Milmascaras, Hatton in his prime was better than Kastidis in his prime and Juan Diaz in his prime. Not even a question. Don't forget that Hatton did better against Mayweather than Marquez did. Hatton actually won a couple of rounds. Marquez didn't win one second of one round. Literally. I like Marquez too, but that was one crappy performance. No two ways about it.
What you're saying is that Marquez could beat Hatton at 140 or 147 now, yet at the same time, you say Pacquiao must come down in weight to fight Marquez. Explain that please.
thing is Pacquiao didn't beat Hatton in his prime either, only Floyd did that
But, Floyd didn't fight Hatton at Hatton's best weight. He fought him at 147. Pacquiao fought Hatton at 140. There were only two years difference between the fights with Floyd and Pacquiao and Hatton was coming off a strong victory over Malignaggi.

if Pacquiao was able to counter Hatton the way he did, Marquez would have done it just the same, only difference is he would have taken his time doing it and stopped Hatton a bit later around the 8th or 9th, no doubt in my mind
thats if JMM is himself at 140. If his timing is off and he is slowed by the extra weight, ricky could bully him for 12 rounds.
ummm did you not watch the Katsidis fight? Marquez was at 145 lbs on fight night, he didn't look any slower and his timing was definitely not off, he would wreck Hatton
Actually you are right I forgot JMM did weigh in at 145, therfor he shouldnt have any problem leaving 135 and fighting at 140.
What I am trying to tell you is Hatton may look shit now but Katsidis and Juan Diaz are a level below Ricky and the fact that Ricky is bigger and stronger.
JMM whooped Diaz and Katsidis that doesn't mean he'll do the same to Hatton. Different animal Ricky is/was.
and he did it effortlessly...at 37, Hatton was countered all night by a guy who's not a counter puncher in Pacquiao, Marquez is probably THE BEST counter puncher alive today, he would catch Hatton and counter him all night, he has a sturdy enough chin to take Hatton's shots, and he has the uppercut which Hatton has always been open for, it's not even in theory, Marquez would destroy Hatton, and yea he already released a statement saying he'd go all the way up to 147 to fight Pacquiao so he's not the one holding up a possible fight, that'd be Manny who's looking to fight Floyd's leftovers once again

Its funny cause your theory is that JMM is a better counter puncher then pac so that means JMM will beat hatton too. Well Floyd is a better counter puncher then all and even him didnt have such an easy time with Hatton before he did stop Hatton. We saw JMM fight above 135 once, granted it was against the best boxer (floyd) but he did not look as good. Your telling me JMM would go up to 140 and treat Hatton like he treated Diaz and Katsidis. Easy for you to say but would not be easy for JMM to do. How about we wait and see if JMM fight guys above 135 first.
Mayweather also fought Hatton when he was undefeated, and Mayweather is a defensive fighter so obviously he wasn't going to go in there balls to the wall trying to get the KO, if you wanna try and pull that shit, than in theory Mayweather should have no problem with Pacquiao seeing how Manny has never clearly beaten Marquez (in fact Pacquiao should be 0-2 against JMM) and Mayweather beat him effortlessly, he could have stopped him at any point by from round 3 onwards and didn't for God knows what reason, styles make fights, and it's a bit obvious that Hatton's style is made perfectly for Marquez, it's a guy who now just comes forward with little head movement and doesn't bother putting his shots together, it's not rocket science, Marquez would slaughter him
wow you're relentless, how often are you right with your prediction for you to be so assure of who would win. Specially the fact that JMM has not proven himself above 135. We are likely talking about two different Hatton. I am talking about the Hatton before he retired. Todays Hatton is shitty, he wont even make 140 again.
You mention that Floyd would do better against Pac since JMM did so well against Pac. You are totally missing the fkxcing point! JMM as good as he is has not proven himself above 135 and you are saying he would of beaten the lineal championg Ricky Hatton at 140!!!!????
Do you also think JMM can go up above 140 and dominate Cotto, up to 147 and dominate Clottey, up to 150 and dominate Margarito just because he did so well against Pac and Pac had done it?
Do you also think Pac has no chance of winning against Floyd because when JMM fought Floyd at 144 JMM had zero chance in winning, so I guess everyone should think Pac has zero chance against floyd too right genious?
are you seriously that dense? ummm i'm not even gonna bother with you Julius cause you do the same fucking thing time and time again, you nit pick bits of info trying to build up a strong case for Manny, yet when someone knocks it down, using the same info you provided you pull in random bits of bullshit, you said it yourself you're not a boxing fan, you're a Pacquiao nuttlover, to each his own

