Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
let the fighters fight? Peterson cheated. He won't be licensed to fight.
gabe montoya of maxboxing broke the story first and is still working on it.
reason no one was notified was because of confidentiality. The deals with VADA are signed with the fighters-not HBO or the promoters.
Peterson's A sample turned up positive. His team didn't notify GB(which they could have). They asked for the backup same, sample B, to be tested and it came back positive as well.

Yup, because Peterson has admitted to using the same banned substance prior to the 1st fight with Khan last year. So he cheated to win the first fight, and continued using it to get ready for the rematch.
So 'no contest', Amir gets his titles back and no fight May 19th, Peterson can kiss his career goodbye.

Can't really believe it of Peterson, this tarnishes him now

Peds have been apart of major sports since dbol back in the 60s. Hitler had the first roid created for his superior race. Once people stop being naive, and realize this shit is rampant then this type of shit won't be a surprise. I think every pro is on something. But that's just me. Roids still don't ruin any sport for me. I've seen many a drug user get beat or smoked. Roads don't make the athlete. Skills are skills.
Based on the fact that he was pushing for the tests. I'm not saying no chance in hell he's guilty you would have to be a fucking moron to push for the tests knowing you will get caught.
Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
He may have pushed for the tests assuming he wouldn't get caught because he hasn't before, like so many others. That sounds more on point to me. Have they confirmed that it was some form of testosterone he was taking as well? There is a big gray area in all sports with that kind of thing, along with growth hormones etc.
Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
I'll never stick up for a cheater. Mistakes happen in life but if he has intentionally cheated then fuck him. Lives can be lost in the ring.

You can't mistakenly take test. It's either a needle or a rub on. The rub is useless for athletes. Not enough testosterone. Soo all these excuses athletes give is total bullshit. They know wtf they are doing. Peterson thought he wouldn't get caught. End of story. Now he is getting stripped as he should.

Infact i think Prescott KO's him again.
prescott won v mclousky too
that was a bad decision by a few rounds
Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
by the way, im not too down on peterson about this coz i reckon drug taking is a lot more widespread than most would expect and peterson is probably just one of the unlucky ones

Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
This is why boxing needs this kind of strong testing - to stop cheaters and make sure the playing field is even. Either everyone should be able to use illegal drugs or no one should. But it isn't fair if one is using and the other is not. The law is the law. It must be followed. It isn't fair to a fighter's health, finances, or record for him to lose to a guy on drugs when he is not using. Only very lengthy suspensions and solid testing will minimize the use of illegal substances.
Re: Lamont Peterson positive for Taking drugs? Khan fight off????
Call it off and ban him. Set an example and teach him a lesson. He won me over with the Khan fight, but cheating is deplorable.

Yup, a banned form of synthetic testosterone, the same one Peterson has already admitted taking before the 1st fight with Khan. He's a cheater, plain and simple, and a dumb one.

Hate to see fights cancelled because of all this nonsense.
He's had anabolic-steroid-releasing implants ("pellets") since before the first fight. Sure they can take them out and he might not have abnormally high T-levels on fight-night, but he's had the advantage of them during training, which is a much bigger deal.
I'm very curious to see what the Peterson camp's explanation is. The two things that make no sense to me are:
1. If you have actual steroid implants, why would you agree to hardcore olympic-style testing (and not remove them and flush your system immediately)?
2. Why come out and admit that you had them already at the time of the first fight? (I mean, the honesty is good, I'm just wondering why they would volunteer this -- I don't think it's just because they're good people.)
Yes, it's all very weird. As to your second question, maybe they figured it would come out anyway, and released the information as damage control.
