the world awaits ;D
I understand well formated sarcasm, but when it makes no sense I don't understand it.
Anyways IMO 145 can help Cotto because it will make his movement a little quicker which is the only chance he has of catching Pacquiao, even if he was as fast as he was at 140, I just can't see Miguel cutting the distance as quick as Manny can expand it.
It did have the sarcasm () smiley next to it, that should have been the dead giveaway
I don't think 145 will help Cotto, but I don't see it majorly hindering him. Pacquiao beats him though, my only concern is both guys are fairly strong starters & can fade off a bit, so that might play into one of their hands
When has Pacquiao slowed down late? Even in Pacquiao-Marquez I, and Pacquiao-Morales I he finished up pretty strong considering the beating he took over the middle rounds. He also stayed strong against De La Hoya, David Diaz, Barrera, in the second Marquez fight where both of them were absolutely amazing coming down the stretch. IMO Manny starts strong, but he finishes stronger, and for Cotto it depends on the fight, if he is sustaining a lot of damage and/or pressure he usually fades, but he still stays mentally sharp, and he stayed strong against Judah.
Don't start with me... :vd:
Can you find a quote from me were I said that Cotto would be a 'shell of a fighter' for dropping one pound?
I was saying that even a pound COULD be a big factor depending on the fighter... and that still reigns true.
my point was not too say that an individual fighter can't possibly lose a single pound... but that each one can be significant... every one past a certain point represents fluids and sugars drained from organs.
All I've wanted to do is make Pac's fans 100% clear of his intentions in getting people to drop weight for him now that he is up to welterweight (sort of...) and that is a stone cold fact... I've not even criticism him for doing it... I've said, countless times... fairplay to him for sorting a mega fight under the fight conditions... his fans talk about him as if he is holier than jesus christ though.
There have been multiple weights talked about for two fighters of completely different stature... Do I think Cotto can do drop a pound? Do I think he'd be drained below 143? Do I think Mosely is tight at 147 and may struggle to go lower? Do I think a Mosely fight at 140 would be crazy and Cotto may struggle too?
Possibly
(Do you purposefully not read the ifs, coulds, cans and mays in posts so you can be more belligerent ???)
But I don't even profuse to know how well Cotto will do at getting down to any weight... I know what possibilities there are and I know what factors his team will be up against in getting him down to any weight... When will I know if they've pulled it off or not? FIGHT NIGHT... the same as everybody else.
And yeah... I said I'd like to see Pac-Mosely at 145... two things you (suprisingly :vd:) didn't seem to pick up on was the fact that I said IF Mosely could do the weight and also the large amount of blatant sarcasm (thanks for pointing out that he was being sarcastic btw...) from me saying that Arum had made 145 seem like such a good deal.
Now go and scuttle off and try and quote me as saying that 145 would definitely be too much for cotto.
It would also be nice if you told me why you think Pac wants him at 145 and not 146.
I think it's pointless mind games/diva like behaviour but I'd like to hear your views.
just pointless speculation but maybe he threw out 143 with a certain purse split then said well I'll give you 145 but I want a little more money?
That may be wildly inaccurate but I always thought 143 was some kind of a ploy.
;D maybe it was a ploy to make people happier with 145, I don't know.
Lol! Poor Shane. All those begging for nothing. I think this news has something to do with now Roach turning his full attention on Pac after his well done job with Khan.
Its not as much about writting Cotto of as a fighter in general, put him in with Mosley, Berto, Collazo, Quintana, Khan, etc, etc. I would favor Cotto to win, but Pacquiao is the ony guy IMO that is all wrong for him.
Cotto is wide up to the left cross or uppercut, IMO Pacquiao definitely has the power to hurt him, if not with one shot than with an acculation effect, and while Cotto has great timing and good handspeed, I don't think his timing is as good as Pacquiao's, and he doesn't have the footspeed to close the gap.
You created an entire thread telling us how you hated the way Pacquaio was blatently trying to weight drain fighters, saying if it was about ahievement or respect he'd move up to the weight and fight them properly.
Here's one quote from you
I'm sure plenty of people can and will disagree with this but there is one thing I keep on hearing from people who clearly have very little knowledge of human physiology and a boxer's weight making process - "What difference will a pound or two make?".
A few posters including myself have challenged those 'informed opinions' and the likes of Bilbo and other pac fans have tried to react as if disagreeing is crazy
Well it seems now you are agreeing with my 'informed' opinion after all.
No doubt you will now say you're rants wern't to do with Cotto fighting Manny at 145 but about even lower catchweights but the FACTS are you bitched and moaned about this fight being made saying Manny was doing it to drain Cotto and when I insisited it was a great fight (at 145) you created an entire thread as to why you disagreed.
All of my arguments related to this have been specifically about Manny fighting Cotto at a catchweight of 145 lbs. I have never waivered from that so what were you actually disagreeing with me over?
If you too think at 145 matchup between the pair is a great fight then why all the toy throwing and hissy fits about it?
I've been proven correct. A catchweight at 145 lbs IS a great fight, one that virtually everyone wants to see.
Any talk about catchweights at 142 or 143 or whether Mosely can go under 147 is completely irelevent, nobody but you every brought them up.
I have only ever spoke specifically about a fight at 145 lbs between Cotto and Manny and you disagreed every single time I said it was a great fight.
But now you don't.
I don't see Pac disposing Cotto ala Hatton style. It's more like David Diaz style where Cotto MIGHT get cut severely in the eyebrows and bumps below the eyes. Speed will difinitely play a big part. Pac just gotta watch out for Cotto's lethal jab cuz it's very unpredictable. Roach must focus on that.
Cotto is way better than David Diaz.
This is in no a gimme fight, its a huge test for Manny.
There is every chance Manny could get KO'd in this fight, I'm simply amazed at how quickly Cotto's chances have been written off.
We are talking about a former superfeatherweight taking on one of the best p4p fighters in the world at welterweight.
It's a pick'em fight imo.
i don't see Pac beating Cotto period
Cotto's not as slow as some are making him out to be, he has awesome timing to make up for the slight edge in speed that goes to Pac, IMO Cotto's the harder hitting stronger guy, he has no problems with southpaw, infact he fights very well in the southpaw stance himself, so his constant switching could actually cause Manny problems
