You often wonder why not charge a tenner and probably get 2 or 3 times more people buying it..... Surely that idea crosses someone's mind....
Anthony Joshua has been warned he is making a big mistake by putting on too much weight ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk by boxing legend Andre Ward.
Joshua, 32, relinquished the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight world titles to the Ukrainian last September.
Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight world champion, used his superior fight IQ to outfox Joshua, whom many felt had lost too much weight.
The Brit will get the opportunity to exact revenge on Usyk in Saudi Arabia on August 20.
Joshua has put on more muscle in the build-up to his second meeting with ‘The Cat’, a decision many believe he’s made in order to inflict more damage in the bout.
Like many others, Ward is looking forward to the rematch but he revealed that he wants the former champion to lose a few more pounds to give him a better chance of keeping his stamina in the latter stages of the fight.
In a reported interview with Max on Boxing, as quoted by BoxingScene.com, he said: “Man I’ve been trying to tell Anthony Joshua for the past six or seven years – get the mass off.
“Then you’ll feel faster, you’ll want to throw more punches and you won’t hit that wall midway in the fight where that blood fills up in your muscles and you can’t get the shots off.
“This is tough, I feel like Anthony Joshua is always this moving target, you know psychologically where is he at? Stylistically where is he at? Is he putting on more muscle mass, taking muscle off?
“All these variables sort of answer that question and we don’t have that answer.”
Ahead of the Middle East clash Frank Warren has also perhaps unsurprisingly chipped in with his two cents.
And despite wishing AJ well in the rematch, promoter Warren doesn’t think his bulking will bode well for him against Usyk.
He told Seconds Out: “I’ve seen all these photographs of how big Anthony Joshua has got, [he’s] got a new trainer, good luck to him.
“I hope he wins it… but I just feel that Usyk’s got his number and the big worry is that you can train, you can train and do all these sorts of things.
“You can build your body up but one thing you can’t do is you can’t put muscles on chins.”

Putting on too much weight will make it harder for him to catch his opponent, who moves like a cobra.
This is getting stranger and stranger.
i think the knockdowns to andy ruiz still linger in aj's mind & when the going gets tough aj seems lost. i thought aj would be able to fight aggressively & defeat oleksandr in the first fight but he failed to do so. i don't have much faith in aj doing so in the rematch
yes the KDs against Ruiz have spooked him and spooked him good.
AJ is not the same fighter after his first loss. He has lost his confidence and that doubt led to his timid performance against Usyk. He can rectify that by being aggressive, being on the front foot and using his size. I do not think he has much of a future in the division as Fury will ruin him.
I can see if AJ wins him relinquish the titles to take on easier opponents and prolong his career.
So totally true. If AJ wins, and of course he has a decent chance but not a great chance, I think he should take on a string of lighter opponents meaning easier opponents, and try to build up some consecutive victories impressively, to get his confidence back, if at all possible. He is a big huge young guy, a real Adonis. And if George Foreman could fight until the age of 49 effectively, how could a big huge young guy like AJ not fight for at least another 5 years?
aj has not been the same since the andy ruiz loss & his confidence is shook. even in that loss he was still aggressive after the knockdowns, i don't think aj is a walk in the park for oleksandr, it's still a difficult task, i'm just not sure aj can fight the way he used to anymore
Eddie Hearn admits that Tyson Fury is better than Anthony Joshua despite retirement
He went on to say: “If you asked me right now, who’s the best heavyweight in the world, I would say Tyson Fury. Pains us to say it but that’s facts.”
He then talked about the chats he held with Fury about signing him when he made his comeback before talking about the A-Side vs B-Side potential fallout: “Fury was always the B-Side commercially, but the rise of Tyson Fury in the last two years, like he’s put himself right up there.
“At the moment, on paper Tyson Fury’s the best heavyweight in the world. If AJ beats Usyk, it’s arguable you know, but like again, you get to a point, I think as they get older it’s easier, I think people just go ‘oh look, who cares’ AJ’s got in a position before when walk-in second and he’s actually one of them that goes “I don’t care, I just want to fight.’
“But, when two people don’t like each other, no one wants to give an inch and it’s so frustrating, like you know, it could be the changing rooms on the night ‘I want first choice of changing room’ are you f*****g joking? You’re getting 100 mil, shut up! Get changed in the car park!”

