Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
So whats the point of replay? It is annoying how predictable boxing is.
-
Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Can someone who scored the fight for Martinez explain why? He did almost nothing after the 2nd round.
-
Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Murray landed the more effective/accurate shots, had the better defense. And also scored 2 knockdowns maybe im getting caught up in the moment, but i think this is one of the worst robberies in a big fight i've seen in years.

Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Saddo, can you allote me more room on my sig...maximum of 200 keys will not make it till years end :-X

Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
I had Martinez by a point or two. Should of been two knockdowns scored. Decent scrap.
Buncey is a unique character.

I thought he stole the 9th and 11th just on activity and Murrays inactivity. He didnt land anything effective and Martinez was at least busy.

I think I gave Martinez the 9th, but even in those rounds I thought that Murray was controlling the ring, showing better defence, and landing better punches. Martinez hit gloves all night and little else.

Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Murray says "He won fair and square"....cant fight for a man who wont fight for himself ???
Wow.

Im so disappointed i don't even feel like watching the other fight now, it was a great chance for the British fans to celebrate an amazing upset. For a fighter who went life and death in the prize fighter final, to go on and have amazing performance's against two long reigning champions an amazing story shame the ending wasn't so happy.

Wow.
He said he didn't do enough to win "in Argentina". I think he's looking to the future and not wanting to poison the water with HBO more than anything else.

Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Unles he goes to the defense school of bhop he will have to retire. His style doesn't make for a a long career once age takes its tole. Ask roy

Should have been two KDs. IMO

I understand not pissing where you like to eat, but if you feel you won you stand on it on that huge scale. I'm not sure Hbo will even remember his number next week

I agree, in a champs home country you need to destroy the champ to win

Why though? That logic is absurd and it not found in any other sport.

Martinez won the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 11th. So with the knockdown I had Murray by 3. It's a robbery to me because you can't really make a case for any other rounds for Martinez. Not to mention the extra knockdown Murray should have been given. I've pretty much had enough of this shit. It's a joke of a sport at times.

It's not? Never heard of home field advantage? And we know boxing is the worst offender

Yeah it's fucking ridiculous. No destryoying needed. Just win more rounds than your opponent. As Murray did. As far as I'm concerned when the first bell goes the title essentially becomes vacant.

That's like saying the visiting football team needs to win by more than a field goal or something like that. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Ok, if you saying it DOES happen, then I agree, if you are saying that it SHOULD happen, then that is what's absurd.
-
Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
With all due respect folks, it was a close fight. I'm seeing that many people scored the 12th for Murray, and yet Murray admitted he got tagged (suggesting he was a little buzzed) in the 12th. I had it 114-113 for Martinez, and could certainly see the fight for Murray, but this wasn't a robbery by any stretch.

Re: HBO: Martinez vs Murray, Arreola vs Stiverne.... Saturday night fight thread
Stiverne looks like he just climbed out of bed

Lol never said it should, just that it does. Just like in football and basketball. Refs giving calls to teams or certain players. Like Jordan.

Thats pretty much the size of it for me. Murray won, but he didnt win. It looked pretty straight forward to seal the deal, impose himself and his size and strength over the last 6 minutes but he couldnt. Martinez deserves some credit for that.
I also agree that Martinez landed next to nothing all night. Once the straight shots to the body stopped he was flicking at gloves all night.

Getting tagged once in 3 minutes does not win the round for the other guy,

It's going to be very difficult for Chris Arreola to bounce back and be a contender after this loss.

Murray & Stiverne are BOTH beasts!!!! Arreola is garbage. tough but not too skilled at all. Stivernes body shots were brutal. i wanna see him land on ole glass jaw wlad. he could too i bet! he can box.

I'd like to see him get one more good fight for work on his skills before wlad. Also he needs to step his blocking game up. He was looking real shifty and quick when he was avoiding punches. I'd like to see him kd wlad and see what happens

I agree, Murray was robbed. Martinez is slip sliding away and needs to do some thinking about his career.

Don't get too excited, Stiverne is good but don't throw him in with the big dogs yet. He needs a few more fights.
Arreola is finding the level he belongs at, and it's not at the top. I've never had high hopes for him, but he is tough as they come with good power and likes to mix it up so he is always entertaining.

Yeah, really though.
He beats a 42 year old Ray Austin and Chris Arreola, and now he's supposed to jump right in there with Wlad?
