But when he fights a proper top level lightweight he's going to outspeed and outpoint them but will inevitably get sparked at some point in the twelve rounds. If it wasn't for his mandible he could be a world beater. He's extended the big payday portion of his career for a few fights with that performance though. Maybe he can get through a couple of world title fights without somebody managing to land on his chin but I doubt it.
There was barely a couple minues of boxing so we cant call that domination . I dont think Barrera landed a decent shot on Khan cuz he was blinded but at the end of the fight Khan looked like he had been in a scrap . Imagine if Barrera was able to see where he was landing his punches and Khan couldnt see em coming cuz he was blinded. It would be a totally different fight .
And Barrera was not being dominated prior to the cut anyway. He started as most people would have expected, he was cautious and finding his range. Most of Khans blows were landing on the guard or else Barrera was slipping them.
After the head clash it changed completely, and the clash was the cause of it. Khan would have had a MUCH rougher ride without that break. Bring on a rematch I say, because I'm just not sold at all.
Damn it Miles, stop being such a damn fanboy and making excuses. Clearly that defence was because Barrera was hanging on for dear life because of Khans blistering speed. That or he was about to pass out from blood loss...not sure which?

Barrera landed one clean left hook at the end of round three and that was the one thing Barrera was counting on to be able to score a knock down or knock out with the left hook like like Prescott did. Barrera landed maybe 3 nice shots in the entire fight but catching the running rabbit was hard for the old man and Con's hand speed and foot work were the difference in this fight. I am still not impressed with Con and all I can say to his win against Barrera is.... Breidis Prescott :lickish:

I know I can't help it. ;D
To be fair, my only argument is the cut. I have never said that Barrera is old, shot and washed up. I don't believe any of that.
It all rests with what happened in that first round and the clash of heads. It cocked up everything, and not just for Barrera. It also meant Khan's "win" was marred too. Spoiled a fight that we all thought would be exciting, either as a Khan or Barrera fan. I can't see how anyone is satisfied by that. It's a let down for everyone, surely.
Is Khan sitting at home thinking "I kicked Barrera's arse!". I bloody well hope not! Because he didn't quite do that, did he now?
But, yeah, he got the "all important" win...

You don't think MAB is old, shot or washed up? Come on...
You must have known something was up when the fight was announced?
Re: All Khan proved is....
Agree with you on the cut situation Miles, it really was a lose lose situation for both fighters after that. Khan will never get full credit for the win, because lets face it that cut did seriously hamer Barrera and it was too early to tell if Khan would have kept up the form he showed in te first.
For Barrera well things just didnt go his way and its time for the legend to retire with dignity and a fantastic legacy which this loss will do very little to diminish. he should of stayed retired, dont want to see him carry on cus if he does with the form he showed hes never gonna win a lightwrght title unfortunately

Hahaha! ;D
We all know Barrera is getting on but he held his own with JMM and less so with Pac prior to retirement, and came back looking alright against a couple of bums. There was nothing to suggest he was shot, past his best, yes, but not shot. Even now I don't think he is washed up, he was dealt a harsh card in this fight, that was all.

This will cheer you both up. Khan's thoughts...
Khan said: "It seemed like I didn't really get out of second gear. I used my brains and boxed him, it seemed so easy. I took him apart, made him look ordinary.
"He was tired and frustrated, you could see it in his face. He didn't want to be in there after three or four rounds. I hurt him a couple of times and won every round.
"If he had stayed in the fight another two or three rounds he would have got knocked out, brutally."

Re: All Khan proved is....
Quotes like that is the reason why people want to see Khan suffer pain and death.
"i would have knocked him out brutally! Yeah right Barreras never been knocked out brutally so what chance has a chinny bum got.
why couldnt he just kept quiet instead of mouthing off
Re: All Khan proved is....
Wnen khan lost everyone gave him shit and it didn't matter why it was he lost....same should go for when he wins, and again it shouldn't matter. The kid is a prospect not a world class fighter and at this point no matter how khan and his people try and convince otherwise that's all he is. And with that khan did his job. A win is always better than a loss. And now all of the sudden barrera was old and shot etc blah blah, i don't necessarily like khan but that isnt' fair. Dont tell me people spent weeks building this up, all these people bought tix and ppv's all cause they wanted to see and old shot fighter they knew was going to loose. It was good enough for everyone to be interested in before the fight so don't totally discredit the guy afterward, or why are we even talking about the fight in the first place. Congrats khan and hell everyone else that won this weekend, you did your job.

I watched it again and thought Khan landed some good punches before the cut. If Khan had the cut instead I think the ref would have stopped it before Barrera knocked him out. If Barrera hadn't been cut he would have been dangerous for the whole twelve rounds. He might have lost every round but KO'd Khan in the twelfth. And he's a short, slowing, old guy whose best days were fighting at a stone lighter than he was on Saturday. Put Khan in against somebody who can punch the weight and he's going to get tagged at some point no matter how fast he is and how careful he is.
I'm watching the fight again and you could hear a pin drop in the thired, fourth rounds at some points. It seems like the arena was pro-MAB. Is that right, people who were there?

I was there and yes the crowd were pro Mab . When they announced Khan was the winner the crowd threw beer in disgust . When I watched it back hardly anything was made of the headbutt . Jim Watt and Ian were bumming Khan like biased Brits as if the cut had nothing to do with the result .

He'll get caught eventually when he gets in the ring with a proper lightweight and we can all laugh at him again. :)
