Re: Chavez Jr. vs. Manfredo Jr chat/fight thread + the Pac-JMM III replay tonight on
Chavez Jr. is a huge middleweight. Honestly, he would be a good size super middleweight. They said he weighed close to 185 for fight night. That's wild.
Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee might be a scrap?

I think Jr. would hammer Lee.

I say if that was Sakio Bika in there last night instead of Manfredo then Chavez wouldn't have made it past the 4th round.
Anyone agree ?

I don't understand how it was a bad stoppage?? He was stunned, legs all over the place and was hit about 30-40 times against the roaps without answer!!
He wasn't badly hurt and Chavez missed all but a couple of punches. Manfredo was in the process of clinching when Cole waived it off. He might have gotten stopped, but he deserved the chance to continue.

It looked to me as though he clinched after the ref got in between?? Towards the end of the barrage he almost sunk through the ropes he looked done to me. He should have thrown one or two back if he wanted to to avoid being stopped.
Yeah, maybe I'm just being sentimental because I feel bad for the guy, but I thought it could have been let go for a bit longer. He likely would've been stopped anyways, but I just thought it was quick.

No, it's not just you. I agree that the stoppage was quick. Max Kellerman thought so too (though Lederman, Pappa, and Roy Jones all disagreed). Manfredo didn't do himself any favors by not hanging on to JCC Jr., but seriously, almost none of those shots on the ropes landed.

Andy Lee, Darren Barker, Craig McEewan, Peter Quillin. He should be reaching for that level next. I actually may agree with you about Lee.

The only way Bika beats Chavez Jr is by distracting him with pictures of his monstrosity of a wife.

If Canelo-Chavez gets made at CW, im starting to think that Chavez could beat him... and it's not because i think highly of him either.. People can shit on Chavez all they want but the dude has a legit chin, dude knows how to take a punch. Canelo's chin is questionable..
He dam near looked like a light heavyweight compared to Manfredo and it seems like he wont stop growing.. Boy is huge. With that kind of size advantage and chin, i can see him imposing his size on Canelo in route to victory...

I am beginning to sort of, well, I guess, the right phrase, is not hate on Chavez Jr. too much. He didn't have much of an amateur career. He is still relatively young and inexperienced. He can easily be outboxed but he is a very big middleweight and he can make for fun viewing. I bet a fight with him and Darren Barker or Andy Lee is a fun fight to watch.

I think Jr. would walk through Lee and McEwan. Barker would be interesting because of his style. A fight with Quillin could be a foty candidate.

Bika's wife does resemble Jabba the Hutt, but aside from that Bika is a world class contender and a HUGE puncher.
Chavez Jr. would get hammered I think.
When Manfredo Jr. is your biggest win, thats not saying a lot.
Although, I felt Manfredo would do a lot better, I was dead wrong.

That's how I saw that fight too, but since then he's been missing in action.