Few in history could beat Tyson
Just seen latest videos of Usyk - he is looking huge !
Joshua could be in trouble here
Usyk is not stupid
I'm Usyk I ko Anthony in 3 rounds HARD
Yes i am hoping for a great boxing display by Usyk and a KO win .
does tyson's retirement & the wbc's acknowledgement mean this fight will be for the ring championship & possibly lineal championship?
I don't like the bulk on Usyk. That often comes with a mentality either to withstand more or to fight more aggressively but I think he was near perfect frame and mobility 1st time around. Maybe that's reading into it though. AJ is bulked up like a Great Value Marvel superhero but hasn't shown the grit your teeth to dust free swinging fire since Wlad. But that's going to change under Garcia right? Riiiiight???
great news. will the wbc vacate their belt & add it to this fight like they did for vasyl lomachenko v luke campbell

the wbc has apparently given tyson until august twenty sixth to confirm his retirement in writing as definite. conveniently just enough time to see who wins oleksandr v aj
Could do with @Fenster to let us know about any value bets around this one and others. Miss his posting around here.
Where is he?
After Usyk beats Joshua for the 2nd time, I wouldn't mind a Joshua-Wilder fight being made after all this time. Not every HW fight has to be for a title, after all. I think many of us were left wanting to see a showdown between these two. It would be interesting to see the picks for that fight. First Wilder has to get by Helenius, though, which I think will happen.
Anthony Joshua, he believes his loss to Oleksandr Usyk comes down to the Ukrainian’s southpaw stance.
“I need adjustments to deal with a southpaw because to me these lefties are a nightmare,” Joshua admitted.
“I swear that if Oleksandr wasn’t a lefty I would have smoked him. One hundred per cent.”
This is not the first time Joshua has struggled with a southpaw, as he came up against the left-handed Roberto Cammarelle in the final of the London 2012 Olympics.
Joshua managed to emerge victorious and claim the gold medal, but it was anything but a comfortable victory, as he went into the final round down on the judges scorecards and even today Cammarelle contests the decision.
Outside of just lacking experience against Usyk’s southpaw stance, ‘AJ’ also admitted that he used the wrong tactics in the first fight and he will be looking to make major changes ahead of the rematch on August 20.
“It sounds crazy but I’m not going to lie. My objective was never to hurt him, to land damaging punches,” Joshua revealed.
“My aim was to go the full 12 rounds and prove I could box as well as he does. To land scoring punches.
“But I didn’t work hard enough to prepare for a 12-round fight at that pace. I wasn’t in the right mind-set. That of wanting to go in there and smash him.
“Using my size and power this time is evident, isn’t it? But to work on it is easier said than done.
“I do want to do him harm this time, despite all my respect for what he has done in the war in Ukraine.
“I do know that if I use my elements of height and strength I will have a better chance of winning.”

