Re: Predictions on Cotto Vs Margarito II
I fully expect Margarito to be dangerous, but I also expect Cotto to stick and move. Outclass the man, don't make the mistake of thinking that the plaster was 100% the reason why Margarito won. I hate Margarito but he's a tough s.o.b. look at how he fought vs Mosley and Pacquiao....it took a while for Shane to stop him and Shane rocked the hell out of the guy, Pacquiao eased off the gas, but still Tony took a whuppin.
What it comes down to for me is confidence and determination. Cotto has to have the determination to stick to the fight plan and not engage Tony on his terms...DON'T BRAWL! Margarito has to have confidence that he can fight the very same way he did the first time without plaster wraps. I think when it gets down to the nitty gritty, Cotto is going to want to win more than Margarito and Tony is going to feel like half a fighter without the added advantage of the plaster wraps.
In the end, I think the left hooks to the eye will swell up Margarito and the ref or his corner (more likely the ref) will stop the fight

Ask Manny Pacquiao that. Pacquiao was holed up in a hospital for days after the Margarito fight and he said that a body shot by Margarito in that fight really hurt him. He's just too much of a champion to show it. I stand by the fact that even in utter defeat, Margarito came into that fight looking good. He's just tailor-made for Manny.
Ya margaritas trainer also had to use two pads on his body remember that all of a sudden now after getting fought with plaster you need two pads for that fag.... Seriously? Freddy roach don't bitch when manny hits him and he's old, sick and can barely react lol.
Sounds like Bob Arum told many to act at one like he got hurt.
You didn't respond to my post. There were pictures documenting him in the hospital. There's no reason why Manny would want to look less invincible. It doesn't make sense. Margarito's a cheating bastard, but he had a punch in that fight or maybe Manny was just at too big of a size disadvantage because the fight was at 150 and the punches really hurt him - the rare ones that landed.

I hope you are right.
Margarito has a heart and an ego for fighting he will have to be stopped by someone else he wont quit.
Cotto has better skills but he has a limit he will go to before he says in his own words he will quit and go home to his family.
Thats my only worry.
I take all that Macho bullshit Margarito spews about not quitting with a grain of salt, it's idiotic not to "quit" when you're taking a serious beating and your health is in danger.
I've never blamed Cotto for quitting in the 1st fight, the plaster Margarito was using in his wraps must have felt like a baseball bat.
P.S. Margarito didn't seem to mind at all when the ref stopped the ass-whippin' he was getting from Mosley.
Ok let's get one thing clear. Cotto said he wouldn't die to win lol people shouldn't mistake that for quitting in a fight huge difference.
Cotto definitely has heart, watch his fights it's easy to tell
Right, and Cotto didn't "quit" when he was taking a pounding in the Pacquiao fight, the ref stopped it, and I believe he even protested a bit.
Re: Predictions on Cotto Vs Margarito II
Cotto wins a decisive decision against Margarito, using his boxing skills, and throwing brutal body shots to keep Antonio at bay.
Re: Predictions on Cotto Vs Margarito II
Hope you are all correct, Cotto deserves the win, I will be calling for him.
Looking forward to this.
Re: Predictions on Cotto Vs Margarito II
My heart say's Cotto, my head say's Antonio.
Cotto has to battle the mental side of it before he can take on Margarito, if he is mentally focused before the fight he has a chance if not then Antonio takes it comfortabley.
Re: Predictions on Cotto Vs Margarito II
When was the last Margarito win that we are certain was plaster free? Has he beat anyone on the top level where we are sure he wasn't using plaster?

The only one that is questionable in my mind is Paul Williams because Paul didn't seem to feel Tony's punches and just plain old outworked the guy.
I think if Cotto sticks and moves (which should be his M.O. as he's never lost doing it) he should win easy. The first half of the fight was easy pickings for Cotto, roll and counter, rip off combinations, and circle out. When Cotto started to stay on the inside and trade is when the damage started to take it's toll on him.
It's difficult stuff to ask a big puncher like Cotto to maybe save up a little of his power for the later rounds, but my line of thinking is quick counters & good movement will tire out Margarito, make his eye bad, and when he's ready to get picked off THEN you can land those big punches.

I'm not saying he was using plaster, but I remember Margarito getting to Williams and buzzing him a few times in the later rounds.

No. And he's gotten utterly dominated twice and looked bad against a nobody in his three fights since getting busted.
I'm not sure why anyone thinks he isn't a totally shot fighter at this point.
Wide UD for Cotto.
