So you aren't too bad then. Good. I checked some charts out after you said your pulse was 102 and for a person of your age it indicated that if you had a pulse rate of above 90 you should consult a mortician.
Why not check you pulse rate yourself now? I did mine last night and it was 60, and again this morning when it was a bit more worrying 70 (it should be lower in the morning).
But as a smoker I think 60 is fairly good. I did a 10km run today though just incase! (10km run as a smoker is HARD!) Take it Miles, I want to know (you can probably knock a couple of beats off for being a scaredy cat like me).
;D
If you were relaxed when you took it last night could explain the difference. If you did it everyday and logged it it would give you a better guide. Never tried this but apparently if you did monitor it everyday you can tell if you start to get sick as your pulse will go up before you feel sick...also goes up if you're overtraining.;)
Re: What is your pulse rate?
No, I don't think there is any cause for concern at all. I had no idea it was my blood pressure being tested so overreacted. My actual heart rate appears to be about 69 whilst rested, which seems quite normal for a non-exercising self destructive madman. Regardless, I am stepping up my fitness programme of reducing fat intake and increasing exercise. I walked around the lake today in the pouring rain and got soaked. Managed to do it in 50 minutes and I always walk fast anyway. Women hate walking with me as I leave them behind.
I feel grand and far from death and rampage, which might annoy Bilbo, but I live to annoy people like him.

Are you sure mate? You don't have a rate for blood pressure. It's usually measured in mm-Hg and you should have been given two numbers: systolic over diastolic... for example 120/80
Usually the systolic and diastolic will just go up or down in ratio... so you may have just been given the systolic. If so between 90-120 is desirable, over that is the beginnings of hyper tension but under that could be the beginnings of hyoptension.
A few guys here talked about their HR being up to 180 when working out - nothing to worry about. :)
A very generic equation you can do to get a ball park figure of your theoretical maximum heart rate is to take 220 and minus your age from it. (another, more precise one involves taking this number along with your resting heart rate... but you still end up with pretty much the same number! ;))
For example I'm 24 so my heart rate probably wouldn't be much higher or lower than 196 if I was excerting myself at my maximum. From that number you're supposed to be able to work out your different training thresholds etc... but it's not really that much use for the average exerciser.

Not sure what was going on to be honest and the doctor didn't speak any English. My wife told me it was my pulse rate, but it wasn't. Yeah, there were three things being measured, either way my numbers were much higher than hers. I need to get a doctor to explain what it all means.
Regardless, I'm marching around the lake everyday now and cutting out all junk from my diet. I always ignore my health, so it's about time I bucked the trend.
Re: What is your pulse rate?
it was probably HR and then systolic and diastolic BP then.
Women tend to have lower HRs than men... less mass that needs blood pumping to it.

Yeah, the first number was quite high, the next one really low and the final one I remember as 102. Is that 102 terrible or reasonably okay?
My heart rate is actually much better than I thought at 69, much better than 102 which was kind of alarming and just made it beat even faster. I thought I was having a seizure after the hospital.

Young blood, Victor and Adam GB have the lowest, you fit fuckers!
