Re: Kessler Challenges Pavlik
Wow, this fight completely went under the radar for me. I didn't even consider it until this thread...It's an awesome prospect. Hope it happens. No idea who would come out on top. Two solid guys who don't fuck around

I cringe when I see Mundine's name in amongst these when discussing this division,,, as I know he will never fight anyone worth mentioned at 168, or any other division for that matter...
It's like still mentioning Floyd when listing out the strengths of the WW division.
No fault of yours my man Hammer... You know who I blame.. :)
Mundine cannot be mentioned but Froch and Inkin can?
Mundine has fought Kessler, Ottke, Siaca, Soliman and Green at 168. Are they not names worth mentioning at 168?
Who has Froch fought, or Inkin for that matter? No one nearly as good as those just mentioned.
Sure Mundine has taken easy defences lately but u cannot deny he has fought some top guys at 168, and its only Kessler of the top guys that ever calls him out.
Froch's best opponents are Robin PORNSTAR Reid and Tatesyovan both not ranked on the top 40 in the world.
I know i'll probably get negative comments from the Mundine haters, but as i've said before dont let his out of ring antics (which i hate) cloud your judgement of his ability. To say he shouldnt be mentioned in the top guys at 168 but Froch and Inkin should is ridiculous, Mundine has done much more then both these guys. Bute fights nobodies and washed up fighters but does not get half the criticism Mundine does.
LOL, you can take Inkin and Froch out as well that's fine... ;D
You know what, i'm with you on Mundine's skills... A lot of people underrate him, and most of the time he is summed up by his loss to Kessler.. He has improved hugely since then...
My critisizm comes purely from the fact that he has fought Soliman 3 times, while there is a whole division of good fighters that he should be actively chasing.. Any fighter on the planet that has his talent, but continues to fight B class fighters over and over will earn no respect from me.... It could be a case of bad timing, bad management, whatever.. But how many years does a fighter stay in his prime?? Him and his camp have to start making things happen...
Until he's on a plane over to the US to fight some of these names, I refuse to mention him alongside them...
That's where i'm speaking from...
Anyway i'm repping ya because you made good points that I only want to add to... I just have a personal beef with Mundine also as he's Australia's number 1 prospect, and I so want to get behind him, but he doesn't give his fans, or any Australians anything to work with....

Someone mentioned a fight between them a couple of months ago and it was an immediate winner for me also...
In fact, someone actually dug up that original thread, and I saw that I had actually tipped Kessler to come out on top of this... But recently I have felt Pavlik would have the upper hand...
I've been watching more of Pavlik recently though, so i'll have to go back and watch a few Kessler fights again, and really weigh it up before prediction time.. If this fight even happens...

How do there C.J. Rock?!?!?
Nice to meetcha.
That being said...what makes you say that the jury is still out on Kessler? Don't think that I am being combative with my post...because I'm not...I just don't agree & am wondering what makes you say such.
Kessler is an accomplished fighter. Hellacious am career & he's pretty much drubbed out everyone that he's fought outside of Calzaghe.
Kessler is highly underratted & is an amazing fighter. If you watch him in with Mundine, Green, Siaca, & even Calzaghe he was on the mark & fundamentally sound in each & everyway.
With Calzaghe...it's just the awkwardness & volume.
If you watch Kess's early bouts to his latest...he's a hell of a champion.
I do begrudge him for the layoff/challenges that he's bowed out of...but I suppose when you are as high strung as Kessler & was so confident as he was against Joe...he's feeling a bit low with himself.
He needs to saddle up & ride again...because the kid generates excitement...& asses in seats.
Anywho...let's hash this out.
Just curious as to your thoughts.

I agree with this totally.
In the first five rounds of the Calzaghe fight it was almost if not totally even.
Name anyone that can hang with Calzaghe's volume... Kess in no way got beat up... just beat... and by a great champion.
The jury is IN.
Can't wait for his return. He is the future of the SMW div.

Yep. Their bout was neck in neck there for me...but once Joe settled in & figured out Kess's routine & that he could handle the power...it was done.
Kessler is still a force to be reckoned with & IWHO...he'll be the new king of the throne...if he can get his head back in the game.
Good points.

Nice to see ya again, Wack... Been a while! Have some rep.
Re: Kessler Challenges Pavlik
If this fight happens I am going with Pavlik in 8.Very dumb fight for Kessler I believe. He hasn't had any fight's since his loss.So ring rust is on his size,he doesn't throw as many punches as Pavlik nor as hard, and I believe he is exactly what B-Hop says he is a straight up 1-2 European guy.His head is always there to be found he has gotten by from his power and he would need to add more head movement rather than stand up to Pavlik. All and all he has no chance in this fight and he will be beaten badly.
Re: Kessler Challenges Pavlik
Here’s how I suspect it will go:
Kessler will challenge Pavlik
Pavlik will accept
Kessler will then create a list of 25 demands that Pavlik must agree to for the fight to come off
Pavlik will agree
Kessler will then withdraw form the fight without telling the TV networks and take another fight against a nobody for IBC international regular title, and claim that he is more interested in collecting titles then fighting Pavlik.

dejavu;D
Re: Kessler Challenges Pavlik
If this fight does happen without Kessler rejecting at the last minute. And Pavlik totaly beats his ass like Miranda, do you think Calzaghe will fight or flight? I say he flights.

Calzaghe's work rate didn't change the fight around it was his jab, countering, boxing on the outside. As soon as Calzaghe found the range with his jab it was all Calzaghe and he was a clear cut winner by at least 3 or 4 rounds, and you said how many fighters could deal with Calzaghe's work rate ?? are we talking past/present ??

Kessler is fighting this saturday.
Re: Kessler Challenges Pavlik
Kelly in a max 9 round fight. I like Kesslers style but Kelly will be able to back him up all night.
