Been bit? Yes, but not by any cobras, and the others were dry bites with no venom injected.
No I don't milk them; plenty of others do it. One guy in Australia, Dr. Brian Fry, is probably the leading venom researcher in the world.
Mate, I wish I could get some Aussie reptiles. There are a few king browns and eastern browns available now and then, but placed very carefully amongst certain better known hobbyists. Papuan Taipan's and Death Adders are fairly easy to get hold of. No coastal or inland taipans though, which ar 2 I really want, plus any of the tiger snakes. Aussie, as you probably well know, doesn't allow the exportation of its wildlife except for Zoological interests.
I have no f#cking clue why the earth is round; maybe the CREATOR was playing marbles and it was more convenient to have the planets round:p

You'd have a ball here I could go and unearth a tiger within ten miniutes of here and a brown within a half day. plenty of blacks and copperheads if you know where to look too.
Tasmania has some nasty big tasmanian tigers darker than ours (ours are mostly grey with a whitish and yellow stripes underneath )tassies are sometimes black and up to about 7 feet if you get a king one.
Had plenty of run ins over here with snakes as we surf and plod through cliffs and tracks in search sometimes in some seasons at a place called cape liptrap we suit up beofre we walk in there.
As you walk along you see heads going along on tracks parrallell to you checking you out over the bushes that seperate you! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH :o I run.
MAtes have woken up with them crawling under their tents and sleeping bags for warmth at Liptrap! we wouldnt let them into the back of our panel van so they slept on the roof and the bonnet of the cars ;D.
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
Yes sir; I'd definately have the time of my life in Oz. The snake most wanted by me is the Reevesby Island Tiger, jet black and has developed an even more toxic venom than the mainland or Taz ones. They have to hunt mutton birds underground and seeing as how the prey is larger and more dangerous than an average skink or rat, the venom has developed into a more potent form. Amazing stuff really, IMO.
I don't think I would mess with the Eastern Browns, fast as quicksilver and the 2nd most toxic venom in the world, and fast acting. I believe 4 or 5 people died last year in Oz, one man bit and died in 40 minutes by a juvenile. Pretty bad snakes.
The red bellied blacks are gorgeous animals; with quite the attitude so I understand. Copperheads are cool as they are true cannibals; but ugly IMO:D
The death adders are awesome because they share so many characteristics of vipers, though they are elapids. Very cool.
Coastal taipans are the SH#T!!! Freaks of nature man:cool:
I'm a geek:-\

Ya got any rattlers?
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
No rattlers Cubber. I am not really into the vipers, except I like the desert horned vipers and South American bushmasters. Vipers are ambush hunters and tend to just lay around waiting for food. Very lazy. My cobras, and elapids in general, are active hunters and fun to watch cruising their cages looking for food. Problem is, the elapid family have such high metabolisms that they sh#t all the freakin' time; which means more clean-up. But rattlers drive me up a wall with their rattling:rolleyes: And I like a more active snake anyways.
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
And you should see when it's feeding time with cobras:o That is the time you have to be most careful. Psychotic doesn't even quite fit the reaction you'll get when they know prey is available. CObras are notorious hunters and will strike at any movement. Separates the men from the boys when you feed with tongs:D People easily panicked need not apply;D
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
legion,
not to sound like an ignorant retard but thats a cobra right? isnt that a highly venomous snake? how do u feed it without it spitting and injecting u with venom??? very interesting.
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
i remember seeing footage of bruce lee shadowboxing with a cobra and he was like slapping the top of the head of the snake without getting bitten, i thought he was so bad asss for doing that! so much speed and acuracy!

Well, these 2 in the pics aren't spitters; I don't mess with the spitters for a couple of reasons. I don't get injected with venom because I'm careful;D
I usually hold the rat/mouse in tongs and let them grab it from them, or I'll feed live occasionally and just put them in the cage.
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
really? so what determines a spitter or not?
id be too paranoid that theres be an earthquake(i live in california) and the cage would break open and while im sleeping the cobra would bite me LOL.
if anything once i really start making it, id get a lil shark inside a pimp aquarium. im sure the ladies would love that and i wouldnt be paranoid of the shark escaping and biting me lol
Re: My Girl Looking HOT after the Stripshow!!!
There are certain species in the cobra family that can spit; some can't. Red, Indonesian, Mozambique, Ashe's, etc., all have forward facing holes at the tip of the fang that allows for "spitting". They don't actually spit, but the venom glands get contracted and the venom rushes through the fangs and then forced out through that hole at the front of the fang by a gust of air expelled from the lungs.
