Apparently Pac was really pumped up for Marquez so we can't say he wasn't motivated. Just maybe Marquez has the blueprint finely honed and seeing how Floyd had no trouble with Marquez, you have a really hard time seeing Manny make much of a dent.
you really cannot compare marquez fighting floyd to how pacquiao would fight floyd coz of the styles. it would be better to compare the floyd-ortiz fight to how the floyd-pac fight could turn out. floyd would pick manny apart with better counter-punching and boxing skills early but if manny is on his game he could cause floyd some problems coz he'll keep coming at him or get knocked out trying. watch pacquiao-sasakul fight where all throughout manny was getting outboxed but unlike ortiz who mentally quit, pac didn't quit and manage to get the stoppage in the late rounds. that is the "old" pacquiao i know and i think it will turn up if this fight gets made.
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
note that all of pacquiao's losses and most of his worst performances came against fighters whom he's highly favored to beat, on the other hand most of his best wins are when he's the underdog and most people are doubting him.

Boxing people is just a small percentage of the PPV buys Pac and Floyd are generating. a few people getting fed up maybe accounts to a few thousand.
The real target are the normal people who occasionally watch boxing. These people will surely jump and buy it the minute it is announced because of the hype no matter how overdue it is.
i am pretending at least 1.8M buys
That may be true, but I tell you what, this is a fight i'd definitely buy, and I buy damn few PPV's. Pac and Floyd need to quit squabbling and put this fight together for May, it's pure idiocy not to.

I'd like to believe that Pac vs. Floyd would be competitive. Floyd would certainly have to be the favorite, but I just don't see him being able to dominate Pacquiao, who's got speed to burn, and throws punches in bunches.

This sounds somehow vaguely familiar ;)
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
One the factors that sticks in my head that could equate to an interesting fight. Floyd loves the ropes, he camps on them and I think Pac will have opportunities that were never there with JMM. Jmm used a lot of unique tactics that he developed over the previous 2 fights. PBF has stated many times he could care less about film or studying his opponent, he does what he does and makes adjustments during the fight. I think this will be a lot more competitive then the JMM/PBF triangle theory.

What does pac have that floyd can't nulify? Not a thing if you ask me.
If old man Mosley can connect and hurt Floyd you can bet a juiced up Manny can and more than just the once :)
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
Thats like saying mosely is better than pac because he knocked margarito the fuck out and manny couldn't... ;)
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
Anybody else think the timing of this stinks?... It's little more than a token gesture... Right before mayweather is due to be sentanced he lowers his stake?!
"what? He's in jail?! When did that happen?... Court hearing? Seriously? Today of all days?! Wow... So he's delayed his fight date? Aw man I REALLY wanted to fight him... Look I asked for less money and everything... How was I to know he was in court today? I'd have never said anything if I'd known!"
Translation: yipee... With floyd out of the way I can fight marquez again and make some dough... I just hope he finally gets old like I was hoping last time
(whether you think that was meant to be bob arum talking or pacman is up to you... Depends if you actually give pac credit for the decisions that get made... Personally I don't, he's 'just doink my yob, talk to my promoter, bob arum')
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
that as bad as claiming Pac put on a shit showing last time out to get Floyd to finally fight him ;D

not quite the same thing... Plus Margarito's chin is used to being hit not many have the speed to get to Floyd's but when they do he gets hurt... DLH, Mosley... hell even Zab and Hatton early doors.
Floyd is great and not only at boxing but the fine art of when to hand pick his fighters ;)
This is a great fight because anything could happen... Floyd could counter all night and KO manny or run like he did against the legend that is Baldomir :-\ nicking a points victory.
I just feel Manny has the Speed to connect and the workrate to sustain it and the power to KO him... i really see Floyd having a rabbit in the headlights look if this fight ever even happens. :)

that was a week ago when pacquiao said it. it's not like he already knows floyd would be sentence to some jail time. besides, the lower purse thing is being blown out of proportion. he didn't actually come out and make an official announcement, he was being asked a question about making the mayweather fight and he answered "no problem at all even if i get the smaller purse, what's important is we can make the fight". it was all in passing, then nick giongco of manila bulletin took what pac said, played it up and made it his story which foreign boxing media then picked up.
if you're going to play hidden agenda, think about floyd already knowing his plea deal on the case when he called out pacquiao for cinco de mayo.
Re: Pacquiao lowers share; fight likely
There was a fighter named James Scott who beat quite a few people from behind bars just before Eddie Mustapha Muhammad became light heavyweight champion. Eddie lost a decision. So maybe par per view is on to something here. Vultures gotta eat too.
