The biggest knock on Pac is that his JMM victories are suspect. This comes down to matchups. Marquez is probably the toughest out there for him from a matchup point of view. In another thread, somebody accurately compares JMM's skill and to Kostya Tzsyu and points out that KT was brilliant against Pac-type fighters. He could neutralize speed with timing and counterpunch brilliantly. Well, Pac has managed to have two extremely close fights with a guy who is his worse matchup AND is P4P #2 in the world. Marquez is an amazing fighter who has gotten better with age. Even if you think he lost to Marquez, it doesn't diminish much from from the equation.
I'm not picking Pac in this fight just yet, but I will give Mayweather all credit if he takes this fight. It's by far his biggest risk, even more than Cotto. No knock on Cotto, but it comes down to the matchup.
Zab Judah is a defensive oriented counter puncher.
Pacquiao goes straight forward and tries to plow through you with smart aggression. Zab caught Mayweather with the counter left off of Mayweather lunching.
I don't think Floyd would have to worry about Pacquiao waiting for him to throw in an attempt to counter him.

That's no longer the case. I've noticed his elusiveness during the Pac-JMM rematch.

Pacquiao didn't receive one scratch nor tiny mouse on his face when he fought Diaz, DLH, and Hatton. That should tell you something.

Marquez isn't a guy used to going forward. He is a wonderful precise counter puncher who can go to war and find holes and eventually can break down guys. Actually Marquez is actually at his greatest going forward mostly only when he is finishing someone, which astounds me. But Mayweather is faster then that and would pick his shots against Pacquiao better as I don't think he'd bull in trying to hit him like that, he'd make Pacquiao come forward and try to counter him and even if Pacquiao moved, he wouldn't have hit Mayweather anyway with the first shot Mayweather tried to counter.
People say that people have a plan against Pacquiao before they realise his speed is too much, same can be said for Mayweather.

I disagree. Any of the top natural welterweights have as good of a chance against PBF. Maybe better. Pac is moving up to fight Floyd. A bigger version of Pac would beat PBF.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
I would love to see this fight happen, but i fear Floyd will duck manny, after all, who would want to fight Pacquiao???
He's the best around by far, heres hoping for the super fight but im not holding my breath
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
Floyd isn't ducking Pac. No way. It is another opportunity for him to make super duper coin fighting and probably beating a smaller fighter.
It would also be interesting to see Pac fight Cotto if, of course, Cotto gets past Clottey. Thereby fighting and beating a more legitimate welterweight than PBF has and leaving no doubt as to who has the better HOF resume.

Agreed, it is the only thing that has me uneasy. Mayweather easily beats an orthodox-Pacman but the fact that he is southpaw will give him a lot more trouble. On the flip side, PBF hadnt fought a southpaw in quite a long time. Many of the mistakes in the first 4 rounds will be fixed in training camp I am sure. They had (virtually) no prior experience with southpaws, so Roger and Floyd wouldnt know exactly what to work on. Im sure they will study that fight a whole lot and fix those mistakes because Mayweather was able to survive the 4th round against Judah but I doubt he would against Pacquiao.
Agreed with the second paragraph as well.

I doubt PAC will do it especially if Judah becomes PBF's sparring partner so he can get accustomed to fast southpaws. But I bet b/c of the southpaw issue, this will be his hardest fight. I agree about Cotto too.

Exactamento!!! IMO A bigger version of PAC could pose problems for almost anybody. PAC's only weakness right now is him being small, if he was at least the size(height and frame) of Mosely I'd choose him to beat even Paul Williams.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
PAC was successful against great Mexican boxers...
PAC was very impressive against a Mancunian (White) Mexican...
Maybe PAC will be successful too against a "Black Mexican"...;)

...against Diaz and ODLH, eh? Mentioning them and even in the same line kind of diminishes what Pac has accomplished in more challenging fights he has come out victorious. If I was a PacFan, I would stay away from mentioning Diaz and ODLH really:rolleyes:.
Anyways, those videos you posted are good, but just a small part of what happened that whole night vs JMM 2 and the first one as well. Remember the times where Manny was on wobbly feet and almost going down from body punches? He has shown to improve somewhat in his defense but he can still get connected, something we are yet to see in Floyd Mayweather Jr. No wonder he leaves his fights with not a single scratch on his face. Maybe Pac can change that or maybe not.

If there was a such thing as a "bigger version of Pac" then that hypothetical fighter would probably be top 10 ATG. Pac is what he is because of his size. He has ridiculous power for his size, which is why he was succesful at his lower weight classes, his speed was around the same as his opposition, but his power was always greater for the most part.. Now that he's moving up, he will be fighting "slower" guys with more power.. For there to be a "bigger Pac" then thats almost impossible..
Pac is moving up to fight Floyd, but Floyd has had the most trouble with smaller faster guys, not bigger heavy fisted guys.. So i would agree with Rozzy in saying that Pac poses more of a threat than Cotto. I think Floyd could slick his way through a Cotto fight and stay on the outside. Pac is faster than Cotto with plenty of power which in my opinion is more dangerous.
I'm going to have to watch PBF/Castillo and PBF/Judah again to really get some good insight on this potential matchup....

That sounds like something Larry Merchant would come out with.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
Pac's currently riding a wave of success similar to Trinidad when he moved up in weight and rolled through David Reid and William Joppy, and because of those devastating wins his fanbase thought he would just as easily steamroll a world class technician like Bernard Hopkins. Just the same, the Pac Man train is going to come to a dead halt when he shockingly finds himself in the ring with a fighter who will intellectually walk circles around him. This won't even be Floyd's toughest fight.

First, I'm not sure that is true. When has Floyd fought a bigger, heavier fisted guy? Aside from Oscar. Not being rhetorical. Second, let's assume that Floyd has more trouble with smaller, faster guys than bigger, stronger guys. But, how about a bigger, faster guy? Because that is exactly what Floyd is to Pac.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
We will have to wait and see how Floyd handles Marquez having had time away from the game, but if Manny fights as well as he did against Hatton,he will destroy a ring rusty PBF!!

That is just ridiculous! You write that like Floyd Jr. is the Albert Einstein of boxing. The boy looks good when he boxes, it doesn't make him a genius. I see people write and talk about how Pac "looks" amateurish. The fact is a punch doesn't have to "look good" to be "effective" or even have "skill" behind it. If Pac hits Floyd Jr. with the same punch he hit Hatton, the fight would over. Even if Floyd has the ability to figure out Pac by the 4th round he still has to make it to the 4th round.

i'd guess he's talking about you..
and i hate Pacquiao because of you too.. as well as a number of posters on here..
We've already gone over the whole, "you do a terrible job of representing your fighter and actually make it harder for other people to like your fighter because of your ridiculousness" in other threads.. you're a fan-boy, it's disgusting, but i'm used to it.. but don't even try to defend it.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao who wins?
Pac will destroy Mayweather's shoulder if PBF uses his famous shoulder roll in the fight. Nah, i really hope so. All I can say is that PBF may be the hardest opponent Pac will ever face, 2nd to JMM. The same goes for PBF. I can't say PAC will lose, people have been saying that everytime Pac fights. and then he porved them wrong. http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...cons/icon7.gif

It's not just me, PBF agrees that Pacman is just too small: Pacquiao too small for me, says 'P4P king' Lil Floyd. All things being equal, a good big man beats a good small man.
