So I probably won't die then...

I wasn't sure if there was a limit to how hard you were supposed to push yourself when doing HIIT.

I'd like to see how high it gets when I'm doing a tabata.

just don't try to sue me when you drop dead of a heart attack on your 7th rep...o wait, u can't. cuz ur dead. a hahaha

it's your resting heart rate which is more a measure of how healthy you are. as your cardiovascular health gets better, your resting heart rate will tend to be lower.

Well, day one of the new me. Breakfast of fruits, juices and yoghurts, lunch grilled chicken breast and a jacket potato. Dinner shall be a grilled pork steak with rice. I am going to lettuce next time out to supplement my meals. I am cutting out coffee and coke completely. For August I am also cutting out all alcohol as that gives me a craving for fast food the next day. Earlier today I took an hours walk around the lake and I shall do that everyday.

I am going to keep up my routine for a month and then go back and see if I have made any improvements. Liek Ryanman I am sqeamish and find it hard to relax at the best of times. When they were doing the test my breathing wasn't perfect and my mind was wandering. However, when they did it again the rate was still the same and I was a bit annoyed.

Ah, it seems I am not dying at all. My wife didn't explain properly what was being tested. It was my blood pressure and it seems that a rate of 102 isn't that bad, her rate of 84 is quite good. She is very healthy really, I am much more self destructive and insane. Still, I think I can do a lot to improve myself and will continue with my new regime.

What vegetables do you like Miles? You seem meat/carb heavy.

Potatoes, carrots and onions. I can eat lettuce too, so will buy some of that next time I go shopping. 4 pieces with every meal.

LOL. That's not really a wide range of options. Have you tried things you didn't like as a kid? I hated mushrooms as a kid and love them now. I don't really consider potatoes as a vegetable in the same sense that asparagus, squash, etc., are but whatever. A salad of lettuce, bell pepper, onion and dressing is an option.

Quite true, very limited range. Maybe I should sample some more of these things, but my mind is full of horrid memories. Could maybe take it step by step. Lettuce is a start.

Asparagus. Roasted with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Try it. You could even grate some parmesan on it to make it more palatable. Its solid. Or boil it, and then saute it in a little butter.

Things I hated as a kid and still hate: Squash, zucchini, brussel sprouts. Maybe hate is too strong a word but they're just meh. Bland. You can season them but they're still meh.

I will give the asparagus a go, not really into cheese though so a little salt and pepper will have to suffice. Lettuce and asparagus, if it goes well then I have almost doubled my vegetable range.

Who the fuck isn't into cheese? There may be people who are more into cheese, but I've literally never met someone who didn't like some form of cheese. You're a weird human, even when you're not "bordering on self-parody."

No, I can't disagree with your basic conclusion, though I prefer the term unique over weird. In many ways I really am quite different to most human beings. Physically, psychologically, life choices and yes even in terms of just being able to eat a basic meal. It's not easy being me.

So you aren't too bad then. Good. I checked some charts out after you said your pulse was 102 and for a person of your age it indicated that if you had a pulse rate of above 90 you should consult a mortician.

Why not check you pulse rate yourself now? I did mine last night and it was 60, and again this morning when it was a bit more worrying 70 (it should be lower in the morning). But as a smoker I think 60 is fairly good. I did a 10km run today though just incase! (10km run as a smoker is HARD!) Take it Miles, I want to know (you can probably knock a couple of beats off for being a scaredy cat like me).
