Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
I read recently that Rafa's reasoning behind Keane not working out was because of the Reds not signing Barry . That doesn't make much sense to me especially considering we bought Keane and he barely saw the pitch and we had a very capable side. Also let's not forget RAFA got Alonso pissed off and sold away because RAFA didn't want him on the team, RAFA wanted Barry and that hasn't really been mentioned that much.
Here's what happens next either Bob Kraft (owner of the New England Patriots) buys majority stake of the team and frees up some money for Rafa or the ownership stays segmented as it is and either Rafa stays or leaves and we have to rebuild the entire team because it seems like Reina and Torres would leave if Rafa left.
This has been a rough season, lots of injuries, lots of poor play and Rafa isn't without blame he's put out some sorry ass sides vs some decent and even very good competition.

Yes, we may not have battered them, but we won. Looks like Chelsea are battering Arsenal.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Quality result, I'll take it. I have a couple questions for, well for anyone who cares to answer them.
#1 What we can expect once we have a full season of service from Aquilani? If we don't have injury problems that we have had this year with Torres et al
#2 Who do we need to sign (either specific players or what just general positions do we need an upgrade at) to contend for the EPL title and the Champions League?

Aquilani should play with Mascherano, Lucas either side of him and Kyut right Gerrard left (5 man midfield) and Torres up front.
We are a long way off winning the league, get rid of Babbel, Vorinin, etc and replace them with quality, but keep them this season as we are too weak.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
5 man midfield....unacceptable! It makes it too crowded to move the ball through the midfield successfully. Torres is good enough to play alone up top but if he's hurt what happens??? NGog? NGog actually has shown some skill this season but still it's just not a system Liverpool will have success with mainly because guys like Aurelio and Johnson like to move up the field and are successful doing that, having 7 guys crowded in the midfield will just be a clusterfuck. Also if we're only playing 1 striker we won't need to spend any money on another striker, it just makes no sense
Here's what I think we need: #1 a solid starting striker that compliments Torres #2 Aquilani to play on a side and not in the middle #3 Maybe a top teir CB because Carragher's form has slipped a bit.
ST: Torres, (someone good)
CAM: Gerrard
LM/RM: Beyanoun, Aquilani
CDM: Mascherano
LB: Aurelio CB: Carragher, Skrtel RB: Johnson
GK: Riena
If all else fails use Kuyt up top with Torres but we just can't allow Gerrard to play striker and we can't have 5 guys in the midfield. With Johnson and Aurelio moving up to help with attack Aquilani can go more to the center of the pitch if he does better there....that's just my view of the situation.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Anyone else getting pissed off with the refs this year?? They have been fucking shocking this season everyweek there seems to be major decisions there getting wrong.
Anyone watch the Arsenal-Chelsea match wtf was the disallowed goal for??? Shocking decision that would of been 2-1 with 38 mins left, pissing me off bigtime!!

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Lyle and Master you need a decent striker if you have any money id get Carlton Cole he is now matured into a great striker playing amazing for West Ham and they are struggling, him and Torres would be nice partnership.
-
Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
I agree, but hell it's hard to find someone to pair with Torres. Keane did horrible(when he got the chances), David Villa totally negated anything Torres could do when they played with Spain...so far I think Peter Crouch was the best pairing with Torres maybe Kuyt but he's had some rough moments too.

You are having a laugh, they want £20 million for the donkey. :) You have him for Utd. I would rather buy Henry or even Nistelrooy.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Lyle Rafa loves being defensive, 5 man midfield is his best option with a fit Gerrard supporting Torres. That is his nature. If Klinsmann came in as manager it would be the reverse, all out attack.
-
Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
I would like Klinnsman for Liverpool and for the US National side! Although both are unlikely.
Why be defensive with Gerrard and Torres?!?!?! What a waste!

There partnership has worked well, Torres prefers it and Gerrard is difficult to mark running from all over. Add Kyut and a Benyamin, the defensive option looks a good attacking option.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Yes, but if you're starting Aquilani, Mascherano, and Lucas then where does Benayoun fit in on the pitch?

Carlton Cole donkey?? Sorry mate you couldnt be more wrong great player showed his class for Engladn against Holland talking of donkeys lets hope Capello doesnt take the original Donkey Emile Heskey ahead of him to the world cup.
Id have him at United the problem is we have three decent strikers you have one, I dont think you can be calling anyone donkeys when your backup is Ngog and Voronin ;D.

True. :(

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Henry would be a great fit for Liverpool, Heskey might not be so bad (as a backup), but I think Cole might fit in well.
I see-saw back and forth on what should the club do with Rafa but right now I'm of the opinion he should be sacked and quickly. He's done nothing but tinker this season and last and if that's the way it's going to be then he needs to go, we've had NO consistency....granted if he is sacked we may lose Torres and maybe some others (which wouldn't have been a problem had we kept Keane), but he's got to go! If 1 player gets hurt Liverpool lines up with a totally different side and that shouldn't happen we should have 1 maybe 2 formations and players that fit roles for both formations...with Rafa if 1 regular starter is off then you might see a formation they have never played in ever before.
We should have a 442 played with LM, CM, CM, RM or LM, CAM, CDM, RM and that should basically be enough but with Rafa we may as well be playing free form

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
Can't believe i was tipping Liverpool and Arsenal for a 1-2 finish before the start of this season.

Carlton Cole is class. Probably most improved player in the Prem.

No mate that honour would go to Darren Bent.

I have to disagree there mate, Bent has always been a great goalscorer he had the best strike rate of any of the strikers at Spurs and was bought by Spurs for 15 million when he was on fire for Charlton and prior to that Ipswich, Bent hasnt improved that much if you ask me.
Cole is a good shout by ono, he was touted as a great player whrn breaking through at Chelsea didnt make the greade was loaned out to numerous clubs including Villa and Charlton and again didnt really do much, now he is finally showing what a class act he was as a kid and for me I think along with Flectcher at United is the most improved player in the league.

Re: Lyle whats going on with your so called mighty reds??
I am worried big time for Liverpool in the middle range, at the moment, I feel like it's not another striker they need but a good middle recuperating and some chemistry, feed your attack and they will produce, once you have a good player like that, then you can think about a good complementary striker.
