Re: Was Mike Tyson guilty.....
His trial happened not so long after a member of the Kennedy family walked free from a trial when there was much more compelling evidence. It's hard not to believe Tyson would have been found not guilty if he hadn't been black and had the reputation he had, been seen as a ferocious individual and so on.

Correct. No such thing as an untainted, unbiased jury. Maybe in a perfect world, but not this one in which we live.

Let's not talk about any fights or fighters from the past either then, cos it's done already and we should move on ;)
thing is when we talk about fighters from the past, we talk about their accomplishments in the ring, i don't hear anyone on here bitching about how Leonard was a coke addict, or how Griffith is a flaming homo, we talk about what they accomplished and not what they might of or might of not done in their personal lives
Re: Was Mike Tyson guilty.....
I don't know whether she was raped or not but i do know that she was partially to blame for being so irresponsible. If she was raped, she sure showed bad judgement by going up to mike's room alone. Maybe she figured he was harmless because he was a celebrity. Girls never go alone to a strange mans hotel room.
Re: Was Mike Tyson guilty.....
I cannot believe that you guys havent seen one very good reason she cried rape. Tyson was one of the judges at the pageant little miss devious washington decided let Irom Mike have her that way he'll vote for her and she'll win. But Mike had what he wanted and was finished with her. Washington went on with the pageant sang and danced perfectly OK but it was when she hadnt won that the idea of calling rape came to her. Tyson was railroaded

Tyson cocky attiude didn't exactly help him. Especially with a female judge. Like Lyle said his lawyers were horrible. One wasn't even a criminal lawyer. He was tax lawyer
Re: Was Mike Tyson guilty.....

But like the terrible one says, who knows for sure.
It's amazing how many women leave it till after the 'last minute' to change the mind! ;)
it's no good getting fucked and then feeling guilty/a whore or what ever goes through freaks like her's heads afterwards and deciding that because you have
now decided that you didn't want to that you were raped.
Hindsight seems to count for shit in life,
except when women get innocent men done for rape.
I hear this a lot from men.
Most rapes are carried out by someone a woman knows or an ex. In these cases I hear men bleat on about they didn't know she meant no, we were kissing earlier in the evening (= that means were expected to have sex). Unless there are signs of violence you can forget a conviction in most cases.....but yeah I forgot she said she liked it rough or she never protested at the time.
Stranger rape is much less common. As such conviction % is higher if they ever get caught.
The majority of women do not report being raped.
The majority of cases never make it to trial.
The majority of cases never end in a conviction.
But of course it's all just women lying because that's what we do right?
-This is not a comment on this particular case but considering the past 3 pages of misogyny I felt the need to comment -

How dare we have a vagina!
Re: Was Mike Tyson guilty.....
For the record, I haven't made any comments about woman in general, I just think that in this particular case he didn't do it.

I agree with a lot of that. There seems to be an attitude of 'Mike didn't do it, but if he did it was her fault' among some people on this thread. Now I don't think Tyson necessarily raped Desiree Washington based on the evidence, but on the other hand he certainly had a history of behaving 'inappropriately' with women, so it's not out of the question. I believe he said himself, that he had done bad things with women, but not on that occasion. I can't say whether or not he is a rapist, but its funny that I've seen some hold Ali's 'draft-dodging' over an immoral war in more serious contempt than the Mike Tyson's rape conviction
