Well I disagree with that, I do think Floyd Mayweather Jr has done himself and his legacy no favors at all with this fight....if he decided to fight Conor in the Octagon then fuckin more power to the guy, not saying he'd HAVE to grapple but to go on another fighter's turf and beat him is different than inviting him to your turf and beating him.
If Floyd believes he is the greatest of all-time then he'd be better served fighting GGG (win, lose, or draw) than Conor Mac fullstop!

I don't think he thinks it's a serious fight either. I don't think he gives a fuck about his legacy. It's about money.
He'd fight Britney Spears if the purse was big enough.
Me too! :oooh:

Wait, Manny is basically retired but holds a belt hostage while other champions want to unify. And you suggest a retired boxer and a non boxer fighting is what's wrong with boxing?
People have lost their damn minds. A retired boxer and non boxer don't effect what should matter in boxing. It's a spectacle. The actual sporting aspect is negatively effected by Pacquiao holding the belt hostage.
Next people will suggest Charlie Z is important to boxing, after all people watch his fights.

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
Hmm.... speaking of Charlie Z....
Shouldn't Deontay Wilder's professional boxing record be 39-0-0 (38 KO's)? After all, didn't he knock out the guy?
For that matter, maybe Mike Tyson should be credited with 51 wins, instead of 50. I'm pretty sure he beat Robin Givens. Wait, he also beat Mitch Green outside the ring...... make that 52.
But then if we go that route, Floyd himself could make a case for having another half dozen "W"s added to his record, if you count the women he's beaten.
Ironically, Jose Uzcategui, he of recent fame for getting DQ'ed after dropping Andre Dirrell after the bell...... should've picked up a DQ victory himself, after getting sucker-punched by Dirrell's cowardly POS uncle well after the fight.
Who knows how many more professional fighter records need to be revisited.............
Hell..... Amir Khan might even benefit from this recount, depending on whose account you believe. ;)

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
Titofan, do you realize you give significance to something completely meaningless?
In fact if you didn't count this fight(which is impossible since it is a sanctioned bout) Floyd would retire tied with Marciano for the record for most wins with no losses as a retired reigning champion.
After this fight Floyd will retire not as a reigning champion so Marciano will hold the record alone.

Never understood that either as he did retire undefeated 50-0-1 as a champion, the draw was technical on a cut. In fairness though he was a bit 'lucky' to have it scored a draw vs Alvarez. Paul Spadafora came close going 48-0-1 before losing.

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
Just watched Conor McGregor for the first time fighting some dude called Nate Diaz, I've never watch a UFC fight before (other than when Ronda Rousey got KO'd)
I'm at even more of a loss as to how this fight can be made, I thought that there was some modicum of boxing skills used in UFC but apparently there isn't, in the fight I have just watched for the majority of it they were standing and exchanging but there was nothing remotely like boxing involved, that Diaz dude left McGregor on queer street.
I thought that McGregor was some sort of undefeated UFC demigod.

Hey don't forget the night Foreman fought five guys ;D. Those were at least professional boxers of varying levels but bouts ruled exhibitions . How this is actually sanctioned ends with answer because it's Floyd and honestly think the record plays big role behind the scenes. Though we all know it's horseshat.
Amazing watching some of the mma fans going on lastnight..."hey Buster Douglas was a massive underdog also" and "well boxing is easier because you only train with your hands and not your legs or feet".....:lolhaha:

It appears that he did after looking on Wiki, if someone would have asked me who Nate Diaz was I would have said he was a rapper
I like this bit on Wiki
Quote:
McGregor is known mostly as a striker and prefers to fight standing up as opposed to on the ground. McGregor is left handed and primarily fights out of the Southpaw stance, but often switches to a conventional stance as well. He will frequently try to be the aggressor in his bouts.[149] McGregor's boxing is typically considered his best skill, with the majority of his victories coming by way of knockout or technical-knockout via punches.[150] Many pundits cite McGregor's pull-back left-handed counter as his most dangerous strike.[151][152][153]
lolz, Mayweather could be in trouble

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
The "billion dollar fight" between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has suffered a fresh setback as the proposed T-Mobile Arena venue may not be available for 26 August.
The two combat stars officially announced last Wednesday (14 June) that their big money boxing fight will finally take place.
While the venue was not confirmed, UFC president Dana White revealed that it would take place at the T-Mobile Arena in the fight capital of the world in Las Vegas.
However, the venue is now in doubt as the 20,000 capacity arena has been booked by rap star and actor Ice Cube for his BIG3 basketball league game on the same date as the fight.
According to TMZ, the rapper has no intention of rescheduling either as BIG3 are continuing to advertise and sell tickets.
Despite this, both camps remain confident that a compromise can be reached and that a venue will eventually be decided on, with the MGM Grand being the ideal alternative, where Mayweather has notably fought plenty of times.
The big money fight, handled by Showtime Sports, is expected to be the most lucrative in combat sports history, with both fighters expected to earn in excess of $100m (£78m).
And with ticket prices and pay-per-view costs expected to be significantly higher, the bout could also top Mayweather vs Pacquiao, and make $1bn (£0.78bn) in revenue.
"As with every Mayweather and McGregor fight part of the appeal is the spectacle and outsize personalities who are participating in it," Showtime Sports' Stephen Espinoza said, as quoted on The Independent.

