This way they were free to offer it as ppv, despite Palle's stable being contractually bound to a (free, third rate) tv-channel.
I think this is right. Setanta is a nice deal for Warren, not Joe. Hatton made a bundle from Sky ppv for his last two fights and Joe wants some of that too. I'm still not convinced the Jones fight is going to be ppv in the US because they originally said the same thing about the Hopkins fight, but there's a nice big ppv revenue stream there in the UK to be had for certain. IIRC Hatton got to keep 100% of the Sky money from the Mayweather fight too.
