I remember you Brits putting a lot of faith in one Audley Harrison too....how did that work out for you????
David Haye got KO'd by an ancient Carl Thompson and he hasn't shown much improvement on defense since then either.
ALSO Alexander Gurov might have been 6'5 but he was also a CRUISERWEIGHT.
I genuinely believe that Haye posseses the heaviest punches in the division and has the ability on the night to take out either klitschko and can see him doing a number on Wlad.
The true test of Hayes ability to be a great heavyweight will be a combination of whether he is determained enough and does he have the chin for it.
If Haye is serious as he said after the maccarineli fight at only wanting 3-4 more fights then calling it a day then i suspect he`ll be a flash in the pan.
If he also continues to fight bums every 8months or so at the age of 30 id bring into question the mans heart he has for the challenge

HA, you are such a HOMER! It took David Haye 5 rounds to KO Monte Barrett a guy who Cliff Couser KO'd in 2 less than a year ago AND Nicolay Valuev KO'd in 11 a year ago AND a guy who Wladimir Klitschko KO'd in 7; 9 years ago AND he was the first to KO Monte too.
David Haye is the new Frank Bruno....I know you Brits love some damn Frank Bruno, and I love how he was a dramatic fighter but David Haye isn't the savior of the division not by a long shot!
As much as people may hate on Vitali and most especially Wladimir they forget that those two guys are extremely talented fighters....not JUST boxers but fighters.
Answer me this Lyle.
What do you think will happen if David Haye lands a right hand FLUSH on Wladimir Klitchsko's chin ? Ill tell you. He'll go down and stay down.
Wlad has never felt power like Haye's FACT. Haye had devastating power at Cruiserweight. And yet he was weight drained. Look what he did to Monte Barret. Floored him 5 times in 5 rounds, destroyed the kid. Thats a little indication of what's coming to Wlad. If Tony Thompson could land all night what do you think Haye will do? Thompson is garbage and has no power, yet got through every time.
Wlad's defence is awful. He just uses that jab to paw his way through. Once Haye gets round that jab (And he will) it's lights out for Wladimir. If Sam Peter can floor him 3 times ? It's a pretty scary thought to see waht David Haye can and will do.
You got to remember as well Haye LOVES opponents like Wlad. Tall, upright and chinny. Look at the Alexander Gurov fight, he was like 6 foot 5. And Haye knocked him out in the first round.
Once Haye connects, Wlad hits the deck. EVERY time Wlad has faced somebody determined and fresh he has been knocked out. Forget frauds like Ray Austin and Sultan Ibragimov. In June (If Wlad has the balls to fight Haye) we will see a new HW champ. One that will put excitement back in this horrible division.
Fighters Wlad has fought with more power than Haye:
Sam Peter
Ray Mercer
Corrie Sanders
DaVarryl Williamson (granted, he only has a straight right, but it's one of the hardest you'll find)
Klitschko only lost to one of those guys and anybody can play the what-if game. If Klitschko taps on Haye's chin first he'll go to sleep. Haye hasn't shown his chin is even on the same level as Klitschkos and you completely gloss over the FACT that Klitschko has the best 1-2 in the division right now and has THE hardest straight right in boxing.
Re: Fights that could help the heavyweight division.
Why June? I so wish this fight were in April.
Re: Fights that could help the heavyweight division.
This is a huge reason why this division is messed up. Look at the last dozen posts! We have to keep speculating how one fighter would do against the other. How about we set this fight up and answer all our quesitons!?!?
Re: Fights that could help the heavyweight division.
I just don't get how these Haye fans can judge a fighter's punching power based on 2 fights at heavyweight! And even then it wasn't vs quality opposition!!!!
Wladimir Klitschko has more KO's than David Haye has heavyweight rounds!! It is absolutely fucking ridiculous to assume Haye's power will carry the same OR BETTER from cruiser to heavyweight....but then again Haye fans aren't known to base their beliefs on reality.
Sure Wladimir has lost before, and sure he's gotten KO'd but at least he didn't get KO'd by a CRUISERWEIGHT who was like 75 years old at the time. Wladimir has his flaws BUT he's a smart fighter and he creates KO's by controlling the pace of a fight, he has very good defense, and he controls the distance with the BEST jab the heavyweight division has seen since Larry Holmes.
If I saw David Haye vs Dimitrenko, McCline, Sam Peter, hell even Oleg Maskaev or Lyakahovich and liked what I saw I would admit it and give him a better chance of beating Wladimir but size, strength, intelligence, experience.....it's hard to not see that Wladimir has a HUGE advantage over Haye and he should be a heavy favorite. David Haye has yet to have a meaningful heavyweight fight and if Wlad is his first then he will no doubt lose and maybe ruin his career
Re: Fights that could help the heavyweight division.
I don't think David Haye would withstand either of these beatings...

The right cross is very good BUT I think Wladimir's left hook is deadly
Re: Fights that could help the heavyweight division.
Lyle, why are you so defensive when it comes to the Klits? If Haye knocks out Wlad will you give him any credit? Or will you just say it was a lucky punch that IF never landed he would have got his ears boxed off?

are you seriously calling Wlad out on being chinny and then tryin to use that as a basis for why Haye would beat him? watch out people it's Judah/Cotto all over again...

The best WHAT since Larry Holmes? Have you ever heard of a man called Lennox Lewis? The thing with Lewis though was that he used to set other things up with his jab whereas Klitschko just jabs because he is frightened to death of throwing anything else in case he gets clobbered and ultimately KO'd.

Well Kel as not only a boxing fan but a fan of Wladimir and Vitali I would like for David Haye and Cris Arreola to be PREPARED to fight them because if they aren't #1 It's bad for boxing #2 It does NOTHING for Wladimir or Vitali's legacy's....HOWEVER if Haye and Arreola take their time and get more experience #1 We may have a CLASSIC heavyweight fight #2 Whoever wins will get full respect and #3 It's better for boxing to have guys that fans think deserve a title shot fight rather than letting the commissions decide.
Also Kel take a look at these guys who Wlad has fought and beaten: Calvin Brock, Sultan Ibragimov, and Sam Peter....Does Wladimir get much credit for beating those guys? Not really, everyone slags off on Brock for whatever reason or another...they always talk about how boring the Sultan fight was (it was boring but that is beside the point)....and Sam Peter the "Most Dangerous Man" in the division at that time fighting a Wladimir Klitschko coming off of 2 big KO losses, Wlad took him to school and all Wlad gets credit for are the knockdowns he suffered and now a couple years later Sam Peter is a joke. The thing is all those guys were undefeated and Wlad whipped all of them, had those guys been better prepared maybe Wlad doesn't win or maybe we have a better fight.
rjjtszyu, no disrespect to Lennox but his jab wasn't as good....sure it was good but I don't think that was his best punch or his best attribute as a fighter. Lennox is an all-time great but I don't think his jab is as good as Wladimir's. And I think it's pretty juvenile to say Wlad is "frightened to throw anything else"....if he truly was a scared fighter he'd have a lot more than 3 losses on his record after having so many fights. Sure Wlad used to throw everything whenever he wanted to but he fights smarter now and controls the flow of a fight and this allows Wladimir to pace himself and let the KO come to him and sometimes guys like Sultan Ibragimov aren't cooperative with this style and we don't see a good fight but for the most part when Wladimir fights he comes out with a KO win.
