Pac is not tested LEGITIMATELY Past 135 and we have no earthly idea how he will assimilate Cotto's power and being clobbered by a 155 lb wrecking ball. Oscar was shot and capoot, couldnt even really land a glove on Manny let alone set and throw a power shot. Hatton got slaughtered because he tried jumping on pac without moving his head or jabbing.
Cotto will be fresher and functional at 145 than DLH, he has a high tight guard and he is effective and patient with his aggression to go along with an excellent jab.. Miguel can box and is a suberb counterpuncher who can fight forward and backwards seemlessly. Pac can try to dart in and out but he has to come into range sooner or later and when he does he will pay a stiff price that no one can say with conviction his body and chin can handle.
Cotto has battled adversity being beaten up with loaded gloves and coming back, also proved in the Clottey fight that he can swim in the deep waters
Basically Pac is going to get his liver knocked through his a$$hole

I gotta disagree with what I bolded JT. Regardless of the ease with which he beat him, Hatton was a stern test for Pac. To continue the analogy, just because Pac aced it doesn't mean it wasn't a serious test.

Hatton got beat because he was Ricky Hatton, I still have yet to see what he did that was so out of character in the Manny fight. He spent his career lunging in with the left hook. Manny is an all time great and Hatton was a good champion who couldn't hang, no shame in that, he only got beat by the best. And Luis Collazo ;D Nah I actually scored that for Ricky.

Life would be so much easier if I was just a fair weather boxing fan who watched boxing a dozen times a year, would make my life easier.
I like Pacquiao but people get so damned carried away. The win over Hatton was awesome and what he was supposed to do. He kept the fight in the center of the ring and he picked Ricky off as Ricky lunged in. Pac stepped up to the challenge and Ricky Hatton didn't. He may have trained well and been in top shape but tactically he was the same fighter. Following Roach's plan, I'm sure it came easy to Pacquiao especially with his sharp punching.
Against De La Hoya he had a flatfooted fighter who couldn't cope with Pac's speed and accuracy. Hatton or De La Hoya, neither were Cotto. No question this is his hardest fight yet. It just sucks that Cotto's biggest flaws are some of Pacquiao's biggest advantages but Cotto is fully capable of pulling this off. It is no certainty, Taeth you of all people should know it is foolish to assume ANYTHING in boxing.

don't forget to mention that Cotto is a natural counter puncher, watch most of his early fights, he adopted the aggressive style pretty much around the Sosa fight, but he still counter punches pretty damn effectively and i know of one counter puncher who's given Pacquiao nightmares

;D Err, yeah I think it kinda does. Because the majority of the really hardcore fans that watch all of the "D and C level fights" also watch the big names and prospects that you watch. They don't consciously limit themselves to fighters Taeth thinks are crap.

Taeth how do you know you watch 90% more fights then anybody else on here? That isn't going to endear you to anyone here and just makes you sound pompous. There are a lot of people here who are clued in who don't give a shit how much boxing you think you watch. Also, I'm sure there are people who have watched A LOT more boxing then you who you think you know a lot more then. Why the insecurity?
Anyways, I think you are trippin hard if you think Oscar was faster then what Cotto will be. Maybe old school Oscar who could rip those combinations off so quickly but not the Oscar who couldn't "pull the trigger" against Pacquiao, especially on the feet.
You might be right that Morales and Marquez are both harder on Pacquiao but he lost to both of those guys. I agree that Cotto is there to be hit, and it's not exactly a tossup fight but Cotto is far from eliminated.

No doubt Pacquiao is much better at using angles both in his attack and in his defense. In the De La Hoya fight he was excellent at backing out intelligently, never at the same angle and he never let De La Hoya get a countershot in.

LOL I'm not arguing that he doesn't move back from time to time, who doesn't? Saying he's "completely ineffective" when he's getting backed up is what I'm arguing, that's way off. He let Hatton take the lead, he moved and fought off his back foot some and that worked out ok ;D

Gotto to agree with that. Hatton did Tag Pac abit while the fight lasted but Pac had way to much fire power and skill for Ricky. On the other hand if Cotto is able to cut Manny off, and likely will if Hatton can, hes in for some real pain.
This one is up in the air. No one can say Mannys gonna win or Cotto's gonna win as there are too many variables. Going to be a hell of a fight.
