enough with this heresy.
I'm saying cotto's defence is damn good. Tony handled cotto's defence and speed advantage and he will handle floyd's defence and speed advantage.
Re: Oh my! Mad ups to Margarito.
cotto was poorly conditioned for his own strategy....if he had truly trained for the pace and circling the ring as he did in the first round this would have been an easy night....at first i was thinking mayweather-corrales...but then cotto either lost focus or got tired...either way i feel bad that cotto lost esp after I gave him mad deserved props after he beat shane...but nevertheless floyd would not get tired against margarito and would be able to dodge and circle all night long...i still would rather see floyd-cotto or floyd-shane than to see pbf batter the stalking margarito for 12 rounds..

understood, but wait til tomorrow after this margarito buzz is over (which i am well enjoying btw) and then re-assess the situation.. watching hatton/mayweather, then ODLH/mayweather.. it's the same shit.. stalking by the pressure fighter, and countering by mayweather.. mayweather/margarito would NOT be a pretty fight as mayweather would clinch as soon as tony came in close, but tony isn't as quick as cotto, and i think mayweather would see his punches coming and dodge them matrix style.. no doubt tony is the harder puncher and given the opportunity to sneak a shot in there it would have more effect than cotto's punch, but I'd see cotto connecting easier/more often..
just ask yourself if margarito hits harder then ODLH.. then ask yourself who's quicker..
i favor ODLH in both departments, which yields a victory for mayweather as he disposed of ODLH handily..
I'm not one to get caught up in Temporary Carnival barker Hype,Heres what I know.Margarito just knocked out the # 1 Welter and had Mayweather turn him down in prior opportunity and opted to "retire".I'm enjoying what Margarito accomplished tonight. I do not recall mentioning ODH as hopeful but call me nuts.......I think Tony shot per shot & volume lands harder than Oscar :-X ODH has better selection and skill set....but Margarito lands harshly and often.
Re: Oh my! Mad ups to Margarito.
I almost feel sorry for Danny. Poor guy probably had all sorts of great photoshop pics and clever videos just waiting to be loosed onto Margarito fans after a Cotto win:-\ Tough break Danny;D Maybe after a rematch.
Props to Cotto; a game guy who just couldn't get it done tonight. Anyone else would have fallen to the beating Cotto was dishing out.

have you seen mayweather fight? he's the slickest of slick and can dodge bullets.. if Margarito lands 1/8th of the punches on mayweather that he landed on Cotto tonight then he would be lucky..
You know what no one talks about with all these PBF fights??? Ring rust. That squirrely little man may be the most skilled boxer by far, but you fight one fight a year and then take time off here and there.......your ass is gonna get caught by the boogyman for being an inactive fuck. Fact.
Mayweather would be fine with not fighitng for a year, he usually takes a huge amount of time between fights, and he always stays in great shape, I am sure he is still in great shape, he would just have a longer training camp.
Re: Oh my! Mad ups to Margarito.
i think cotto wasnt good at that kind of boxing that he did...he usually dont circle around the whole ring that made him lose his stamina within the fight...IF cotto-margarito2 will happen...cotto must make EXTREME workout on his stamina that could make him sustain what hed done on first 2 rounds of the fight...if he can do that for 12 long rounds, then he could have chance...;)

Body work, body work, body work. Most announcers and fans ignore it. Cotto almost went down a few times thru out the fight from body punched, that the announcers completely ignored.
The judges didn't ignore it either as they had Tony winning the fight. Cotto just couldn't protect the body throughout the fight and it wore him down. Cotto was spent because of the viscous assault on his body from round 1 of the fight. He was so much slower in every way by the 7th and 8th rounds, it was like a different fighter in there.
This was a body work clinic. If only the announcers would pay attention, they wouldv'e called a much better fight. Even the rounds Tony clearly lost, he was landing that left hook to the body. I think he really hurt Cotto to the body in the second and never let up.

Will this bring Mayweather Jr out of retirement?
Does Floyd want any of the Tornado? He didn't before.
:o
I guess now we know why. Cotto hit Tony with everything but the kitchen sink and the man just kept coming. Tony is not very polished but damn it does he bring it.
Yep agree that PBF would not want to mess with Tony. I see Cotto sticking to the 140 division tho as he can be so edominant there.

Cotto's defense is damn good? Like when he wouldn't tie Tony up when Tony had him on the ropes and he wasn't throwing back? ... I agree that Cotto's defense is good when he isn't tired, but he doesn't have anything near the defensive capability of Mayweather. Mosley hit him with numerous right hands that would have never landed on MAyweahter partly becuase of his footwork, partly because of his speed, and partly becuase of his defensive ability in general. Mayweather is faster than Cotto(especially in footspeed which is the key point), better counter puncher, better defense(than maybe anybody ever in boxing), and he has better stamina.

You are too funny . and you forget the shot to the nose was was inflicted by Margarito. I do not remember seeing anyone in his corner sticking their finger in his nose ........

Agreed. Mayweather is better than Cotto in those attributes you mentioned plus he has not shown clear weaknesses/flaws as Cotto does in all his fights.

Mayweather holds alot. That's what the difference would be. Cotto was outboxing him and almost no clinching. Mayweather could win a hug and run fest, but you can't slip 120 punches a round. Margarito is too big for Cotto, and way to big for PBF. Cotto layed on the ropes WAY too much. He was expecting to counter and get the ko, but he couldn't hurt Margarito. Margarito was possessed. Insane conditioning, chin, determination. Reminded me of Vasquez in the last Marquez fight. He just kept coming harder and faster. If Cotto wasn't a fighter, he would have won a decision, but he wanted the ko so he fought inside way too much.... Great fight.

Tying someone up technically isn't defense, it's supposed to be a foul. Cotto fights, almost never clinches, only when he's really hurt. Anyway blocking all those punches to your arms wears you out, PBF would have severe trouble with the Margarito from tonight. Running and holding is the only way he can win, cause there's no way he can hurt Margarito, and the only way he can control the distance is to hold till the ref breaks them then he can back up again until he's cornered. If the ref warned him for constant holding, it would be a long night for PBF.
Re: Oh my! Mad ups to Margarito.
I don't see PBF beating the Margarito who showed up tonight. Either does he. That's why he didn't find Margarito to begin with and will and should stay retired.
Props to Margarito for the excellent conditioning and cast iron head.
