Now they back him over Pwill? Really?
Is Pavlik's punching power and his size the best reasons people can come up with for why Pavlik will win? That can't be enough. In his last few fights, Pavlik's punches per round have decreased and Pwill's have increased. Pwill has a considerable reach advantage and is coming off of his best win (over a future HOF in Winky Wright).
I am a Pavlik fan. He his humble. He fights any and all comers and he is almost always in exciting fights. What is there not to like? Here, however, he is in over his head. As he showed in his last fight, Pwill is more of a natural middleweight than junior middleweight or welterweight and like I said in a previous post, his punching barrages remind me of of a poor man's version of Calzaghe. Masters of volume punching are hard to beat - ask Bhop and RJJ.
Not to be a dick but your wrong about Williams Footwork, its excellent along with his timing and rythm. He does move his upper body a lot too but all in all he is great movement.
You also picked apart my above post and tried to spin it toward kelly, just to end up posting Kelly is in over his head:confused::rolleyes:
Pavlik has looked less than spectacular for a while and he beat Miranda who was in his prime and Taylor who got outboxed and gifted against Cory Spinks and was troubled by Ouma. The writing was on the wall for Taylor he was there for the taking.
Just havent seen anything spectacular in a while from Kelly, he seems to be left behind while 168 is a hotbed and there is going to be a bit of a wait before Korobov, Jacobs, Lee, landa etc.are ready. Same for Williams I think 160 might be the ceiling for him so there are going to be a few fillers before those guys are ready to challenge.
Pavlik loses and goes to 168 imo
Fair enough. But the reason I "took apart" your post is because although I admire KP because he takes all comers - he isn't dodging people because stylistically they may pose problems for him - I believe Pwill may be the real deal. I don't think that Pwill beat him is as much of a knock on KP as it is that Pwill is a solid boxer. Your angle, and correct me if I'm wrong, was more that Kelly is a weak champion rather than Pwill is very, very good.
No I am a huge Williams fan and been saying for the longest time he is legit and going to be in the top 3 PFP discussion soon enough. KP is not in the same league of Williams as far as speed, volume, movement and athleticism.
KP will just be a steppingstone for Williams on his way to the top
Re: Pavlik & Williams agree to terms, will fight on October 3rd
It's funny I thought about this match-up again last night. I couldn't help but think Hagler Hearns. Williams a puncher with good boxing skill who is feared in the welterweight's and Pavlik a solid middleweight champion. No they are not on that level yet but just got me thinking about them.
Re: Pavlik & Williams agree to terms, will fight on October 3rd
Since when does PW have the power to KO Pavlik? This is news to me. If Hopkins couldn't do more than stun him with the barrage of shots he landed, Williams won't stop him.
Also, I doubt PW's reach advantage is going to mean anything because he never seems to use it. To borrow and often used cliche, he doesn't fight tall.
Re: Pavlik & Williams agree to terms, will fight on October 3rd
PErsonally, I don't think that a 1-2 puncher like Pavlik, even with his tremendous power, has what it takes to get down the punisher, i will go with William with a good battering and a UD at the key.
Re: Pavlik & Williams agree to terms, will fight on October 3rd
I guess we forget the slouch who fought Quintana in his first fight. That's the only thing I can think of with some people saying Williams will KO Pavlik. A bit far fetched for me.

I don't think Williams has the power to KO Pavlik, but with that being said JT did a number on him in the first fight, so he isn't invincible.

I certainly do not think Pavlik is invincible, I eagerly await the day I get to see him knocked out. However, Taylor hits much, much harder that Williams. There are no comparables between the two fighters.
Williams is there to be hit, he doesn't use hit height, and he doesn't have the power to keep Pavlik off of him. I just don't see him winning this fight and I see absolutely no way that he stops Pavlik unless he completely outclasses him and the corner/ref stops it; he won't seriously hurt him. I hope I'm wrong.

I am just curious why do you want to see Kelly knocked out so badly ?

I was being hyperbolic, but I do not like Pavlik or the people he surrounds himself with. It's as simple as that. Inside the ring, he's a very good, very exciting fighter and I understand why so many people are fans of his. I am simply not one of them.

williams has been pushing for a mega fight like this for years now and finally will get the chance to show his true potential.
Pavliks been cruising at 160 for far too long now and living off of the taylor fights. He got completely outclassed at 170 against a man who wont throw half as many punches as paul williams will.
I see a very good tactical contest that comes down to williams just being too slick and far too busy for pavlik to have any domination over. Williams to take a very comfortable points decision
Re: Pavlik & Williams agree to terms, will fight on October 3rd
I'm going Williams, I honestly think he is one of if not the top man p4p right now and I don't think he gets the respect he deserves! Looking forward to it though because Kelly is no bum, not by a long way!
