Re: Why would dirrel need to act, he was going to win anyway...
It's hard to say for certain, but it did look like he was playing. The bit where he was being interviewed and he thought he'd lost did appear to be akin to a tee-totaller pretending to be drunk.
I'm not saying he was acting, I guess only he knows for sure -the punch didn't seem to catch him flush, and he'd been hit with better shots in the fight, but I will accept that he wasn't ready for it.
I did like the balls of Abrahams in his interview though :)

The punch caught him flush. There's video with slow motion replay.
Anyway, let's say, for the sake of argument that Dirrell was acting. Are you saying that the DQ should only be given if a fighter is illegally KOd? I dont think there is a rule saying that one must be hit while down + almost be KOd from the shot for a DQ to be taken into consideration.

Haye was ahead and if he was a coward im sure he could have stayed down and pretended to be out.
Abraham is a average fighter, but white fighters tend to get hyped up, same with Kelly Pavlik, when they are faced with movement and speed they struggle. Abraham struggled against a faded Jermain Taylor. So what was gonna happen when faced with fresh fighter in his prime ? It was a no brainer. Ward and Dirrell are the two best fighters in the tournament.

Ward and Direl both get owned when they fight away from home. Neither guy carries power.

I didn't say I disagreed with the DQ. Dirrell was clearly down and he was hit by a good punch. The issue is whether, or not, Dirrell was play acting. The Ref was shocking; he missed (or miss-called) two knockdowns and should probably waved the fight off as soon as Abrahams hit him -Dirrell's reaction appears to be the only reason the fight was called off (of course, so useless was the ref that he may have been intending to call off the fight anyway, but just wasn't very decisive)
Re: Why would dirrel need to act, he was going to win anyway...
i dont care if he wasa gonna get knocked out or not it was no reason to hit him why he was down. Everyone knows that was a dirty ass move. If you were winning on point and you knew that you were bout to get knocked out why not use a cheap tactic??? I mean he was so tired that he slipped trying to use his footwork, his legs were noodles already AA could have just waited for him to stand the knockout was there Dirrell couldn't escape it. AA is wayyyy to strong for that i would have stayed down 2 honestly.
Nobody thought anything was wrong when AA caught Taylor with that big ass forearm either.
At the end of the day Dirrell could be called a bitch but at least if he was faking AA was using a dirty tactic the minute he threw that punch so why isn't ok for him to use 1?

Im not saying it was nothing, but clearly a less damaging punch.

i know i'm just talking about the delayed reaction of feelling the punch
Re: Why would dirrel need to act, he was going to win anyway...
There's a difference between taking a shot you see coming and getting smashed with an uppercut when you are knee down on the canvas. It was a shot he was definately not expecting and that's the most dangerous punch you can get hit with and he took it all full velocity without seeing it.
It's really funny how people are trying to compare shots on the canvas and justify what Abraham did to try to say Dirrell is a wimp. Saddening.

Just seen it again now. Disgrace. He hits him, he looks back at Abraham, grabs his nose, takes a second to think about it, and then flops down and rolls round a little bit before starting the leg shaking routine.
On a side note i don't think i've ever witnessed so much one sided commentary. They barely even acknowledged Dirrell's knockdown, refusing to believe that the punch caused it. I can't believe that out of the commentary team, not one of them even questioned Dirrell's play-acting skills.
Dirrell is a 100% shithouse
Google Indian Larry...he was doing some entertaining with his motorcycle at a show. He was standing on his seat while riding his motorcycle fell off without a helmet. He proceeded to get up and wave to the crowd acknowledging he was ok and then collapsed and died. I am sure he was faking it too, I mean others have faked their death

You can't even compare the two incidents. For a start one was a real injury, the other one wasn't.
Re: Why would dirrel need to act, he was going to win anyway...
Dirrell was down, unprotected, unaware a shot was coming and all of you claim Abraham is this powerhouse. I mean hey your right and completely justifying why Dirrell would be faking it.
And thats just that instance not even mentioning Dirrell was winning handily. Couldn't give AA more than 3 rounds ands thats generous.
Re: Why would dirrel need to act, he was going to win anyway...
It is sad and i'm happy he got a dq he deserved that. AA wont challenge andre ward. EVER I'D BET ON THE THAT.

The super-six tournament has shown that white fighters get hyped up and over-rated. Abraham wouldn't have got to Dirrell even if the fight had been 15 rounds. He has NO SKILLS. He just comes forward and that's it. No feints, no headmovement, no bobbing and weaving, no combos, he's got nothing apart from strength. He should take up MMA, that's not diss to him. It's just that I think his style of fighting would be more suited to that.
