There were also other viable opponents, like Bradley for example but like I said, his management wont let him fight Pacquiao without the tests, the only fighters that will are Bob Arums fighters, which is why you might see Pacquiao in with Margarito;D
Manny agreed to random blood test up until 24 days before and immediately after the fight.
But Bradley has been fighting at the 140 lb weight division. Manny would be critized for asking Bradley to go up in weight. Give me another worthy opponent. And Margarito does not deserve to have his license back this early.
Then it isn't truly "random" is it?
If I tell you to pick a number between 5 and 15, can it be considered random? Random means with no order or plan.
& taking a test after the fight is a complete joke. The test is meant to prevent the cheater from stepping into the ring & potentially injuring someone.
Re: Pacquiao possibly to retire after Clottey
Good god, we're not gonna start another blood testing thread are we?
Some people, believe one side.............Some people, believe the other side.
NO PEOPLE ARE GOING TO CHANGE THEIR VIEWS!!
So let's get back to my question. ;D
I understand he is considered a bit of a joke politically and lost pretty bad last time, BUT what if he wins the election? It seems that boxing fans are writing this off as a foregone conclusion he's going to lose. Someone's got to win and in politics anything can happen.

But that is already above and beyond what is required by the Nevada Boxing Commission. Maybe if Floyd insisted on the blood test up until the fight, Manny might have agreed to a 14 days but we wouldn't know, would we? Maybe it's because Manny did not want to give in to Floyd's demand since he had no authority to dictate a new regulation. There are a lot of 'maybes' so I give Manny the benefit of the doubt in the absence of any credible evidence that he is using PEDs.

I agree with you that this should have already been a dead topic. But people keeps bringing it up and I feel the urge to bring up the other side of the story. This forum should be seen as balanced, is it not? To the other posters, give the blood test issue a rest and you won't be hearing from me. They moved on so we must move on.
You have a good question there. What if Pacquiao wins the election, what happens to his boxing career?

Honestly, I am not interested about the result of his elections, what matters to me is his boxing skills and what he can achieve on the ring. If he drops the floyd's fight for a matter of blood test, what I think is quite clear, no matter what: Legacy stained, though I wouldn't accuse him automatically of enhancing drug use.

My interest in the election results is how it relates to his boxing though. Say he does win, what does that do to the possibility to a fight with Mayweather?
Does it make it impossible in the short term? Does it eliminate the opportunity for the duration of his term in office?

Ok, from that angle, I would say: the biggest publicity stunt ever to increase his popularity infront of the public, even a lost could easily be marketed to increase the whole thing.

But that is what happened. Mayweather originally wanted up to the date of the fight & Pacquiao wanted 30 days. Mayweather spit the difference & compromised right in the middle, 14 days. Pacquiao was only willing to budge 6 days. From 30 to 24.
But I agree. The fact that Pacquiao's reaction was suspicious proves nothing. But it does prove he reacted suspicious to a very serious accusation. In the end he alone looks bad. The general public perception of him is unfavorable because of his suspicious reaction. These days being on PEDs & steroids is worse than anything else in the world of sports. Even those who are simply accused are picked apart by the media. Why did Pacquiao think any different would happen to him? He made his bed & he has to lay in it.
Also, I agree it's above what the commission wants, but as I understand both fighters had the right to make any demand they wanted. Pacquiao made that outlandish weight penalty demand & Mayweather made the random blood testing demand. Whether either demand was warranted or not is neither nere nor there. It's a demand. If Mayweather demanded 30 cases of ice cream bars in his dressing room on fight night, he had the right to at least ask for it even tho it's foolish. Thats the whole point of being able to make demands.

+++++++++++
It is reported here that he has a better chance of winning this year. If he wins, he will have to be sworn in sometime in July. No one in the press, to my knowledge, has addressed the issue if he can still box and be able to stay in Congress. My gut feeling is that Congress would give him a leave to make this mega fight.

Really? I get mad when my representitives take a day off for golf. Ah well what's more important? Rebuilding Baguio city or a fight with Mayweather?

Remember this is the Philippines where things are very different. He is a national hero here, but not for his acting on the screen or political ambitions, The public here will definitely want that fight to happen.
Re: Pacquiao possibly to retire after Clottey
The PED contreversy is so clear cut for me personally. Facts are facts ladies and gents. If you do research...you clearly will find that the drugs are ahead of the CURRENT TESTING in sports. The ONLY way to know 100% if an athlete is clean is to have a muscle biopsy done. No organizing sports body is going to allow that...and even if they did...good luck having 99% of the athletes being open to it. The fact that Pac was hesitant to even have his blood tested up to a certain point is clearly suspicious. When someone uses incredibly lame excuses like: "pride", "it will weaken me", etc....they look even MORE suspicious. If i am a professional athlete...and right or wrong...i am being accused/suspected of doing PED's...and i know i am clean...i would not hesitate to do WHATEVER it takes to clear my name. Bottom line. Now don't get me wrong...it would not shock me if many superstars, including Floyd, have done or are currently on PED's. But for whatever reason...the spotlight is on Pac right now. So why not take the test...clear your name...and go on to fight? If he wins...he could shove it downs Floyd's throat even more. But no...he is evading it...haggling with the issue...using lame excuses. So he deserves the heat.
Re: Pacquiao possibly to retire after Clottey
Exactly!
The tests Nevada does currently are useless and like someone said testing after the fight is pointless, we have Toney, Jones jr and Mosely that have failed tests but after they have won their fights, the damage was done, too late.
Manny could have offered Mosely the bout before Floyd did, theres another opponent along with Bradley.
As far as Bradly not being a viable opponent because of his size, it was Arum who mentioned him as an opponent along with Malignagi:rolleyes:
the reason he couldnt fight Bradley was his management said they wouldnt fight Manny without the same tests floyd wanted;D
