A few years back it would have made sense but to do it now just seems odd. I hope Joe knows what he's doing this for and he gets it right.
Surely the only reason he's given FW the elbow is so he doesn't have to give him a cut of the final massive payday
So it makes sense ;D

Could have done it earlier and taken home a bigger cut more frequently. Im a little confused as to why now and for a supposed single fight.
Re: Calzaghe and frank warren split - OFFICIAL
He should have left him many years ago. A bit too late now really...

We're going to have to wait and see for the real reason probably. I didn't see this coming at all, and it's an odd time to make it.

I hope Calzaghe has this in mind and is thinking about one more big show down with Pavlik after Jones because I dont think Pavlik is stopping Joe. And Pavlik isnt going to outwork him.
If the fight happens I'll bet you ALL my rep points. I'm being serious, you heard it here. Pavlik Ko's joe C, no doubt.

Sort of same thing happened with Kessler-Andrade, where Palle's good friend (former boxer) Hans Henrik Palm suddenly won the purse offer, having never staged a show before or after. This way they were free to offer it as ppv, despite Palle's stable being contractually bound to a (free, third rate) tv-channel.
I think this is right. Setanta is a nice deal for Warren, not Joe. Hatton made a bundle from Sky ppv for his last two fights and Joe wants some of that too. I'm still not convinced the Jones fight is going to be ppv in the US because they originally said the same thing about the Hopkins fight, but there's a nice big ppv revenue stream there in the UK to be had for certain. IIRC Hatton got to keep 100% of the Sky money from the Mayweather fight too.

It will probably not happen the way things are going but you have a deal if it does happen. I take all your rep points if Joe gets knocked out, yeah?

I was just making light of your two previous posts and seeing what I could get away with. Pavlik is a good fighter and I like him, but Calzaghe is better. He has the tools to make Pavlik look seriously sloppy. If it happens then we have a deal. I have little interest in seeing a beatdown of Jones Jr. to be honest and would much rather the Pavlik fight but god knows whats going on the mind of some people out there.

See that is where you lose it a little. Calzaghe is very good and deserves a little respect. Calzaghe is not Edison Miranda nor Jermaine Taylor. He is a little league beyond that. Pavlik is a very good pressure fighter but Calzaghe gets off on that.
Anyways, lets just see what actually happens with Calzaghe over the following weeks.

I'm a big joe fan, but there's no way I'm PPViewing a jonesJr fight, I'm sure a lot of fans think the same.
Re: Just heard that Calzaghe has split with Warren?
Well good for Joe now that he's exposed to the US he should have no problem negotiating fights over here.
Plus it's better this way then having to share profit with a manager. ;)

We'll have to disagree then.
No one looks "snappy" against Hopkins...no one.
Take a look back @ how ineffective Winky was against Bernard...he's never looked that bad...NEVER.
As far as that goes...take a look back @ Calzaghe against Kessler. Joe was effective & he was also aggressive throughout the fight. Calzaghe always takes a few rounds to get crankin'.
That being said...I made the exact statement a few days ago regarding Hopkins dropping Joe & that it would be an issue facing a heavy hitter like Pavlik. Hopkins is very surgical with his shots...it showed against Taylor in their first bout & towards the end of either the 9th or 10th round Hopkins had him out on his feet but refused (for some odd reason) to press the issue. The thing is...it was a flash knockdown for Joe & he's had several of those throughout his career...& he soldiers through for the win.
Whether or not he could do so with "Heavy Hands Kelly" is a totally different matter...just like whether or not Kelly could handle Joe's volume & awkward style .
