Having said that, it's fuck all to do with him being a superstar. He's not doing too badly.

I agree with Ono's post & I agree with Piye's last post, there are a lot of people who aren't racist themselves who would rather pretend that it doesn't exist or as long as racist slurs aren't used, it's all fine & dandy, when racism in Britain is far more subtle these days & there's been a heavy backlash against Muslims in the media, particularly over the past few years since 7/7.
That being said, Khan saying he'd be a superstar if he was white is stupid. His being Asian was a part of what has been used to promote him, as Fenster pointed out he's already a star way beyond where his status should have him. Outside Haye & Hatton, he's the only British boxer the general public know. Some people no doubt do dislike Khan because of his race, but the hype, the Frank Warren association & personal vendettas generated by him beating old Mexican legends *cough Missy & Miles cough* show there are plenty of other reasons people might like.
One thing though, I do find it hilarious how some people are saying because no one's racially abused him to his face then he hasn't got a point. Think about that, even the dumbest racist wouldn't be stupid enough to get in his face & racially abuse a man who could probably kill him with a punch he wouldn't see coming.

It is like that here in the States as well...Probably more so in some cases...Remember what happened on 9\11...Regardless of who did it many peop[le blame anyone within 5 countries of Iraq, Pakistan, Iran etc....
Here they are all called Deli owners, towel heads, and much worse...Here I think we maybe more racist then the UK by far with any race not just Middle easterns....I mean hell mate 50yrs ago Blacks were not even allowed to drink from public water fountains....Now our leader is Black..
Talk about coming a long way in a short amount of time.....
So I would not say it is in the UK he suffers only but again he nis a big name on the verge of a superstar....Like I said before though attitude has much to do with it.....
The last thing people want to hear today with the economy in such trouble is a guy making 6 and 7 figures a yr talking about people don't like me and if I was white I would be loved blah blah blah

There is an important point that nobody has mentioned though here and it applies to all interview comments not just Amir's.
But we don't know what Amir was asked that provoked such a response. He doesn't just ring the press up and make an announcement, obviously he was being interviewed, and clearly they asked him a question, and he answered it.
It puts a different perspective on things, he might have been asked 'Do you feel that you are prejudiced against in some ways, that some people view you negatively on account of your race?', etc and he answered the way he did because he felt strongly about it at that moment.
Amir doesn't control what headlines are made about him, or what quotes the press will grab and run with.
He's just a young kid who answers questions asked to him honestly. I like that he says what he thinks, and doesn't give false politically correct statements all the time.
He wears his heart on his sleeve and isn't afraid to state his views. Nothing wrong with that at all imo.
I also find it ridiculous that some people can dislike him because of an interview response he made, he's just young, talented and confident, qualities that are generally not admired.

Khan is probably the hottest prospect in the world, he's been a household name since he was 17, he has electrifying handspeed, is now displaying one punch ko power and was already a big enough draw to bring a Hall of Fame legend over to the UK to fight him in his own backyard.

What Jaz said was right, however I don't think just because is rich that he shouldn't be able to complain against racism.

To be champion should mean you are elite , the best , this is not the case with prospects.

It's an age and potential thing. Khan is a prospect because we don't yet know how far he may go in the sport, he may just end up a beltholder, he may end up in the p4p and a multiple weight champ. He's only 22, of course he's a fucking prospect :D
Berto won a vacant belt I believe, he's young, he's a world champ, we don't yet know how good he is, he's yet to face an elite fighter, he's still a prospect.

The transition comes when they a) reach a certain age, and thus their physical prime, and b) fufill their potential or prove themselves against the best in their weight class.
Thus Tim Bradley is no longer a prospect, he's 25 and has defended his belt against legitimate contenders now, he's a champion.
If Berto beats Mosely he will be a champion, right now he's a prospect.

I think it's more murky than you say. By your own definition Andre Ward is most definitely not a prospect. He's 25 years old and has just defeated the universally recognized premier fighter in his division. He is a champion on the same level as Timothy Bradley. The only difference is that Bradley has had more defenses, but the stature of Kessler prior to the Ward fight was far above that of anyone Bradley defeated.
