PAC weigh-in at 142 for the Hoya fight and weigh 148 on fight night...
Cotto weigh-in at 146 in his last fight against Clottey and probably weighs 160 on fight night...
Mosley weigh-in at 147 in his last fight against Margcheat and probably weighs 160 on fight night...
Do you want PAC to give away at least 12 lbs to those guys on fight night by accepting a 147 fight? If they want a fight at 147, why don't they just call out a big 147 guy instead of calling out PAC... Paul Williams is ready to fight them at 147...
.
Set to fight to be at the 147 weight as in the past same day weigh in.. You do not get the jest of peoples opposition to catch weights.

At the end of the day no-one "makes" anybody sign a contract. If they are not comfortable with the details they shouldn't sign the contract.

I'd love to sit you in front of a multi-million dollar contract just to see you NOT sign it because you were uncomfortable with it's terms.
Re: What do you think of Catch weights?
I'm sure most boxers won't mind being weight drain if they can get set for life for fighting the biggest draw in the sport which means a minimum of 10 millon or so. Or guys jumping 1 or 2 weight classes when it's a danger to them. That's how it works.
Sugar Shane jumping 2 divisions to fight Oscar back in 2000. Mayweather jumping to 154 to fight Oscar even though he was outweighted by like 14 or 15 pounds on fight night. And Manny the current face of boxing jump 2 weight classes to fight Oscar.
Now it's Manny to set the unequal conditions on the fights. He learned it from Oscar an Oscar learned it from Ray Leonard.

It's a fair comment but it's very rare a world class fighter will take a fight expecting to lose.

True I see no point in a world class guy going into a fight with a losing mentality.

This is what I'm telling here all about... No one will force a boxer to sign a contract... A boxer will sign a contract if he believes he can win the fight... He's a fool and not a world class boxer if he signed a contract and expecting to lose...;)
Re: What do you think of Catch weights?
catchweights are cowardly.
