Cotto has been fighting far far better competition in an absolute sense than Manny has. You stick David Diaz, Ricky Hatton and a 147 lb Oscar in with Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey and Shane Mosely and they are all getting mashed up.
Manny went life and death with Marquez twice, most people thinking Marquez won those fights and Marqeuz didn't win a single round against Floyd, he was embarrassed as much as Jeff Lacy was against Calzaghe.
Cotto is a HUGE step up from a past it, and never that great Ricky Hatton, and a completely weight drained and shot Oscar.
Manny is in for the fight of his life.
I'd love to see Manny do it, he's a superstar and a fantastic fighter, but Cotto is a great fighter in his own right, and will imo be too big and too strong for Manny.
Yes Manny has speed, but Cotto isn't slow, he went in and beat Shane Mosely after all, and speed aside Manny is outgunned in every other attribute.
I think a lot of people will make some smart money on Cotto ending Manny inside the distance.
Cotto is aggressive, and if he hurts Manny he won't let him off the hook.
In 2010 Cotto vs Mayweather will be THE fight the fans want.
Nope, if theres one thing that will pull manny thru the fight it is his iron will.
Cotto has excellent skills but in several fights i've seen that oh s*** look on his face when he got into trouble. Loaded gloves or not all Cotto had to do to beat Margarito in those later rounds was bob weave, get in get out, instead he tried to slug it out (which takes strong will) but it takes an iron will to get up when your knocked down. If it turns to a slug fest Pacquiao comes out on top. No one ever said Hatton wasnt that good until Manny obliterated him, all I heard for weeks was "Hatton is undefeated at 140, and too scrappy for Pacquiao". By the way I love Cotto, one of my favs but at the moment Pacquiao has been steam rollin fighters so im not gonna get off the train until someone can prove otherwise!
You mean fights against other top WW's? Cotto actually looked like he was in a fight? No kidding?
Saying that kinda reminds me of how pac looked against morrales in the first fight, or in against JMM in both fights...You mean that look?
Exactly, Cotto is always in a fight because he takes on proper WW's. Manny is being boosted on the back of DLH and Hatton, but as we have seen, Manny can be taken deep in fights. The Hatton fight might have been the worst thing for Manny because he might well believe he can deal with full on WW's. I'm far from convinced of this and think Hatton showed up in less that desirable shape.
Cotto is going to be a beast and one that can adapt as the fight goes along. Cottos blows will be the more meaningful wheras Manny's will be more flashy. I think Cotto is going to stop him.
Re: Just some thoughts about Floyd's latest comments
I hope Cotto wins because he stands the best chance of beating Floyd.

No no no my friend, yes the morrales and two JMM fights were very close but Pacquiao's countanance doesnt change, he doesnt get that im in trouble look, cotto does from time to time. Pacquiao has excellent confidence in his abilities and im not sure Cotto has that right now. Does it really matter if Cotto has been fighting top welterweights when he is a top welterweight, compared to Manny fighting top lightweights when he is a top lightweight? I mean if Manny moved up in weight and has settled in very well, does that really give Cotto a big advantage like everyone seems to think? I hope this fight will be what its hyped up to be, cant weight. My official prediction is........Winner Manny Pacquiao 11th round TKO! But a war to the finish!

Not sure about that. From all the guys people say Floyd is "ducking", I think Cotto would be the easiest when it comes to his defense, speed, prone to get cut, and so on. If I could give Cotto an edge, it would be on his punching power maybe but that's it. When was the last time we saw Floyd getting connected or hurt with flurries or more than one punch?
I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd picks Cotto as his next opponent instead of Paul Williams, Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao, etc.

Same here. Can't imagine this fight finishing in a decision.
Re: Just some thoughts about Floyd's latest comments
I hope who ever wins, does it quickly and do not take it out of each other. I want them fresh to slice and dice Floyd. :)

hatton already destroyed malignaggi. why would pbf fight somebody who came from a loss (though controversial), and also lost convincingly to someone he destroyed too?(hatton)
