This one is a true toss-up for me. They're both studly guys who can do more than throw power shots. I think we got to see the other side of Kessler's game against Andrade. He was able to rely on something other than power shots to get a W and he may be able to do that against Pavlik. Pavlik's chin is phenomenal, even though his defense isn't necessarily, but he seems the type to take risks when he sees openings. Taylor hurt him because he was trying to be cute, not because of a flaw in his defense. And Miranda flat-out had nothing that could stop him. Flip a coin for me; that's as good as I can guess.
    Oops

This is a ight that will have fans salivating either side of the Atlantic and one which will be difficult to schedule a venue for giving that Kessler has not previously fought outside of Europe.

    Bring it on.
I believe he fought Mundine in Sydney

Pavlik has a lot to gain. If he fights and KOs the slow moving Kessler. He can demand Joe fight him and Joe's fans will demand it also. Kessler will give him a good fight though, but I think Kelly hits him with everything but the kitchen sink.

    I agree it's a toss up.

I admire Kessler stepping up and calling out Pavlik, not many are lining up to fight him atm.

I agree that Pavlik has got a few more outs....the power, work rate, and will be pressuring Kessler all night. Kess likes to set the distance and Pavlik will be invading it all night long.

I'd love to see this fight materialize. I'm a fan of Kessler and don't like Pavlik. The two would make a great match up.
Tell me....Why do you not like Pavlik? He is what all boxers should be. Both as a person and a sportsman.

plenty of similar contests at 168.

Bute and miranda are also both essentially knockout punchers.

Add froch, mundine, taylor, abraham, inkin etc and you actually have yourself a very strong division!!

I think kessler is the better boxer

    Correct.

I guess what I meant to say, was would now prefer not to.

I previously gave him credit for travelling to beat up Mundine.

And, for the sake of accuracy, he has actually fought in Vegas as well. On the undercard of stablemate Johnny Bredahl's fight against Paulia Ayala back in 2000. With none less than Jay Nady as ref btw.

I cringe when I see Mundine's name in amongst these when discussing this division,,, as I know he will never fight anyone worth mentioned at 168, or any other division for that matter...
It's like still mentioning Floyd when listing out the strengths of the WW division.

Thats true but Id say the best of the bunch is Kess - Pav .

Kess was beaten on experience vs Joe. Thats all. We dont know if Pav would have doen any better . This is a real fight and it would say alot about Pav if he accepted the challenge. He was chasing Joe but didnt realise he was open to challenges. Now the hunter has become the hunted . GO KESSLER !

    power-Pavlik
    conditioning- Pavlik
    work rate- Pavlik
defense- ? Pavlik has very much improved since Miranda.
    ring control- Pavlik
    heart- Pavlik

I see Kessler wanting to stand in and trade and getting stopped in the process. I feel Kessler should fight Pantera first. If he can get by that monster( I dont think he can) then he should go after Pavlik. Kessler is coming off a lose. Pavlik is tearing it up. To me it seems more risky for Kessler in this fight.

Mundine cannot be mentioned but Froch and Inkin can?
Mundine has fought Kessler, Ottke, Siaca, Soliman and Green at 168. Are they not names worth mentioning at 168?
Who has Froch fought, or Inkin for that matter? No one nearly as good as those just mentioned.

Sure Mundine has taken easy defences lately but u cannot deny he has fought some top guys at 168, and its only Kessler of the top guys that ever calls him out.
Froch's best opponents are Robin PORNSTAR Reid and Tatesyovan both not ranked on the top 40 in the world.

I know i'll probably get negative comments from the Mundine haters, but as i've said before dont let his out of ring antics (which i hate) cloud your judgement of his ability. To say he shouldnt be mentioned in the top guys at 168 but Froch and Inkin should is ridiculous, Mundine has done much more then both these guys. Bute fights nobodies and washed up fighters but does not get half the criticism Mundine does.
