THe difference in his speed from then to now is less than Meldrick Taylor's speed changed in one fight. If you look at Mosley in slow motion his speed is nearly the same, not quite, but nearly.
Your opinion...plenty of other people on this board think different. As far as your ridiculous statement that Shane is stronger now than back in the day...just look at his KO % in recent years. The majority of his knockouts came at his great reign at lightweight. And yes...he was MUCH faster back in the day as well. His bulking up in recent years (legally or not), as well as AGE, took away from his speed, fluidity and crispness on punches.
Re: Now i'm more convinced then ever that Cotto will be stopped.
His "strength" doesn't have as much to do with his KO percentage as his quality of opposition does. His level of opposition went way up after he left 135, obviously his KO percentage is going to go down when that happens. Its not a great mystery. It would just seem logical that he's stronger at 147 than he was at 135.

I think he clearly was referring to his punching power "strength", not the strength of his opposition. Can Mosley, lets say, bench press more at 147 than he could at 130's...probably. But his punching/KO prowess declined as he went up in weight. That may be an obvious point to some (even though there are some fighters that carry their great KO power as they go up in weight)...but to imply that he is as vicious a puncher now than when he was at 135 is ridiculous. I am also not saying punching power is Mosley's greatest asset...his once amazing speed and always great heart are his biggest "strengths." But his speed has declined considerably...and he doesn't throw combo's with the same accuracy and frequency. Does this all mean that he still is not an excellent fighter...of course not. He wasn't his best against Cotto and still nearly won. But a younger Shane (the one that fought Oscar in their first fight) was an entirely different beast.

it wasn't so much his opposition, it was the fact that those guys were much bigger than shane...at lightweight shane would have probably stopped those ww too...

He knocked out a lot of guys because he was a lightweight not because he had more power. As for his speed, watch it in slow motion at 1/100th speed and count the seconds it takes punches to land for Mosley in Mosley-Cotto then Mosley-Dela HOya I. It is much smaller than you would think. I said nothing about his fluidity at all. Also of course Mosley is stronger now. People reach their physical strength peak far later than they meet their speed peak. Strength peaks in the early 40's, and Mosley has been up to 154. I agree he doesn't have the same crispness on his punches, but he isn't that much worse then when he was younger. Regardless I think Mosley would ahve the same problems with Cotto's timing, sneaky speed, and boxing ability back in his prime almost as much as he did when they fought.
