As bad as the HW division has been, the division itself can't afford to drag out potential big marchups. Ortiz will definitely get an immediate push.

yes he's taking on szpilka, which I think is as good as an opponent wilder will take on for yet another voluntary defence S:...........
This was for the interim wba belt so I assume ortiz will be in line to fight the winner of chagaev v browne and then eventually fight for whoever owns the real wba belt at the time
Looks like Jennings was riding high...a little too high after his "impressive" loss against. He thought his same approach would work for him. Didn't work out that way. Almost no head movement at all.
Chagaev vs Browne is like a C- level fight, Kong vs the winner would be a total waste of time. Kinda doubt Wilder will be in a hurry to sign for this one, though it would be an awesome fight. Hard to know what should be next for KONG. Whoever he fights, he should definitly shave his head and wear diaper style drunks, then crawl during the ringwalk with an enormous rattle. If I were his promoter I would double his purse to do it.
El Kabong asked recently who we thought would give Tyson Fury the most trouble and I said Ortiz.
Thats because Tyson has said it himself. Not that he would give him the most trouble specifically but that hes in the who needs him club. Very good but would not generate big money. Tyson has had his eye on him from afar.
Nice fight. Ortiz is a classy fighter & on that performance is right up there.
I wouldn't give chagaev or Browne much chance against him. As far as natural talent goes he may be the best heavyweight on the planet. I think a povetkin vs Ortiz fight would restore everyone's faith in heavyweight boxing
Ortiz was impressive (as far as heavyweights go). Two weeks in a row we've had good heavyweight fights. Amazing.
I expect Wilder and Fury's mob won't go near him with a barge pole.
I thought Jennings would have eked out a decision in this one. But Ortiz has power AND tremendous skill. Something you don't see much of in the HW division anymore. I guess if we want to have real, birth-born heavyweight champions, we have to look outside of America with these manufactured heavyweights and look to Latin America, the Caribbean and some parts of Eastern Europe.
I don't think Wilder would be able to take Ortiz IF Wilder has been struggling with the likes of guys like Duhappas and Molina.
The problem with cuban heavyweights is while in Cuba they are poor and live and breath boxing. As soon as they leave Cuba they seem to over indulge and not train. Ortiz is gifted but he still looked lazy last night. He could have stepped up and taken Jennings out early but was happy to have breaks with Jennings leaning in on him.
Because of how bad the division is, we see Ortiz as this fighter with great skill. Remember that Jennings is very raw and isn't much of a fighter. Ortiz is probably one of the best in the division but still isn't by any means great.
He kind of resembled the comeback version of Holmes in a way. Only with devistating hands and a mean streak. Ortiz pummels the soon to be ibf trinket holder, be it Glazkov or Martin.
