I agree, I also love the fact that Calzaghe's record is "padded", but Pavlik is "Godzilla". Seriously, who the fuck has Pavlik fought who is better than Kessler or Hopkins? Aside from Taylor and a weight-drained Miranda, he's fought nobody of any real significance and his record is as padded as anyones.
Taylor beat Hopkins twice though close and controversial on the other hand Kelly's performance against taylor was light years better than that of Hopkins vs Taylor. Miranda weight drained, he was dropped from a CONCUSSIVE shot not from sheer exhaustion.
Joe beating an older version of Hopkins via close decision, beating a Lacy
who'm afterwards was winning via decisions against B level fighters. Kessler who hasnt fought any great American middleweight or super middleweight.
To Joe's credit he is undefeated for so long but for such a short time in Pavlik's career his accomplishments is almost as great as that of Joe.
Re: Calzaghe - Pavlik on 18th Oct
The padded record argument makes me laugh.
Who did Hopkins beat during his Middleweight reign (and don't tell me about men that were half his size ;)) ??
Which prime greats did RJJ ever beat??
Which prime greats did Larry Holmes ever beat??
Which prime greats did Rocky Marciano ever beat??
Which prime greats did Lennox Lewis Holmes ever beat??
Were their records padded?????
....and on and on and on......................

what I meant was Lacy after getting beat by Joe was winning aginst B level fighters. Proving the point that Lacy is exactly not "ALL THAT". If Lacy was that good he should've redeemed himslef with back to back great wins but he didnt.

In regards to the differences in the Hopkins-Taylor and Taylor-Pavlik fights, styles make fights. It doesn't matter how Pavlik beat Taylor, if we want to go down that road, Pavlik was almost stopped by Taylor, Hopkins was never in any danger of being dropped, let alone stopped, against Taylor.
Calzaghe fought the best American SMW at the time in Lacy, a guy the majority of people were picking to win, and embarrassed him with one of the most one-sided beat downs I have ever seen. He then goes on to beat Kessler, who was clearly the #2 man in the division. And what does being American have to do with anything? A good fighter is a good fighter, regardless of nationality. Who's the best current U.S. SMW, Green? Taylor? Lacy? Mundine was better than any US SMW at the time Kessler beat him. How would Kessler beating an American SMW increase his status any? Because they're American? Fuck off with that nationalistic bullshit.

definitely, if you are under the prescribed weight. And were not talking alphabet trinkets, which I am sure have a rule against it, were talking about the real world championships/The Ring.
but how can you be seen as the best fighter in the lightheavyweight division for example if youve never foguht past 168 ?
The best fighter isn't always the champion.

I apologize on this one, I didnt mean it that way. IMO The best middleweights and SMW at the time is toggling between Jermain Taylor, Ronald Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins well at least Middleweight. Then again I apologize.

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion.

You have your opinion but i had Taylor beating Hopkins handily in both fights and calzaghe beating him decisively.
Re: Calzaghe - Pavlik on 18th Oct
I had Taylor 115-113 both times and Calzaghe 115-112

Well I had Hopkins winning the 1st and Taylor winning the rematch. And like you SuperJoe winning decisively over Hopkins.;)

From what I've seen of Joe he is fighting an older man's boxing match, using his head and his heart to carry him to victory. Put him in with Pavlik at a weight somewhere in the middle for them, and I believe he would get brutalized. I can't see Enzo letting that happen.
Hmm i think if Pavlik just keeps coming forward in straight lines, he will get picked off by Calzaghe. Calzaghe is exceptional against come forward type of guys. I'm also not sure Pavlik's power will be as devastating against a big super middle. It could be, who knows...just think he'l find it difficult to deal with calzaghes style, awkwardness, movement and speed.
Re: Calzaghe - Pavlik on 18th Oct
Really pains me to say it, but at this stage, I think Pavlick could stop JC
