It's pretty messed up all right. Here in Ireland a few years ago the husband of a famous TV chef (Darina Allen) was charged and pled guilty to having almost 1000 pornographic images of children on his PC. What did he get? A slap on the wrists; Community service, a €40,000 fine (nothing to millionaires) and placement on the sex offenders register (Ooooh, that'll show him!)
He basically got off scot-free because of celebrity status.
It seems that artistic genius can almost be interpreted as a type of get out of jail free card, as sympathizers usually use that as an excuse for having an imbalance in judgment.
Now lets have a show of hands from people who think that, although he murdered two innocent young girls, Ian Huntley was a fantastic janitor... a genius at cleaning if you will.
Doesn't sound right, does it? :-\
very good post Oggie! poloanski raped a 13 yr old the end!
he should be in jail! all these actors & actresses who work with him should be ashamed of themselves! they should refuse to work with him!
100% right my friend. The likes of whoopi goldberg and debra messing need a good slap and an introduction to the real world. Just because a certain amount of time has elapsed dont mean shit. Should the authorities not have chased down that b*****d who killed the 3 civil rights workers in mississippi in the 60s just because it was so long ago? Or Gary Ridgeway because he hadnt murdered in years. Murder is murder, rape is rape and personally i wouldnt waste the price of a bullet on him. Throw him into a room full of angry women

Natilie Wood's mother pimped her out to get famous.

let's not forget that there are a large number of people who are quite happy to get used and abused by these people just so they are famous by association.

I'm certainly not trying to justify or excuse what Polanski did, but in a recent documentary film about this case i'm pretty sure (well not really) the girls mother knew she was already having sex, taking drugs and attending adult parties and the like.
The guy doesn't have a history of being a predatory peado preying on young girls, right?

Ya well I don't buy any part of that as a justification. It is kinda like saying, that poor Bernard Madoff, him and his kind have all sortsa people coming to them throwing money hoping to get rich. Except worse, cuz it's a childs innocence being taken and that can't ever be replaced.
I know you're not condoning it, but also I just don't see the justification at all.

You're right I not condoning what I did but where was the partental responsibility in letting her go to him? It doesn't give him a right to do what he wants but we also know those in Hollywood are judged differently and people offer themselves up to be part of the in-crowd.
Hell it happens in the playground, the geeky kid who wants to fit in.

Hey, no problem spreading the blame around. Parent, people associated. Anyone who wasn't looking out for a minor. Anyone who turned the other cheek. Just needs to be a careful line not to cross, in blaming the kid in any way, or forgiving him in any way.
It is slippery slope which eventually leads to some form of..."yea, she was only 10, but dressed like a whore, so" and that is the typical predator mindset for doing what they do. "They wanted it."
Know what I mean?
