I missed all these posts in my efforts to post on the Froch thread! ;D
JazMerkin, do you think the fight was officiated correctly? Did Khan deserve his "win" in your honest opinion? :-\

Did you see Dave Parris on prizefighter last night . Two fighters got cut so he should have stopped the fight and given it to teh man who headbuted them just to be consistant with his poor judgement

Technically yeah. But it would have been a different story if the headbutt didn't occur. I think most people including me (expecially Barrera fans) were expecting a JMM-JDiaz ending.. where the younger fighter was dominant in early rounds and gets schooled in later round by a great old warrior. The cut difinitely fukked up the fight.

I can see both sides to be honest. I thought that the cut probably did mean it should have been called a NC, but I've seen many fights where similar cuts have carried on. I do think Khan did what he needed to do though. If you look at it from his point of view, he shouldn't have to worry about Barrera, just as Barrera wouldn't if roles were reversed, he just needs to look at his own opinion, and at his age should take the best from it and move on. We can talk about the decision forever (as I'm worrying we might :-\), but the fact is what's done is done. Barrera clearly had a chance to stop the fight, but didn't take it, it seemed clear to me he indicated he wanted to go on, so these things happen.
I don't necessarily agree to the extent of Bilbo's views, but I don't agree with yours either. I also think the British sporting press has been a complete embarassment since with the pointless hype. I think that too many people including those on here, have let their partisanship blind them from the reality. Yes there was some poor officiating, and I think they should have either stopped it before or at least let MAB have another round, but they didn't and that's the way life goes. Dave Parris has a history of 'helping' Warren's fighters, he did the same in the Tszyu fight, letting Ricky basically wrestle him, and I don't remember as many complaints then. The home fighter got the breaks, it happens all the time in boxing, and this in my opinion was the case here, but it was not a robbery. Barrera had his chance to get out, and whilst I admire that he tried to take Khan out, he didn't take it and he knew the consequences. I think people holding it against Khan are being one-eyed, in no other fight do we expect the other fighter to be 'fair' to his opponent, and if the two fighters roles were reversed, no one would be concerned at Khan losing that way.
Re: Say what you like - Khan should never have won
Hell Jaz I was complaining about the Hatton/Tszyu wrestlemania. I basically called the ref a cheat for allowing that to go on and the same to Hatton for adopting that 'style'.
If Khan lost that way - well first of all I honestly doubt it would have made it to 5 rounds...Warren would have been bouncing up & down screaming for it to waved off long before he gestured to the ref....you certainly would have heard about it post-fight, the commentary team & the papers wouldn't have been kissing Barreras ass which is what happened toward Khan.
As to the earlier question about making a complaint.

Don King protests Khan-Barrera! | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7
Promoter Don King has filed a protest with the British Boxing Board of Control, World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association on behalf of Marco Antonio Barrera claiming his accidental clash of heads with Amir Khan during the first round of their match should have resulted in the fight being ruled no contest. The five-time world champion Barrera and rising 22-year-old British star Khan had barely begun to fight in front of a sold-out crowd of 20,000 at M.E.N Arena on March 14 in Manchester, England, when the two boxers’ heads inadvertently slammed together while trying to land punches. The accidental meeting of heads occurred during the second minute of the fight, opening a huge gash on the left side of Barrera’s head. The deep scalp cut began to bleed profusely and immediately caused a virtual blood waterfall to spill into Barrera’s left eye.....

I thought that too until i saw what Khan's gameplan was. To outspeed him close then leap away. Diaz pretty much went balls to the wall against Marquez and slugged it out with him. Khan was fighting a much smarter fight so he may have still won the decision. If they rematch Khan will win again with no controversy...until people flood here and say that Barerra was waay past it and should have retired.

I would guess that of all the opinions I have been reading around the forums, and I have been reading a lot, because this a fight that has mobilised my interest. It would seem that most people would argue that the fight should have been a NC. There are a lot of people upset about what happened in this fight.
And it shouldn't go away. Khan should be made to follow up after what happened against Prescott and stop running from that fight. Nobody is impressed by what happened against Barrera either (except the muppet media.). Khan and Barrera have unfinished work IMO, and hopefully Barrera will at some point have his chance to get it straight too.
Yeah it should have been stopped but i'm pretty sure if Barrera wanted it stopped earlier, it would have been. There is no way a ringside doctor or a referee would make Barrera continue into the 4th round so Khan gets the victory.
And what the hell is all that about? Should be made? By who? I mean give him chance. After being brutallly ko'd he took on a guy who took Spadafora to SD...and then he took the Barrera fight. Not really the actions of a man running from a challenge....especially when he is considered a prospect and not a contender.
And why would Khan get back in with Prescott until he is sure he has ironed out all the defensive issues that resulted in him getting ko'd. He'll probably fight Prescott again at some point in the future. If not, no big deal. There is no law that says you have to avenge all your losses.
Yours and Missy Khan bashing is getting beyond a joke now mate. It's every single thread. It's worse than Danny G's Cotto lovefest. I appreciate that you are both Barrera fans but dis-crediting Khan at every opportunity is getting boring now.
It isn't really Khan bashing though is it? I have stated over and over again that this fight should have been stopped earlier and the fight declared a NC. I am mainly attacking the referee and the doctor. I do not blame Khan himself for what happened and I have stated this on numerous occasions. Barrera was treated appalingly though in this fight and the officials quite clearly failed to do what they are being paid to do.
I did say that he should rematch Prescott, and again I don't see that as an attack. I expect all fighters to try and avenge their losses, sooner rather than later too. I even think Barrera waited far too long for the rematch with Pac. It would have been a better fight had it taken place earlier. Barrera had the right idea in getting an instant rematch against Junior Jones, that's the type of attitude I like. Even if you get it wrong, it's better to go down trying. Under Warrens wing Khan will likely be kept away from Prescott a fair while longer. That is a slur upon Warren and not Khan. And I maintain that Khan has unfinished business with Barrera who should be granted a rematch within the next year.
If Khan manages to dispose of Barrera, as it should be done and not as it was, then I will be VERY impressed. And as I keep saying, I wouldn't hold any grudges about it and will most willingly give him all the credit he deserves. If you look at my posting history, you will have seen that I am not someone who is unwilling to give credit where credit is due. Even if my fighter loses I am usually able to say, "fair enough, I was wrong. Well done". In this instance though, I find myself unable to do that. It was a sham, and I really cannot overlook that.
I wouldn't say this is on every single thread either. There are about 3 threads running around. This is the only one I am bothering with at the moment, so I can't be accused of saying this all over the place on lots of other threads. It might not be fun to keep hearing about it, but this is perhaps because you are a Khan fan and would like to move on. I understand that, but this thread started with the intention of saying Khan should never have won. It's only fair that people are able to make that case.
if your beef is with the ref's and the doctor only then nothing should stop you from giving Khan credit for his performance regardless.
There's nothing wrong with saying that Khan looked great and that you give him credit for being in there like that with someone like Barerra but you wish the fight would have been stopped earlier. Give credit to the fighter. It's ot as if Khan was supposed to say "Oh I headbutt you? Alright, knock me out"
If you have a problem not with Khan but with the doctors and etc, then why not give Khan any credit for his performance despite the headbutt. It's not like the headbutt forced Khan do well in the fight.