Sadly you begin to remind me of that clown. I had more respect for you til you believe JMM could of just gone up to 140 and take out the lineal champ there Ricky Hatton with ease, just like what he did to Diaz and Katsidis. You basically said Diaz and Katsidis are at the same level as Hatton. You also believe Hatton wasn't in his prime when Pac fought him, prime or not the man was the Lineal champ at 140 at the time. Also Floyd didn't fight Hatton at Hattons division. Floyd made him go up at 147, where Hatton had look shitty. Now if Pac goes up and down divisions and makes his oppenent look shitty there is a big fuss about it :o
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
Hatton looked like crap after Floyd stopped him, he struggled against Lazcano and IMO didn't look all that stellar against Malignaggi, hell he was already starting to look like shit before he fought Floyd with weak performances against Collazo and Urango, either way i know Pac fans aren't trying to pull the whole "oh but Floyd fought him at 147, Pacquiao did at 140", well same thing can be thrown at Manny, Floyd beat a more capable DLH at 154 (not at 145, 147, or at 150) and Manny beat a shot weight drained version of the same fighter, again going back to my main point, seeing how bad Hatton has looked since losing to Floyd, and especially how easy he is to hit and counter now, IMO i think Marquez would have destroyed him just the same, Hatton's style plays perfectly for JMM, and yea sorry Julius Hatton right now is on the same level as Diaz and Katsidis, i see no way in hell he'd beat anyone of the top 3 at 140, i wouldn't be shocked if Maidana or Ortiz topped him at this point

JMM would have made Hatton look daft. Hatton couldn't deal with punches in combinations. He has no way to stop them. Little head movement, little defensive awareness. Marquez would have destroyed him at 140, just like Pacquiao did. Maybe Hatton can make it interesting for a little while, but i'd give it 4 or so rounds before Marquez started teeing off on Hatton's oversized head. ;D
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
exactly my point, Hatton's style (especially the Hatton that Pacquiao destroyed) is tailor made for Marquez, he wouldn't get the stoppage as quick, but that's cause Marquez takes his time, but seeing how Ricky is so easy to find and is so damn sloppy now, Marquez would win and by KO

Hatton is retired so the point is moot. I'm one of the few who is not a Pac or Floyd nuthugger. When Hatton fought Floyd at 147, Marquez was fighting at 130 against Rocky Jaurez. In fact, to this day, although he's had the chance, Marquez has not fought above 135 again after losing to Floyd.
I agree with you Hatton's performances against Collazo and Urango were weak too. I'm not sure he was any worse against Pacquiao than he was against Floyd. Floyd may have broke him, but he was there to be taken. He had looked like crap in his two forays above 140 and I think he was on the slide for a while. You can't balloon up in weight and party extensively between every fight and expect to be able to fight at the top level especially as you get older.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
rant,
you're not a pac nuthugger? then what was that man pubic hair dropping out of your mouth!!! :lickish:

Hatton's always been like that anyway .He's too careless to deal with anyone as accurate as Marquez. Marquez can match him for output and work-rate so there's not really a single thing in Hatton's favour, other than size. Even then he wouldn't be massively bigger.

yea but he used to at least have good upper body movement, decent footwork, and put his punches together a lot more effectively, since his second "reign" at 140 well he hasn't really showed any of that, in all honestly i think Malignaggi would make it a closer fight in a rematch now :-\, so imagine what Marquez would do

Definitely hurt him twice.
One right hand had with 2:06 remaining on the clock had Mayweather hanging on for dear life and then another right-hander round the side of the head (temple shot?) landed with 1:16 remaining on the clock which this time completely disorientated Mayweather, therefore it appeared to have hurt him more.

Eamonn Magee floored Ricky Hatton, and hurt him a few times. And he was a counter pucher who was quite accurate, and that was when Ricky Hatton was fresh. And JMM is leagues above Eamonn Magee just think about that for a second.

yea but he used to at least have good upper body movement, decent footwork, and put his punches together a lot more effectively, since his second "reign" at 140 well he hasn't really showed any of that, in all honestly i think Malignaggi would make it a closer fight in a rematch now :-\, so imagine what Marquez would do
Eamonn Magee floored Ricky Hatton, and hurt him a few times. And he was a counter pucher who was quite accurate, and that was when Ricky Hatton was fresh. And JMM is leagues above Eamonn Magee just think about that for a second.
oh i know, that's why i'm saying that Marquez would have destroyed Hatton, even at 140

I resent that. I appreciate Pacquiao and I'm a fan of Pacquiao. I can be a fan and not be a nuthugger. In no way do I believe Pacquiao is above reproach. As a leader of the sport I enjoy, I want Pacquiao to fight the best challenges out there. Right now he is cleaning out the welterweight division. I can appreciate that to an extent, but I, for one, believe Shane is passed his best and there are better opponents out there for Pacquiao. As you have seen many times in other threads, I want Pacquiao to face Tim Bradley.
