Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Aydin is getting outworked, and isn't busy enough, he's just loading up for a knockout punch, which doesn't look likely to come.
RG looking dead tired at the end of round 10.

I think it's coming.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Baaad end of 10th for Robert. He was sucked inside and Aydin needs to go uppercut crazy
inside its wiffle ball bat vs 2x4
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
One more round, the 12th, if RG finishes standing he should be the new WW Champion.

Really? I think he's been outboxing Aydin for most of the night. Looks like it's about to go off the rails for him though.
Dont agree. He's throwing lots but not landing. Aydins right has not missed the entire fight from no matter where he throws it from or where it was intended. I dont see this being all that close to be honest.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Another good fight tonight. Gotta love it.
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Gonna be close, but I think Guerrero jabbed and slapped his way to a victory. All Aydin had to do was match his work-rate, but Guerrero threw a million punches.
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Robert has two Cali judges so who knows along with Al as his head cheer leader. Clear win for Aydin imo but I think he may get burnt.
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Good finish for Guerrero. Aydin may be kicking his ass the hardest tonight wishing he brought the intesity early on. Good fight!
Random dig: Credit to Guerrero for making his two division "rise" official and against an actual live foe, no training... my ass

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
All things considered, moving up 2 weight classes and a 15 month layoff, it's a good win for Guerrero over a tough opponent.
UD for Guerrero..

Let's not create a robbery where there isn't one, we have enough real robberies in the sport we don't need to imagine any.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Mayweather would toy with Guerrero.
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Aydin looks like he's pissed and thought he won the fight... haha
-
Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
right fighter won.
I was rooting for Aydin but scored it 7-5 for RG.
Aydin didn't throw enough punches in many of the rounds. another 10-12 punches with 3 more right hands landed and it could have changed a couple of close rounds.

I like guererro but seriously what's with every dude nowdays winning one fight and calling out pbf...let's hold slow down howw about beating another good one or two opponents and then making a real claim to fight pbf not just one based in money

Agreed. This was a clear win for Guerrero though he had some troubled moments, and Aydin had opportunities to take him out. But no way Aydin out-pointed Robert tonight.

I didnt see it that way so its not clear at all. I saw it the other way around and I'm no Aydin fan.

I call it the right man winning, if a tad bit wide on that particular card

Fair enough. I don't.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Props to Aydin for owning it..."I don't blame the judges, it was me" according to interpetor. He waited way to long
Note to twinkie eating slacker Broner...Thats how you jump weight classes :p
Guerrero....leave Mayweather alone son, you dont want that

Who doesn't want to fight Floyd, that's where the money is, the thing is, Floyd has far bigger fish to fry, and this fight wouldn't be competitive.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
I thought Guerrero even though I liked him in his former habitat. He really bit off more than he could chew but he did a great job of out boxing Aydin but Aydin was frustrated and got hit even when he went inside. I thought he had good stamina but he was also the bigger man. He may have hit harder but he couldn't really catch Mr. G. All in all an exciting fight, a real nail biter. The score was a tad bit wide but he won.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
You don’t get points for activity in a 10 point must system. When I say activity I mean punches thrown. If you throw a 4 or 5 punch combination and only land one punch then that’s what you are credited for. On the other hand Aydins body work was unreal and he could have thrown his right hand from the parking lot and it would have connected. I know what I saw.
Now normally I don’t listen to the commentary during the fight but have made exception in the past when Al’s on. Tonight however was the last of such exception. Someone should have informed Aydin that it was an 8 round fight.
As a gentleman if any of you would like to card up and watch this fight again I’d be happy to post my card with a rd x rd explanation and you the same.
Just say when.

For the life of me, I don't see how you could possibly score it for Aydin, much less as widely as you seem to have. 115-113 Guerrero is as close as I can get it giving Aydin every single close round. Even he admitted he lost the fight. And I don't know about "fan," but you were the guy picking Aydin and denying that Guerrero should be favored going in.
It was a tough fight for sure but was dramatic mostly because (a) Aydin can punch (though Guerro's chin looks great at 147) and (b) Guerrero completely gassed at around round 7 (but still won at least two of the following rounds).
All that said, clearly PBF would utterly destroy him. Wouldn't mind seeing him against Bradley. I'd pick him over Alexander for sure but I'd prefer never to see Alexander ever fight (i.e., hold non-stop) again.

No vested interest in either. I don't even like either. Thought it was actually comical when Al compared him to Vic from a historical perspective. I digress...
I think Aydin thumped him.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Guerrero boxed well, but Aydin was one paced and limited, it was a good fight for the ghost but at
welter, he will struggle he wants Floyd it's a good pay day for Guerrero.
It's a fight Floyd will win, Guerrero is a good guy and his story he comes across as a decent human being, For that you would want him to beat Floyd, in reality I can not see him beating Floyd, if you
go with your heart Guerrero, but this is boxing so you use your brain Floyd.:)

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Aydin said he had double vision from around the 4th round on, weird, how do you fight with double vision. :p
Aydin had his moments in the fight, and gave Guerrero all he could handle, hurting him several times to the head and body. The thing is Aydin just wasn't busy enough and/or didn't let his hands go enough to win more than 4 or 5 rounds at most.
I had Guerrero winning either by 115-113 or 116-112.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
I thought Guerrero fought well after a long layoff, and moving
up 2 weight divisions.

Indeed.
He was essentially anointed though with that feel good story and his wife and donor at ring side. I hate to be cynical but...

Give it up. No one else thinks Aydin won the fight, including Aydin and his team (per the interview).

Give what up? I really don't care if anyone on here thinks it. This is not the only boxing forum on the web. I was actually pulling for Robert because of his wife's issues and cant stand Aydin. That is irrelevant.
A homer ref
Two homer judges
A pre fight story
A commentator who essentially called Aydin a scrub the entire fight while he landed his right hand at will
If you think he won fine. I don't and don't even think it was close. Its not like the wrong guy has ever won a fight before and like I said if you want to put your card up and explain how you gave each what rounds I'll gladly indulge. Don't expect me to simply agree because the majority in this thread think he won.

I've got to agree with you a bit here Inuit, I hope in future fights Showtime downplays the wife's battles with cancer, it's a touching story, but enough is enough.

It's not just "the majority"; it's literally every single person on this thread besides you, every other forum I've checked, and every commentator I've read. Aydin himself said the judges were correct! This whole conspiracy theory/robbery characterization you've constructed and gone on and on about (despite "not caring") is just bizarre.

You know Mars... I'm not sure I trust these interpreters 100%. I know the Spanish ones sometimes screw up the fighters responses, and something different comes out in English. Which is unfortunate, because we should know what the fighter is really saying, rather than a crude, sometimes incorrect interpretation by the translator. In this case, Aydin actually pointed to his eyes, but I just wonder if he really said he was seeing double from the 4th round on.

Re: Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin Saturday night fight/chat thread
Thsat was a pretty good bout, had it The Ghost 116-112 though I could see an argument for a 115-113. Lot of action, thrown punches, the way I love it!

Just from looking at Aydin's body language and the tone of his voice, he looked to be a bit pissed/upset during the post fight interview, about the decision not going his way. Maybe it was just disappointment.
Aydin is a tough SOB, I wouldn't mind seeing him again.
