Ayy, Kinda... S'weead(it's weird) ta type in my accent. I do kinda tawk like that. I say shit like pissa and pahk the cah... We drop the Rs from everything and say ah instead... car is cah... far is fah... ya know?
The Departed is a film where they talk like us pretty well... Funny part is the person that is actually FROM here has the worst accent in the movie... Damon... I guess from years of getting rid of it, it came out labored in the movie:-\

Boozeboxer, of course we have southern accents I was just correcting DarkLordAl for saying I'm from "The Deep South" Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and South Carolina are not the DEEP South...they are just southern states....but all our foreign friends had better recognize that a Southern accent can be very welcoming and frinedly OR....it can be the scariest thing you've ever heard in your life.....
Yall come back now, ya hear :wavey:
Some women are more easily impressed than others. I'm sure anybody down there in Pissflaps who has a tractor (or a North Carolina pussy magnet as they're known in your part of the world) is a major celebrity. But in the shoe-wearing regions of the country American women are far less easy to impress. They do find English accents attractive though.

What the fucks this dude been smokin'?
I take it his artist name REALLY means something....
James Blunt
For my people with some street cred should catch on to that one... ;)
the most gratingly annoying voice I've ever heard.
I hadn't heard it for a while but my CD player in my car's broken so I was going through the radio stations the other day and heard it, flipped the channel before he had even vomited out the first line but the damage was done, day pretty much ruined.

Re: OK England....that's enough!
Interestingly,of all American accents, linquisticly the Southern Accent is the most closely related to the British one
Where other regions had numerous different ethnicities, the South was almost exclusively English.
I just thought Lyle should know that

North Carolina was the site of the FIRST colony but NC became filled with the Scots-Irish shortly thereafter
Kirkland, your sunshine smile attitude always brightens my day....I don't know how the South gets along without you. Well until you get back here we'll just keep ourselves warm by your burning effigy

Thats called point avoidance Lyle, you live in a region with an accent thats closer to a British one then anywhere in the states, but 3 commercials with a full British accent cheeses you off

It's more than just 3 commercials, I can find more of them but I was just trying to get a point across.
The Southern accent may be close to an English accent but when it comes down to it, the Southern accent IS different and therefore NOT the English accent and so your point is????

My point is
A)So what you have to hear a few commercials, and maybe the occaisional Hugh Grant film you probably wouldnt want to watch anyway since its a chick flick
B)Just because he says stuff in a Southern Accent, doesnt mean Ron White isnt funny

North Carolina is and has always been "north" of the "Mason/Dixon" line.

A) Why would you need an English accent to sell things IN AMERICA....it doesn't make sense
B) Who said anything about Ron White being funny?
Why must you always search out my posts to disagree with them...can't you just sit back and say "You know what, I never thought why a Gekko would have an English accent and also sell insurance in AMERICA....maybe Lyle is right and Geico's marketing strategy is complete shit"....why use an English accent to sell AT&T laptop connect cards? Why use one to sell anything other than products FROM ENGLAND and even then why use them to sell products IN AMERICA?
-

How about because it works?
I dont think any of the ad reps who came up with the Gieco commercials talk with a thick cockney accent
They probably all talk like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho
My point on the Blue Collar Tour(which I find funny)Larry The Cable Guy doesnt really talk like that at all,he really doesnt have an accent,he affects a Southern accent for his "character"
But try saying Gett'R Done without a southern accent,it just sounds stupid
But I dont get all bent about F-the South
Take pills or something, its just an accent
-

Because adverts don't sell a product generally, they sell aspirations ..... so the use of a foreign accent reinforces national stereotypes (whether or not they are true or not) .... thus a perfume sold in a French accent is supposed to imply sophistication and sex etc.
Cleraly, you would not want to use and English accent to sell dentistry, or indeed an American one to sell anti-obesity or intelligence pills. These things are not true, but adverts are not about the truth.

Yes that was funny Trainer...I don't know how he could figure that North Carolina is in the North....Richmond the 2nd Capital City of the CSA is farther North than North Carolina.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ghost lived on the Moon, Pride

It was relocated there in 1860 to allow Virginia to join the "South".
North Carolina did not join the "South" until the following year.
Don't you all read the history books?
