Wow..thats quite a disparity in scoring....Chavez has struck me as a little too willing to swap shot's and ignore natural frame?Thats not a bad thing but It might get costly

He is a good exciting fighter but I don't think he will ever be top level. He likes to trade too much. I would like to see him fight Mora though. It would be entertaining.

No way vanda won 6 rounds. There was also no way Chavez won all 10.
Right...

Re: JCC Jr. - Matt Vanda Thread
I had it 8 rounds to 2 for Chavez. If he can learn to pace himself better and learn some shoulder roles, he will be a threat.
He throws some damn nice inside punches.

Mora would whup Chavez imo he's just trading on his father's name nothing more.
Vanda is just a decent club fighter, even Anthony Bonsate had no problems with him.
Seriously the biggest fight of Chavez Jr's career will be against Alfonso Gomez and he will lose.

So you think he's going to be a world champ then VD?
In his last 3 or 4 fights he's pretty much stepped up to his maximum level of competition.
Him and Gomez would be a pick em fight imo and I'd favour Gomez to come on late and stop him.
He's nothing special at all.
Duddy would murder him. I honestly can't see him beating anybody at light middle, Ouma, Julio, K9 Bundrage, Ishe Smith, Sechew Powell, the guy that beat Sechew Powell, I can't see him beating any of those guys.
Cosme Riveria would knock him out.
The only fights I can see him winning against name fighters are Yory Boy Campas (who would have destroyed him in his prime) and maybe that Jose Riveria guy, which would be a pick em fight imo.

Re: JCC Jr. - Matt Vanda Thread
Split decision against the mighty Matt Vanda?!? No... that won't do. Time to go back to the 0-15 fighters, Jr. (and Sr.)
Wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize that carefully constructed 37-0 record, now would we.
;)
-
Re: JCC Jr. - Matt Vanda Thread
In all fairness, it wasn't a split decision. Well it was but that was a ridiculous score. I thought Chavez lost 1, 2 rounds at most. And he did look impressive for about 7 of those but then gassed big time.
-
No one is talking about the Chavez Jr fight?
I was sure Chavez Jr. would stop Panda in three, then I thought in five ;D as the fight wore on, it became more intense, Chavez looked gassed in the later rounds and he was taking a lot of clean shots but so was Panda ;D All things considered, it was a pretty good scrap in a strange kind of way. Near the end, it looked as if these guy were heavy weights nearing the 13th thru 15th rounds. After the final bell, Chavez Jr., was so spent, it took him nearly 10 minutes to get up off the stool ;D I thought they were going to perform CPR on him, it took about 15 minutes to annouce the scores :o never a good sign.
Here are the scores after ten rounds:
They were announced in the following order.
97-93 Chavez
95-96 Vanda :)
100-90 Chavez
When that final score of 100 - 90 was read, you could hear the booing and it got louder, then people began throwing things in the ring. Chavez had about 50 people in his entourage, which was a good thing for him because they were able to shield Chavez from getting hit with anything from the stands ;D Even during the post fight interview, Chavez was sitting in his stool while having to be shielded by his entourage. Chavez was very dissapointed in himself and who can blame him ;D Chavez thinks the people were booing him, but that was not the case, they were booing the score of 100 - 90.
Chavez needs to stop pulling his pud and get into the gym with a conditioning coach. Chavez looked flabby with no definition, no tone, flat.
He said at the end of the fight that he has no idea what he is going to do, the kid sounded distraught :o
-
Re: No one is talking about the Chavez Jr fight?
man his had 38 fights already and his only 22 years old. His won 37 and drew 1. In this rate his going to brake the undefeated record by the time his 25 years old.
fuck that excuse he had no amature background so his fighting so often as a pro but against the weakest fcking competition.
I don't like him one bit, his making boxing look bad. Plus I dont' think his going to get that much better. Jcc sr did fight a lot of BUMS with his 100 plus wins but atleast he wasn't this protected. He fought against the best too, he got some gift decision but hey he still got good wins. His son suck right now for real. They need to slow down jr, and make him a better fighter. Not keep putting him in against weak oppenents then hope he gets better from it. They need to lock this kid up train his ass off and gets some tone in his body. He still look like he ain't gone through puberty.
Anways I highly doubt jcc jr will come close to being great, I dont' see no bright future for him protected or not.

Re: No one is talking about the Chavez Jr fight?
...not too much to talk about, before this fight even happened they were commited to not letting this guy loose, especially against this level of comp. It's frustrating cause sometimes a loss is exactly what a fighter needs, this kid isn't his father, let him make his own path. But i don't think they see it that way, They'd rather pad his record up to like 145-0, Just to be fair i don't know how much of what i'm saying is true and maybe they are just progressing him along gradually, but jesus is this guy ever going to fight where we can watch ?? I think this fuckers birth was probably on ppv. And that's my problem with it all, charging star prices for someone who's proven nothing. Can't blame him though, if people would pay to watch me post here and cry like i'm doin...i'd sure as fuck charge too lol !! Hell this last fight might have even been on regular t.v. i don't even check anymore.

He's headlined a ton of PPV's. Including like 5 of those Latin Furies. Really he's been on PPV forever because Chavez has such a loyal following that all his fans the only fights they will buy throughout the year are Chavez and De La Hoya fights.

Round 11 was all Glen he was the agressor and he landed the more meaningful punches in that round.

You can't seriously believe that?
I honestly wouldn't pick Chavez over any of those guys in a 12 round fight. I'm not even exaggerating here Mora is far too slick, Duddy to strong, K9 too awkward, Julio too powerful, Powell too slick and too powerful, Ishe far too slick, Ouma, even faded he still has far too much pedigree for Chavez.
Gomez would be close but I'd favour Gomez as he's clearly mixed in better company.
As for the top guys in the division, Santos, Alcine, Spinks, Phillips, Forrest, Karmazin he'd have not a hope in hell.
I think you could argue a serious case for at least 20 fighters in the junior middleweight division who Chavez wouldn't be able to beat.
They will keep feeding him stiffs for the next couple years at least.
-
Re: JCC Jr. - Matt Vanda Thread
I have to agree with Bilbo here against my fellow Calzaghe fan Demise. Chavez is nothing special at all. 36 fights and he's still fighting guys like Vanda tells the whole story here. He's also really tight at the weight too apparently, certainly looked that way at the end of the fight. Unless he gets handed a belt and defends it against Vanda-like fighters he'll never be a world champion and if he has to move up to 160 it'll get ugly for him.

You must of missed Duddy's fight against D class fighter Walid Smichet. His fight against Great Grandfather Yory Boy Campas. Duddy by all rights has 2 loses already. I agree Chavez would lose to Santos, Alcine, Spinks, Phillips and Karmazin. But those are top fighters. Something Duddy is not. Far from it. Chavez would brutalized Duddy.
