You would think that, sorry but he's still got a fair bit of work to reach that level
On the topic of where he is, at present I would have him definitely in the Top 40, probably somewhere close on either side of 30. A win over Cotto would certainly push him higher, but the problem is that as much as people don't want to hear it, there are question marks over some of his biggest wins (Oscar, Morales & Marquez). Also for me, I don't feel there's one division that he really dominated to class him as one of the best in that particular division.
Also how people rank him is based often on an individual's preferences, how they weight competition, skill & external factors. I would have him & Mayweather roughly equivalent, but someone pulled out the Ring ratings earlier, & tbh I would have both these guys over Marciano & Chavez, & certainly already level with Jofre & Arguello.
If Pacquiao beat Cotto & then Mayweather, I would have him Top 10 borderline. One thing though is that boxing unlike other sports isn't one to gloss over certain issues through history (i.e. decisions, a fighter being weight drained etc) so I don't think his career will start looking better with time. But, the guy deserves the utmost respect for his achievements & I think he will TKO Cotto within 9.

What your saying are just excuses!!! Pac is one of the Greats now. When he's about to take MAB every critics said He's biting more than he can Chew. He takes EM, they say he's too small, He takes DLH, he's too small again, they say it's impossible for pac to win. When Pac was still at 130 they say Hatton will kill Pac. Now Pac Beat the hell af all their asses you guys come out with these excuses.
Now Pac was about to take out Cotto. what will be your excuse again???
Pac Beat The best opponents available, he didn't duck nobody. He defied logic. He proved Critics wrong. He wins spectacularly. Very few can top that.

97-98 ....Cmon VD you know damn well he is no 97 or 98th ranked atg.....
Even if you don't want to agree with the top 10....and until all is said and done I would not rank him there but a top 25 certainly
Do you have any idea how many great fighters there's been in the history of Boxing? Being ranked in the top 100 is a great accomplishment. Why make it an insult?
Re: Manny Pacquao, How great is he???
Sorry Pacbest i cant agree with you pac is a great fighter. But even if he beats Cotto i still cant rank him above Leonard he beat better fighters. Not only that but he was able to do more in the ring as well. Pac is should be rated along the lines of Holyfeild or Hopkins ithink thats fair enough.

Been here since 2004 so it would take more than a knob jocky like your self to make me quit this site.
I guess back in 2004 you would have been about 3 or 4 years old which would make you around 8 or 9 now.
Re: Manny Pacquao, How great is he???
Vd has a point there has been alot of great fighters. But think he just rates things different then others do how you rate Pac Porky. Do you really think he was better in the ring then Ali or Leonard i sure dont. Those are the people you guys are saying he belongs with i dont see it. I think people have a major problem with overrating him then underrating him. I think he is along the lines of Mayweather, Mosley, Jones, Hopkins, Holyfeild or a Mosley. Making him some were in top 30. But when you talk about top 10 guys you talk about Duran, Leonard, Ali or Robinson which i think is a total different story in terms of legacy, skill and resume who those guys fought.

Than stop whining about how you almost left. Seriously what was the point in that? I certainly don't give a fukk if you do or don't.
If I'm 9 years old than your clearly a female. A bitter female who just looks for something to complain about. Case in point.
I'm thinking your a Pac fan. Ok. Fine. Now tell me. What exactly bothered you about my post? Was it me calling him a sure Hall of Famer? Top 100 all time? Maybe when I said his accomplishments were great and he's had a great career? That rub you the wrong way? Those are compliments. What more you want?
Wait. I think i know. The problem is that's not good enough for you, huh? I didn't get on my knees and give Pacquiao his daily virtual blow job like you and the other Pac groupies do. There was no "Pacquiao is the greatest who ever lived." No "Pacquiao would destroy Ray Robinson and Roberto Duran" talk. The "Pacquiao looks so dreamy" references were also missing. So because I didn't do that you take my post as an attack on Pacquiao. :vd: Your fukking pathetic.

You know what I was thinking which is worse, the Pac groupies or the Hatton groupies? While both are good fighters, their fans come up with a lot of ridiculous stuff. They both overrate their fighters and they both come up with lame excuses why their man lost.
Re: Manny Pacquao, How great is he???
pac haters are the worst, they cant think of anything bad to say about pac so they turn to insulting the pacfans, casual boxing fans, anyone who mentions pacs name and filipinos in general.
pac doesnt belong at top 10 but he sure is an ATG. stop making excuses that jmm beat him twice, to some maybe thats your opinion. jmm shouldve kod pac for a sure win but he cant jmm found himself on the canvass instead. and a W on his record is a win against jmm.
hatton lost cause he stuck his face infront of pac? well thats not pacs fault, hatton did not adjust against pac and he deserved what he got. hatton was the same against pbf and he wasnt able to finish hatton the same way as pac did.

Re: Manny Pacquao, How great is he???
This guy Manny Pacquao... is a total unknown, as far as I am concerned. What would he be great at? Having a name similar, almost identical to that of P4P numero uno, Manny Pacquiao?
********
Can't help it guys. How can Manny Pacquiao be great at this point, if we can't even spell his name right! LOL.
However, we do need to release some steam, especially the big boys!
Let us all just stay away from any Pacquiao discussions... for his rise to fame, amazing as it is, is littered with fallen heroes for some of us. This is baggage that is indeed hard to let go, however logically, it is necessarily so.
A few more hundred barrels of ale, greyed out goatees, and little pinches of maturity, then can we move on and be at a level objective, as to enlighten and display wisdom to this topic we are attempting to be impartial about.
As for now... the topic is moot because Mayweather is actually number one, and Marquez is numero uno!:)

I say the guy is one of the best 30 fighters of all time & you throw a fit over it. You do realize the significance of that? A sport that's been around something like its current form for a 125 years or so, & he is one of the 30 best practitioners in that time says a lot about how highly I rate him. But no according to you, I'm trying to make excuses. Hey, I wasn't the one comparing him to Ali, Duran & Ray Leonard. He is great now, but so were those guys, can't help if I (& most boxing fans) rate them higher.
I've said he'll beat Cotto, & I give him full credit for beating Barrera. The problem with you is that unless someone praises Pac unequivocally & says he's the best of all time, you lose your minds & see it as 'hate'. I swear if he ran over a toddler, you'd probably say the child was a Marquez fan & asked for it :-\

Pac is an atg, but where he ranks is for debate because everyone's list is different. No one's insulting Pac fans just that some of his fans are on their idiotic ramblings when someone doesn't praise him enough. He beat MAB there's no excuse for that, he beat JMM at least once imo, he beat Hatton, I just never rate Hatton highly, and it's Hatton's die hard fans that are using the excuses, not boxing fans in general. Real boxing fans just saw the huge talent gap between the 2 and believe that at any point of Hatton's career he would still lose this version of Pac. There's no debate on that.

He is by no means invincible or any shiit like that, I think Mayweather beats him. And there are also question marks over Cotto. I mean how much did Margarito take out of him. Look at how he looked in the Clottey fight. I don't think Pacquiao will gain massive amounts of great credit if he beats Cotto. Of course he'll gain a lot and so he should. But Mosely is pretty much the man at welterweight right now, and Cotto looks to be on the slide. And I think when Pacquiao beats Cotto (Which I think he will) people will raise the question of the catchweight at what they fought. IMO anyways.
which a lot of people including you thought he was gonna get slaughtered in those fights... the hating continues and so on.....
