Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.

Cotto who walked through monstrous uppercuts from Zab Judah doesn't take a punch as well as De La Hoya who got rocked by Mayweather several times? Hm. :scratchchin:
Yep thats nearly right apart from " Cotto who walked through monstrous uppercuts"only I would have said tottered or stumbled through monstrous uppercuts myself..

I wasn't impressed how ODLH got busted up against Forbes, but i think ODLH did take Forbes lightly and i still think he gives Cotto a close fight, i see ODLH winning the early rounds with Cotto coming on strong with his body attack winning a close UD although wouldn't surprise me if ODLH won a controversial decision.

The only time I remember ODLH getting a good clean shot was on that round (was it 8th or 9th?) when the round finished and when he let his guard down got a straight right from Mayweather. But it was not like "Oh my gaaawd, OHLD won't be able to recover! Look at him, he is totally in trouble!" Nope, faaaar from that, same thing for Mayweather. Can't really say that both ODLD and Mayweather were in trouble in there. Both fought cautiously.
But if we are going to go that way then imagine if Cotto got almots TKO'd by someone like Torres (where is he now?), cuts in almost all his fights, rocked in almost all his fights, exposed, etc. Imagine against ODLH.
I'll say it can go either way.
If almost eveybody in here hates ODLH and are certain that Cotto can give him a great easy beating then why do some of you complain for this fight? Shouldn't everybody look forward to seeing ODLH loose?

I complain because Oscar brings nothing but his name. There are opponents who truly deserve to be there who have fought and BEATEN significant opponents within the last few years. Oscar fans support his PPVs regardless of the outcome. Would you buy the 5th straight PPV of your favorite fighter if he'd either lost the last 4 or fought paper-thin competition? I'm speaking only from the perspective of if it HAS to happen what I believe WILL happen. I'd prefer Cotto fight Paul Williams next.
And I never said it would be easy. I think Cotto will have to work, but in the end he's going to break Oscar's body down and put him away.
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Am a massive ODLH mark but even i know cotto would whoop oscar into retirement faster than you can say "come back floyd" ;D
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I make Cotto a very solid favorite going into this fight.

I didn't see that. Cotto kept his feet and kept the pressure on Zab until Super faded away. Oscar got cracked by Mayweather and stopped throwing the only punch that could have won him the fight.
rewatch the end of the second round i believe, and well you'll see a very hurt Cotto
I watched the rounds many times, and Cotto never wobbled, never was hurt. On a couple of occasions he took a step back, but he never staggered or wobbled. He took Zab's power shots very well, something Cotto has done more effectively at 147. No need to respond in disagreement. If you have the fight on tape, you will agree with me when you see it again.

LMAO... Never heard of anyone "fondly reminiscing" about a body shot before. Well put.
;D

Sure! Why not? Either that or ODLH will make him do the chicken dance Cotto has already done before, get rocked like he has already in many of his fights, or get cut with a few punches. Anything can happen specially now that ODLH is no way near his prime.
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Cotto is a YOUNG champion...and youth can always be a great advantage. However, in pretty much every other department i give Oscar the edge. Not sure why so many people are forgetting Cotto's fight against a past prime Shane Mosley. Shane was considerably slower in that fight and yet he fought to a draw IMO. Sure, Shane is a warrior and is in better shape than Oscar..but Oscar has a better jab and power at this stage of his career. Cotto, for all of his improvements, still has a porous defense and i am not sold on his jaw. I don't see Oscar having to be the aggressor in this fight...hence i don't see him fading as quickly as he normally does. This would actually be a great fight and the toughest in Cotto's career. But i just see Oscar having too much skill and experience for Cotto.
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
In this fight, which I would like to watch after Margarito, I see an Oscar bothering Cotto with his jab during the initial rounds. I also expect Oscar to land some good punches using his combos, but getting hit at the same time. As the fight progresses I believe Cotto's strength and body attack will be too much for Oscar to handle. I see Cotto stopping De La Hoya in the late rounds
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Probably Cotto. But i vote for DeLa Golden anyway. He'd have my support against anyone. But stamina issues would be the main facter IMO
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Of course I got to go with my man Oscar. Ok now that I will recieve a shit storm of negativity. In theory Oscar starts off fast and Cotto starts out slow. Oscar will probably win the first 3 rounds jab the hell out of Cotto. Then gradually he will start to tire and Cotto will start to get inside and rough Oscar up to the body, but I believe in about round seven or eight Oscar will start falling into his groove bouncing moving and looking good then about 10 or 11 he will tired and again Cotto will put the pressure. The twelth round will be the deciding factor with Oscar being Oscar and trying to steal the round and finally doing it and the judges giving it to him in a highly contraversial desicion and very boring fight.
