Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
Black, but not black-black, American Black, but from the Streets black, American Streets not African Streets, definately not Wesley Snipes black, Floyd Mayweather black. In Fact the Street Floyd Mayweather lives on black.
Ah I see what he means now. He thinks Floyd could beat Manny.
Why didnt he just say that? ;D

The article is about how Hopkins says that
Pac don't fight top black fighters, as in African Americans with that slick style. You know like the Ray Leonard style that B-Hop was talking about.
BTW, just in case someone brings up Lebwaba and
Clottey, they aren't african americans. And I think when B-Hop is talking about a top black fighter, he means black american.
I think the word "top" excludes Clottey even if he is as black as they come. He's Ghanaian btw for the person who said he was Nigerian.

Which I wouldn't put past him :-X
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
Anyone following Hopkins over the years would already realise he's an ignorant, paranoid funker.
He has said similar things about superior "black" (meaning slick) fighters before. He seems to think black American's have a built-in style which is clearly not the case.
He once said Lou DiBella was racist for reffering to Jermain Taylor as a "stallion" and a "kid" ... you have to laugh ;D
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
Didn't Bernard Hopkins avoid fighting Chad Dawson recently?
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
Wrong kind of Black for Bernards liking

Yeah but if anything Chad Dawson is too black for Bernard. Bernard wants to be the real black guy in the fight. Chad Dawson is Eddie Murphy black. Hopkins wants Nelson Mandela black.
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
PAC didnt fight Malignaggi at 140 either so he clearly wants no part of orange people either.

I guess...but Jean Pascal, that sounds a little French. When is Bernard going to fight an Eskimo?
Now you know Bernard gets upset in the cold.

Because Hopkins was trying to make money, not friends.... Can you Imagine how big a fight between one of the Klitchkos vs Mike Tyson would have been if Mike were still a game fighter? I know boxing fans will see two good fighters, but America will see a big Clark Kent White Boy vs a thuggish, bully, "black guy". (saying black for respect for the forum). But if it were an american white vs a European it would have been chants for "USA" all night. I mean several times Lampley on the air has called American Born citizens with Mexican heritage.. Mexican.
A lot of people, like Hopkins still believes in the Holmes-Cooney theory of a serious contender non-black vs a black will generate more money. That's why floyd was saying if he were white he'd make more money. Which is true. Because there are more whites in America, America was built on racism, and is held up by that same diseased backbone. So unless one grew up outside of the states I don't see why anyone thinks what Hopkins is doing is any different than HBO and promoters constantly putting the Mexican Fighters against Puerto Rican fighters. Or True Mexican fighters (the ones that only speak spanish) vs the American born English Speaking Mexican fighters. You see why so many people jumped on PACMAN as the MEXICAN ASSASSIN. The same way Roger Mayweather made his name because he was beating the Mexican fighters back then.
Anyone trying to deny that race plays into marketing certain fights, I admire and envy your naivety, but I grew up in the states and racism is clear and routine as breathing.

I think you are mistaking prejudice with racism.
Everyone is prejudice, meaning they like one thing or their own race better than another.
Racism is hatred and really not as common.
But surely the cross town rivalry isn't prominent in boxing, so it's cross race or nationality for promoting fights.

When you're prejudice against another race what's that called?
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
Prejudice is preference.
Racism is hatred.
HUGE difference. Everyone is prejudice, in race, in food, in culture.
Doesn't mean everyone is racist, and hates all other things outside of their preference.
A prejudice is a prejudgment: i.e. an assumption made about someone or something before having adequate knowledge to be able to do so with guaranteed accuracy. The word prejudice is most commonly used to refer to a preconceived judgment toward a people or a person because of race, social class, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, political beliefs, religion, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics. It also means beliefs without knowledge of the facts[1] and may include "any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence.
Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.[1] Racism's effects are called "racial discrimination." In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or receive preferential treatment.
Racial discrimination typically points out taxonomic differences between different groups of people, although anyone may be discriminated against on an ethnic or cultural basis, independently of their somatic differences. According to the United Nations conventions, there is no distinction between the term racial discrimination and ethnicity discrimination.
There is some evidence that the meaning of the term has changed over time, and that earlier definitions of racism involved the simple belief that human populations are divided into separate races.[2] Many biologists, anthropologists, and sociologists reject this taxonomy in favor of more specific and/or empirically verifiable criteria, such as geography, ethnicity, or a history of endogamy.[3]
Re: B. Hopkins: When will Pacquiao fight a Black fighter?
I hate okra.
What does that make me?... a racist or prejudice?