HAHAHAHA!!!
Ice Cube won't give up T-Mobile Arena and his 3-on-3 basketball game to accommodate Floyd and McGregor. ;D ;D
Precious!! Good for the Cube!
I've got an alternate venue, though.

Not sure I'm taking the day off for triple G. I would actually like to watch manny despite his washed upness only because he's given me so much entertainment during the years but I've been very disappointed in manny since I found he is supporting duertes death squads. Ggg in sept definitely. I'm even betting on it which I rarely do. @Master

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
Someone mentioned Connor having a chance as his game is not grappling mma but the stand up and mentioned he has a chance. It's true Connor does everything he can to stand and fight and he is good but not 12 rounds against Floyd. If wins Connor which which I think is impossible but strange things do happen, I promise to change my avatar to "love the zog" or @Ron Swanson fan club

Perhaps better to work on your sense of humor than insult.
(If you don't see why that is a funny comment then I'm sorry I can't hold your hand. ;) )
Hell. There's a lot of ways that sentence could be interpreted so I will say. Yes, it could appear I am insulting as suggested. But it was me in fact being self depricating and acknowleding your point. But at the same time pointing out that my sarcasm is being judged insulting by someone who literally insulted me. So, yes. I acknowledge I can seem insulting. But that is not the intent. It's supposed to be understood I am having fun with those even if they directly insult me as an olive branch.
Perhaps I had too many long conversations with the late, great, Iaminuit and should learn to be more direct. If I in any way actually insulted you I apologize.

Yet to hear any boxing fan, boxing expert or boxer say it will be a fight. MMA fans and experts think Connor either has a chance or will destroy him.
Their rationale, Connor is much bigger(true), Connor was an amateur Irish National Champion boxer(who cares), Connor still trains in boxing(who cares), Connor has great movement(great for MMA, not for boxing) and Connor will be unpredictable he will box how no boxer ever has(these people seriously think boxers haven't figured out what's best to do in its 100s of years of existence and Connor will reinvent the game 😄)
-
Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
And I'm hearing all over Connor will make 100 million. Would Floyd allow that. He always cites his opponents as having their pay day but to me this 100 million thing sounds like bullshit, yet I'm hearing it again and again but usually from the mma fans.
I just can't see it. I also can't see Connor touching Floyd unless Floyd for some strange reason decided to go toe to toe which I don't see happening. I can hear Floyd after saying what a champion Connor was and how he put up a great fight after Connor spent the night chasing Floyd and taking those Floyd shots that suck the wind out of him. The outcome is not in doubt but I am really curious about Conor's cut.

The opening projections that are usually rather accurate suggested this fight would gross 606 million. If the initial projections are right then yes, he will get 100 million.

Because Floyd is looking at 200 million. If he fought GGG he gets 30 million. If he fights Connor he gets 200.(assuming it meets projections. It would be hilarious if it flopped). Connor gets money because he will help sell more than any other fighter. Floyd can let Connor sell it, which he is no longer interested in doing. And it's an easy fight. Exactly what a retired guy wants.
The entire marketing strategy is "what would happen if...." for as great as boxing is doing this year it isn't selling particularly well. So they sell something else. A curiosity. It really should be staged in Atlantic City for nostalgia.
It's hard to pin down exactly what the most Connor has made from a fight before is. I've seen as little as 3 million on one thing and as high as 16 million on another. But remember, the 100 for Connor, 200 for Floyd could be BS. The projections could be BS. Trying to convince everyone that everyone else is interested so others are interested. So far the boxing fans reject it. But boxing fans aren't the desired audience, they want the casuals and those that tune into events. MMA fans are eating it up.

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
And I guess the mma fans are understandably excited. They are very into it, at least the guys I know although they seem more interested in excitement not skill but hey that's what makes the world go round. It's strikes me as odd Floyd is letting an opponent get so much. A lot of his recent, for lack of a better word) opponents got under 10 million and thanked him. Who knows maybe this will hit expectations, I think I might be jealous hearing those figures thrown around

They've got dopey weight divisions in MMA. A featherweight is the equivalent of Welterweight and Middleweight is more like LHW.
In real terms, this fight has been made at 154 (LMW in Boxing), Macgregor is about that and he'll be bigger than Floyd.
But hey, it's a joke anyway, so fuck 'em all!

Re: Mayweather vs McGregor official
I think McGregor should get no criticism as he is the one taking all the chances whereas Floyd has loaded everything in his favour to the extent that Floyd looks like a complete pussy. Mayweather should be embarrassed by this fight, sure he will make loads of money, but he will be criticised for this fight for the rest of his life.

No connor must know it's gonna be a joke. He is a professional. He is just as guilty for this travesty but I can't blame the guy for going after a possible 100 million. I just wish Floyd was fighting a Crawford or anyone that would make me excited like the old days when I would stay home and pay for the fight and enjoyed the shit out of it like I felt I was on a vacation. Even with great undercards this is just a huge disappointment. I have actually cried a couple times but I go into the bathroom and shut the door so no one can see me

I don't criticise MacGregor. He's a cock, but no more than Bellew for example. And I don't Blame Floyd either.
How many cocks would you suck for 200 million? And he's a pussy for taking a piss easy fight at 40 years of age?
Do you know who I blame? YOU! And every single other fucker that talks about it , gives it relevance, pays for it, whatever!
