He may not be cut like he used to be but how do you explain a 48 year old throwing more punches against stronger world champs than he was fighting nearly 8 years ago?
Like I said, look at James Toney!
*Correct me if im wrong, but wasn't toney using to bulk up... not really the same thing with Hopkins... Hopkins body looks like an older in shape body. He's not doing anything he wasn't doing before. The guy is a known gym rat and eats right. He's walks around at fighting weight... he's not on PEDS..he's still the same ole boring Hopkins.
p.s... i alway said Lance armstrong is on PEDS... and i'll always believe Pac is on something as well.

What he said^^
Out of all the boxers out there today Bhop is the last guy I would suspect. Its like accusing Archie Moore.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
MMA, Randy Coutre etc etc has squat to do with boxing or specifically whether or not Hopkins is doing peds.
Why someone like Hopkins is suspect is beyond me.
LOL
There is nothing in a career spanning a quarter of a century to suggest that Bernard Hopkins is juiced. The Mongoose must have been juiced along with Dixon, Wilde and Greb. No way does Babe Ruth hit a ball like that w/o chemistry.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
Exactly, there is nothing aside from him being so freakishly effective at his age to actually suggest he's on anything.
To use his punch output as evidence is especially ridiculous imo. He threw more punches against a plodding dope in Tavoris Cloud than he did years ago against Jermain Taylor.... So what? Who on earth wouldn't? Great case work as usual from detective Ross:rolleyes: Taylor was faster than him, it really isn't that complicated. Those fights we all saw him throw very few meaningful shots per round compared to most of his recent wins around that time as well. The only time there was ever a striking physical change in Hopkins was after losing to Taylor and moving up to 175 in the first place. And guess what, even then he didn't throw much because Tarver had quick hands.
Now of course you can never rule anyone out in this day and age, but the fact is Hopkins is as skillful and meticulous as anyone out there and he wins fights on account of it.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
Who likes to defy the nay sayers more than anyone in boxing?
Wo refused to take a test when asked in a press conference?
You are all naive. I remember saying something about Amstrong cheating on here before it all came out and it got the same gullible response. About how hard Armstrong works and he takes tests blah blah blah.
If that has shown us anything it is how easily dopey naive sport fans can be duped. It wouldnt surprise me if like Armstrong with his charity work and Holyfield with his religion (and Jimmy Savile with his charity work;D) that Hokpins repeating in every fucking speach that he doesnt drink, doesnt smoke, always trains and has turned his life around is a smoke screen so dopes say, "well he wouldnt cheat would he?"
Yes he probably does train all the time and doesnt drink or smoke but how many other athletes live like that? They aren't ramming it down our throats every time they open their mouth, like they are trying to brainwash us with an image. He is an admitted convicted criminal after all.
Until he tries to prove otherwise I believe he is taking something to maintain his training just like Holyfield is.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
I was out of line on my last and apologize to Couture, though everything I said I believe to be true.
Actually, MMA and boxing are twonsports which require a physciall toll on your body, and one which you're allowed to beat another man legally.
And have the same testing regulations as boxing does state to state in the US.
So there very common and easily comparable, whether you want to argue it or not.
Also, Couture and Hopkins, are both two professional athletes (professional "fighters") well above the age of 40 who both won world titles and broke the record of old age.
Again, if you fail to see the similarities and why they are comparable...
If you don't think "someone like Hopkins is suspicious",or the suspicious hold no merit. It's obvious you have not read the discussion, add no value to the argument.
If you don't think there is anything in the last century that might suggest he is doping, again, you did not read a thing and are quite frankly in the wrong sport (s) all together.
Anyone who is suspicious of any athlete juicing is warranted, does not mean ANYONE IS DISCREDITING THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
I hate steroids and wish they weren't a part of the game.
But, no it's Hopkins, he could never do any wrong..
I swear its like little kids defending their older brother with a blindfold..
LOL at complaining about bringing Randy and MMA, into a discussion about drugs and regulations, and talking about Babe Ruth...

Haven't you heard?
You can't be suspicious about athletes getting a little extra help these days.
Because Moore,Greb,Foreman,Jeffries,Johnson, and even Ruth didn't.
No one can.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
If you won't even acknowledge the possibility that your favorite athletes are using PED's, particularily a guy who is damn near 50 and is quicker and has more stamina than guys half his age, then you're a fool. Plain and simple. Not saying he is for sure, not diminishing his accomplishments, but it's a real possibility with ANY athlete.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
Oh, and about this complete FALLACY that guys using PED's are the ones with hard bodies, take a look at these guys who were busted using steroids in MMA.

IN the last pic, the guy in blue (Royce GRacie) produced a failed drug test that was actually the highest the athletic commision had ever seen.
So look at those guys, and tell me that a guy gets a pass because he doesn't look big or ripped enough

Even if he is taking stuff, and he probably is, he's still an amzing fighter and a freak of nature.
Would high altitute training be comparable to Blood doping or the results won't even come close? As for HGH well I'm not sure. I'll just say this, like you the only boxer I know isn't juicing is Donaire and perhaphs rigo (for the simple fact he was so dominant in olympics for a long time that I highly doubt he'd start juicing now for no reason.)
If high altitude training was the same as PEDs the world's elite athletes would be training year-round in places like Mexico and Kenya. Instead they're all taking PEDs. Look at Pistorius; lots of high altitude places to train in South Africa and he's ot a bottle of synthetic testosterone in his bedroom. And he's never failed a drug test in his life even with year-round random testing.
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
It wouldn't surprise me - I think PED use (and I mean stuff like EPO, blood boosting, gene therapy, not just old fashioned injections) are rife in many sports.
If you can get such institutionalised doping in something like cycling or weighlifting, where they have very strict testing, just think what could be out there in siomething as unregulated as boxing or MMA
I also have dark suspicions about Novak Djokovic (allegedly)
Re: No one else even a tiny bit suspicious about Hopkins?
Hopkins fights effectively without fighting aggressively, he feigns punches without throwing punches, he blocks and parries punches, he fights in spurts, he has ring craft that bewilders these young fit athletic fighters who should beat him. He has amazing ring skills.
