Re: Who is next for Canelo?
Sounds like they be having trouble coming to financial terms now with Hearn :-X. Maybe we need to take a step back and ask who's really being over paid and over guaranteed. But that can be said about so many "stars" now, and I realize it's called prizefighting. This may play out as a case example as to what happens when you toss multi millions...just an example...at an Andrade or M Garcia to fight mediocre opponents. Same applies to the Saudi lotto bags. There really are no Kings in boxing and super A side also comes with a shelf life. Meanwhile we have 101 top contenders sitting idle behind these log jams centered around the belts etc.
The wba came out to clarify that now Berlanga is only mandatory for Morrell but not Canelo. What a circus.

"Mike Tyson lashes out at Canelo Alvarez: This is a shame for boxing and for Mexico"
Add another one to the list of former fighters that are bashing Canelo. How many more indictments do we need??
What other high-profile fighters have been raked over the coals as much as Canelo?
Surely this can't all be coincidental. Nor can it be some kind of conspiracy against Ginger. This is a groundswell of public opinion on Canelo from some very knowledgeable and experienced people, including ex-boxers.
What other champion, Mexican or otherwise, has gotten this much hate for blatantly avoiding another fighter, while maintaining he's "the best"??
Every time one of these new criticisms surfaces, I can't keep from grinning from ear to ear. Ginger is getting what he richly deserves.
I know he doesn't give a shit. He's rich beyond his wildest dreams.
But might as well forget all that deluded ATG bullshit. Nobody's buying.

just the usual negotiations. canelo has got to a point where he can demand the guarantees he wants. dazn have the right not to invest in those demands. i see it as a good thing & maybe a slight correction of over paying for fights nobody wants. david b has one fight left on his contract with pbc, so i'm good with jaime being next in line, unless david m wants to cross the proverbial street but still being with pbc i don't see that happening next. canelo v jaime is a good fight & will do big business
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
rumour is that pbc could still be in the mix to do canelo v jaime on prime

sounds like canelo v jaime has been confirmed for may fourth on amazon prime
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
So he left for a few days and came back to the dreaded Pbc. Probably the best head feint he's had to date ;D. And Benavidez just made his last fight with Pbc. Bottomline is if Canelo wants this fight, and it's ordered by coddling alphabet boyz then it happens. And he even has David draining down at 90 days for Sept and under contract renegotiations :vd:. Canelo can't even announce an opponent 3 months out these days. The whole thing is a giant circle-jerk. Canelo v Munguia is a runner up and not the one we wanted-needed.
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
Ok wait... so help me understand here. So does this mean that Canelo is ok with fighting Mexicans again? It's all a bit confusing, because when Benavidez's name was first being thrown around... Canelo said he wouldn't fight fellow Mexicans. So did he take that back? I'm confused here. Isn't Munguia Mexican? Maybe Canelo meant "I won't fight fellow Mexicans that could beat the shit out of me", and the quote was inadvertently shortened. I mean, it could happen, right? Didn't he fight that human mummy (JCC Jr) some years ago? I mean... that's as Mexican as you can get, right? Oh yeah, that's right. He's a BEATABLE Mexican. That's the difference. Damn. I keep forgetting that Canelo's opponents are always picked at HIS convenience, and only when all the chips are stacked in his favor. Silly me. It's just that I've always been used to fighters throwing caution to the wind in that regard. So today's Monday, and Canelo's ok with fighting Mexicans again. (Gotta try and keep up with this shit).
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
Maybe that is why Canelo joined DAZN so he could beat up fighters from England.
Makes perfect sense now.
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
I reckon it'll be back to the good ol average Euro white fighters for Nelo again....White fighters who have racked up score of wins against other other less than average white fighterss and few guys from Africa (Probably one of those African brothers trying to cross the English channel on boats) and the odd Mexican cholo.
For most of his career he's been sh*t scared to fight black fighters, and even when he did fight a blk fighter (Charlo) he was a blown up light middle. Benavidez ? Erm...no...he's not white enough. Nelo would have had heart attack if he was around 30 years ago and had to get through RJJ, Toney, Benn, Eubank, Nunn, Watson, McCallum, McClellan

Another thing I have noticed why are most boxing movies about white or non blk fighters ?
Vinny Pazienza ended up getting the shyt beat out of him by Roy Jones Jr but even he got a film about his life. I was not even ten minutes in the Roberto Duran film and they got him as a kid knocking out black kids and they segue to his early boxing career as an adult and they got him ONLY knocking out black dudes. Micky Ward, same thing, 2b fair Micky have an interesting story though...but its always the same hard-luck, inspirational type story. Where is the Tyson movie ? That's been in the works for dam near 10 years !!
I guess having a white or non blk hero, particularly one who beats up Black people during the movie, is an easy way to get greenlit and a $50M+ budget in Hollywood.

