I can picture you hurling them across the room every time you read one of Lyle's posts.
My girlfriend spilt a glass of wine into one in Amsterdam last week, although I did almost throw it a few times due to rubbish speeds. Last week was a nightmare internet-wise. I generally manage to drop them. I must have been through 20 in the last few years although I get them from work and just give them to people I know, family etc. I must have bust at least ten though. They really are delicate things, the Toughbook was great but the hard drive went, or something technical.

Beside the wine of glass, how can you bust so many? I have my second one life time at the moment, the other went down after 6-7 years, well, the battery gave up which means my laptop had to be always connected to an electricity source and 256 megs of ram were now absolutely not enough to carry the load of today's programs. I changed it afterward for the one I have at the moment but I never busted one whatsoever. Do you have some secret anger management problem that you just expose on your laptop instead of keeping it inside or expelling it over other peoples or? ;)

It's horrible to type on and I got ripped off on the price too, paying £450 for it about 18 months ago and then seeing better specced laptops for cheaper in Staples.
Generally I really like Dell, I have a 24 in widescreen Dell Monitor that is lush but I really resent buying this piece of shit laptop.
I would recommend buying anything other than a Dell....
I guess they saw a 4 1/2 foot guy with gray hair and a cape to be an easy target....
I bought a compaq about a year and half ago and it's been running really great.. One of the keys got jammed on this, but they pull of easy and click back in like a charm (was just dirt under the key). The only problem I have with is that it came with Vista, and the hardware probably isn't quite good enough to run vista well. So it can be a bit slowly and clunky when i'm doing a bunch of stuff, but that is rare...
No complaints with Compaq at all.. Quite happy with it actually and this was a relatively low end model.. About $1000 Australian which I don't know, is probably about 450 pounds... I could probably have found it for $700 if I looked hard but I wanted to buy it on interest free terms and pay later, so had to get it from a specific store..

I sat on one, managed to snap the screen bit off a couple, the dogs got to others, at least one ended up in little bits on the lawn. Every six months or so a security guy from work turns up to upgrade my work computers' security system and they leave me new laptops with new security on and tell me not to use the old ones so I give them to familyetc. But I have managed to bust quite a few. One went into a canal in Amsterdam one weekend!

So far, I've managed to decide that I need a laptop and not a netbook (I think) and I know what criteria I want the machine to have, but I have no idea how to find out which laptop to buy.
So here are the criteria:
Price: Under $1,000; preferably under $700-$800, but if I really like the computer I'll be willing to spend a bit more. But I'm cheap, so the less it costs the better
Battery life: This is important to me, ideally I'd like the computer to have well over 3 or 4 hours because of my horrendous addiction to Saddo's. Oh, and because of homework... yeah homework...
Graphics: I'm not much of a gamer, so that's not a huge deal (though I wouldn't mind if it did allow me to play some games or at least allowed me to upgrade it to a gaming capable machine), but it absolutely must allow me to stream boxing and hockey (and other sports) and to watch tv shows/movies etc. Which brings me to my next point...
Internet capabilities: It needs to be fast enough for me to watch boxing streams, sports etc. and to browse/download etc. at a fast speed.
Size: I'd like it to be as portable as possible, so ideally it would be around the 13" - 14" range (just like it's prospective owner if you know what I'm saying... :p)
I'd also like it to be a reliable machine.
Ok, I think that's it. I'm going to pretend that people actually took the time to read this bullshit and I appreciate any suggestions you have.
4GB of Memory
160GB of DiskSpace
At least 2GHz Core Duo
If you have this. Its all good
Re: Help CFH choose a laptop.
Theres some great clubs that do well ripe nude lap tops.
The pole is outdated, dont waste your money there.
Tell me what you think of this laptop
So after a long search I think I've found the budget laptop I am after, so I am asking for some knowledgeable opinions on this machine:
STAPLES | BUREAU EN GROS
Thanks.
Re: Help CFH choose a laptop.
It asks for a Canadian Zip Code. Just copy the model into google and link it there. How much?

for 600 bucks, this is a very good computer. Acer is a good company and you do not get wrong with this one for sure.

Or after Kirkland made some remarks about how the girls in the red windows were hot in front of his girlfriend... ;)