something that hasn't really been mentioned is the possibility that oleksandr could have improved for the rematch
Usyk gains too much or bulks up looking to "smoke" AJ, he could get caught early and good night Irene.
He's going to need to be even better. I'm near convinced he needs the ko or a major blatant shaft will unfold on the cards. They've literally declared AJ the billion-dollar franchise man going forward and Furys silly toe in toe out nonsense. Zero doubt that if it's AJ, Fury will come bobbing around the corner. Why wait until after the fight for wbc retirement.
Usyk is insisting this is round 13 and that may come back to bite him. I have backed AJ to win by KO here as a bit of a counter to so many Brits wanting him to lose because they are butt hurt racist twats, but I can see with my boxing head that is a long shot. I got decent value in a ko by 4 for AJ, disqualification for either, (which is super unlikely but value odds that more than reflect that) or a stoppage by either within 3.
All the bookies see Usyk as a overwhelming favourite and logic would see him build on the first fight and break an already fragile AJ earlier, but I think Usyk is going to try and stand toe to toe from the start and rely on his accuracy to win a firefight. I think that leaves him open to being hurt by a less accurate but more hurtful Joshua who nowhere near as shite as everyone is claiming. He is flawed but he is capable of much more than he has shown recently.
Should be fun whatever way the hammer falls. May the best man win... Or be disqualified for getting carried away (:
Usyk is going to make Joshua quit.
I can't believe his entire fight plan amounts to "go in there and smash him". He may well start the fight like that but as soon as he takes a big punch on his chin he'll back off and fight safety first. By halfway he'll be out of ideas and fighting not to get knocked out but will either get sparked, stopped or he'll just outright quit in the later rounds. I think the last of these options is a definite possibility.
Anthony Joshua: I'm coming back in here to overpower him.
Uncle Joon: Either come heavy or don't come at all.
Totally. AJ is totally spooked. Somebody mentioned that he might quit early, I think that's also a good possibility. But if he quits early that's the end of his career. There was some perception that he kind of quit in the first fight with Ruiz. When the ref wave did off he hardly complained and didn't look like he really wanted to be there. To be fair there was talk of him having a concussion from sparring.
Deontay Wilder predicts Oleksandr Usyk will "easily" beat Anthony Joshua in their world heavyweight title rematch on Saturday night.
My totally honest opinion is that it's going to depend on the fighters," Wilder explained during an appearance on the PBC Podcast. "A lot of time has passed and there's been a lot of time given to strategise for the second time around. They say when you fight a person you know him a little bit better the second time, even a little bit more the third.
"It's all going to be up to those guys. My heart says Usyk easily, he's got the momentum now and how he was able to do it the last time around. But this is boxing at the end of the day and you just never know how it's going to to end up panned out until the end of it. I wish them all the best of luck and I hope they get out of the ring just like they came in; safe and sound."

Anthony Joshua believes he can bring Tyson Fury out of retirement if he beats Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.
The British heavyweight will step in the ring in a sequel with Usyk on Saturday night at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia with the intentions of reclaiming his unified world crown. A win for Joshua could rekindle talks with bitter rival Fury who has retained his WBC world title despite binning the Ring Magazine belt as he ponders retirement.
Fury recently re-announced his retirement again in an official statement on his 34th birthday after failing to complete a deal for a trilogy fight with Derek Chisora. And Joshua has joked about Fury's purchase of a supercar and his dog must have seen him left "bored" without competing in the ring.
"Yeah I can bring him out of retirement definitely one hundred per cent," Joshua told reporters when asked if he still wants to challenge Fury if he defeats Usyk this weekend. "I think he will bring himself out of retirement because there is nothing for him to do.
"I don't think he has thought about life after boxing so I reckon he is pretty bored as there is nothing for him to do. You end up getting a dog and a Ferrari to keep yourself busy as there is not much else for him to do now. So yeah I think he will definitely come out of retirement."
Fury recently showed off the acquisition of a new Ferrari sports car worth £30,000 in a latest video aimed at Chisora requesting him to sign the contract. The 'Gypsy King' also bought a new security Rottweiler guard dog which will live with him and his family at his plush Morecambe Bay residence.
He announced that he would name the dog 'Cash' in a tribute to the millions he has made as a fighter, including in his most recent fights against Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder. Fury could have earned a career-high payday for an undisputed title clash against Joshua with the pair having signed on a bout agreement with both fighters set to pocked around £100 million.
However he was instead left frustrated after being forced to pull out of the deal and fight Wilder in a third meeting after an order from court. A fight between the British pair will likely still earn the pair mega-money and could be lucrative irrespective of Joshua's result against Usyk.
Fury most recently made an offer to fight Joshua for free, telling fans in an Instagram video: "I swear to God I hope he wins the fight against Usyk so that I can come out of retirement and fight him for free. However, the terms are these; I want it at Wembley stadium, I want it free to enter and I want it on free-to-air in television in this country. I'll fight him in England, not abroad in a foreign country for more money; here for free for the people."

how wild would it be if oleksandr fights orthodox?
I didn’t see the open workout , but I was feeling exactly the same after I heard AJ on one of the preview shows talking/moaning about “fighting lefties.”
The thing is good boxers rarely comment about the unorthodox issues of the opposition because they’re good enough to adjust and not make a big deal about it.
On another point, is it just me that thinks that Sky’s marketing has been a bit low key and underwhelming for this fight. I would expect it to be in my face 24/7.
I heard that Eddie said the other day it’s because AJ is a DAZN fighter. But surely you wouldn’t want to make a loss regardless?
All sounds a bit childish to me.