To be honest , he’s made it look pretty easy. None of them have given him much of a fight.

Canelo beat Jacob’s didn’t he? He was black last time I looked. And Lara. ??
Is Creed black?
What about the guy who does the voice for Mufasa? He played a black Boxer didn’t he?
Genuine request, stick to analysing Boxing cos those posts you do are brilliant, knowledgeable and insightful.
If you wanna go full on race , put it in other topics.
Sometimes you have a point, I’m never going to say racism doesn’t exist, even in Boxing.
The problem is because you go so overboard, nobody bothers to listen.

canelo is going to do what canelo wants to do. no one is forcing david b to move up. i said previously that it's a built in excuse for david b if he loses, if the fight eventually happens & david b's already talking about going to cruiser if zurdo wins

when did you start taking what a fighters says as being written in stone & fact? if that were the case tyson, teo & shakur would be retired & you would have to take all the excuses for fighters failing drug tests as facts as well. you can pick through every top fighters record & find instances where they didn't throw caution to the wind & took easier fights

Re: Who is next for Canelo?
Piggybacking off Denilson's comments, without the racial component...
Truth is Canelo's always been scared shitless of fighting ANY opponent he deems a threat. Specifically a knockout threat. Exceptions? Sure. Bivol... who became a glaring exception to this rule, because he represented another weight division trinket for Canelo to grab. Odd... he didn't go after Beterbiev. Hmm...
Canelo's habit of reaching for a new weight trinket, only to run scurrying back down... is curiously something people stay away from discussing. Why the fukk is that? I wonder. Is this a taboo topic? Hell... it's there in black and white.
But back to Canelo being scared shitless... Canelo's worst nightmare isn't being outpointed by an opponent. Shit... he's an automatic leg up on anyone he faces in Vegas or anywhere else in the Southwestern United States. You literally have to knock Canelo out to get the nod. Bivol was a prime example. He schooled and shut out Canelo... and was almost robbed.
(Continued below)
Re: Who is next for Canelo?
Canelo, aside for the marinated, weight drained, over the hill, or undersized opponents.... has always feasted on mediocre or underachieving British opponents. That's where the bronze Canelo statue should be erected. This is why many British fans consider Canelo even more than an ATG. Canelo owes more than he could ever repay to the British. It's not about race, as Denilson claimed. It's about a style of fighter that Canelo feasted upon.
I'm long over being accused of being a Canelo hater. Guilty as charged. Anyone who wants to get me a plaque on that is more than welcome.
But I'll continue asking another question I've always asked.
Why is it only Canelo with the extreme hate? Why not JMM? Why not MAB? Why not Morales? The answer is painfully clear, and I've shouted it from the rooftops since Day 1.
In my opinion, the final nail in Canelo's public image coffin was his blatant, unabashed, shameful ducking of Benavidez. But he saw fit recently to ask Badou Jack to drain himself of 20 pounds, to fight for some bogus "cruiserweight title."
Why is THIS also swept continuously under the rug??
FUKK CANELO.
And yes... I accept the nomination as president of the anti-Canelo club.

canelo fought rocky fielding after back to back fights with ggg & followed by danny jacobs. canelo moved back down to fight danny who was the ibf middleweight champion & was coming of fights against ggg, luis arias, maciej sulecki & sergiy derevyanchenko in his last four fights, all who were undefeated before fighting danny. canelo fought sergey kovalev immediately after fighting danny jacobs in a three belt middleweight unification, moving up two divisions to fight a current world champion, then moved back down to fight callum smith, an unbeaten champion & seen as the number one guy in the division, to begin his attempt to unify the division, which he did within an eleventh month span. canelo then fought the number two guy in the division above him in dmitry. then came back down to fight ggg & john ryder, who he was contracted to fight. ggg was a three belt unified middleweight champion & john had earned his mandatory position & probably should have already been a champion. it's all been discussed before & is just boring for me now. for someone so against canelo you sure talk about him a lot. if i'm not interested in a fighter i'll barely mention them. there are plenty of good things in the sport to focus on like the really good otabek kholmatov v raymond ford fight that just occurred & the intriguing, competitive fights on the aj undercard this week
