anyone who has a fighting style made for walking down another fighter will have issues with Margarito since they will not be walked down

So just stand your ground in the middle of the ring and keep it on the inside where you're clearly winning. Cotto back tracked giving Margarito his range costing him the fight. He was winning the fight in my eyes, he just had to finish the fight on his feet (although apparently 2 judges had Marg up). Margarito adapted in this fight and Cotto didn't..respect to Margarito. Respect to both fighters. Great fight.
A great night huh Spicoli'?
Let them have a rematch; same outcome but maybe earlier. This will leave a lasting impression on Cotto and not sure how he'd react when he steps in again with Margarito.
Props to Cotto, that guy never quits. Cintron wouldn't have made it 5 rounds with Tony tonight.
I still say Floyd beats Tony pretty decisively. Cotto would be a harder fight for Floyd and I would still love to see a Cotto/Mayweather match up.
i agree cotto would still be harder for mayweather simply because cotto is quicker and has more sharper/accurate punches.. compared to a pressure fighter who floyd, at this point of his career has fought enough pressure fighters, that he could dispose of him in his sleep..
but i don't even know what comes next..
I don't see mayweather defeatin margarito. Cotto put on a brilliant defensive show and was still steamrolled by tony.
cotto fought "brilliantly defensive" against a sloppy boxer.. big deal..
have you seen mayweather fight? he's the slickest of slick and can dodge bullets.. if Margarito lands 1/8th of the punches on mayweather that he landed on Cotto tonight then he would be lucky..
You know what no one talks about with all these PBF fightsRing rust. That squirrely little man may be the most skilled boxer by far, but you fight one fight a year and then take time off here and there.......your ass is gonna get caught by the boogyman for being an inactive fuck. Fact.

Margarito is the best possible pressure fighter you could ever create. He is actually video game like. Floyd would not be tired by Margarito and would school him for 12 rounds. Floyd is an elite athlete and his conditioning would hold up to the barrage. Picture SRL/Duran II. Cotto falls in the middle where he is pretty good at everything, but tonight Tony broke his will and he was just gassed out.
I know everything about nothing!
good point.. but the fact that it takes margarito a few rounds to get going, and looking at the hatton fight, it takes mayweather a few rounds to adjust to everything, i still think he would be fine.. BUT i do agree with you, that if there was one thing to do floyd in, it would be his inactivity..
Mayweather is dangerous because of his speed and defence. If Margarito can break cotto's defence then he will break mayweather's as well.
Margarito takes one (or two and three maybe) to land a good shot. I don't know, mayweather may just slip and slide the whole night and end up with a technical win (boring though). Cotto/Mayweather maybe a better match up becuase Cotto is a lot faster.
understood, but wait til tomorrow after this margarito buzz is over (which i am well enjoying btw) and then re-assess the situation.. watchin hatton/mayweather, then ODLH/mayweather.. it's the same shit.. stalking by the pressure fighter, and countering by mayweather.. mayweather/margarito would NOT be a pretty fight as mayweather would clinch as soon as tony came in close, but tony isn't as quick as cotto, and i think mayweather would see his punches coming and dodge them matrix style.. no doubt tony is the harder puncher and given the opportunity to sneak a shot in there it would have more effect than cotto's punch, but i'd see cotto connecting easier/more often..
just ask yourself if margarito hits harder then ODLH.. then ask yourself whos quicker..
i favor ODLH in both departments, which yields a victory for mayweather as he disposed of ODLH handily..
But delahoya stopped using what was working and was exhausted as the fight wore on. Delahoya stamina cost him that fight. Tony gets stronger as the fight goes into the deep.
