for FutureShop to sell me that nice 46" Sony Bravia HDTV for $500. But I'm not going to fault them for not doing so.

My excuse is I love the sport. I guess yours is that your brain isn't surrounded by water but by floyds milk.

Yeah I said that earlier. A good business decision on his part, shitty one for the sport. But he could have made more money if he fought twice this year. Wow that would have been a better business decision.
If you want to continue to believe that Cotto would not generate enough money for him, fine. Don't be surprised when your master keeps dancing around the subject well after the next DLH fight, pondering retirement, then decides to defend against another low risk opponent instead of a current true welterweight champion.

If Floyd beats Oscar, Cotto remains undefeated, and Floyd STILL doesn't fight him, then I guarantee that you will see many Floyd fans (including myself) criticize him for not taking the biggest fight out there.
We're just not at that point yet.
Re: I feel bad for the Floyd Mayweather haters
It's real simple............
Cotto doesn't bring enough to the table, while Oscar DelaHoya gave Floyd his 2nd toughest fight ever (JLC 1 was the first) AND made Mayweather by far the most money in his career, many people (admittedly those who don't watch much boxing and opted to get caught up in the Cinco De Mayo hype) thought that Oscar won the fight.
Cotto will fight the winner of Margarito VS. Cintron...... PERIOD! (Because Margarito and Cotto are both Top Rank fighters)
If and when Cotto beats the winner of the Margarito/Cintron fight (personally, I think he will) his next fight will be against Mayweather. IF Mayweather opts to fight a lesser opponent for LESS MONEY, only then will the haters have a remotely valid argument.
Until then............................... the haters (the same ones who actually said that Mayweather was scared of Margarito, Williams, etc. etc.) are just blowing their usual hating smoke.
