Do you honestly have such a poorly functioning brain? If Shane was accused of the same thing people would be expressing their shock and disappointment just the same. Mexican fighters are among the most respected out there so I think your talking, well...........shit, again.

Re: Doctor Robert Olvera exposes Tony Margarito
What is with all the hatred on this site lately. Some people on here cant differenciate facts from opinions or rumors. Thais sh@t needs to stop. A couple people "think" Margarito did something illegal, so therefore he did? Even if he did cheat, it is still inexcusable at this time to jump to conclusions. The guys reputation is at stake and for the years of battles he has given the fans we owe him more than that

A couple of people think he did something illegal??? Thats hilarious. How about the Commission, a doctor, and the opposing trainer? Do they mean anything? What Margarito did is being belittle! Has anyone making comments for Margarito ever boxed? This is the worst crime you can commit in boxing!!! Margarito was one hand away from getting away with this. One hand was already approved and Nazeem came in during the second hand being wrapped and noticed it was too bulky and then notice it was hard as a rock. Thats when they noticed the approved hand had the plaster in it also. That one hadn't hardened just yet that is how he got away with that hand. Had he timed the second plaster as to it still being soft then he would have gotten away cleanly. You have such a high rate of ruining someone's career and even health in this way. People do die from boxing, why the hell should aiding the chances, illegally, be taken lightly in any kind of way? For those who haven't boxed and are trying to defend Margarito why don't you spar an experienced fighter with plaster in their wraps. Thought so. Now imagine doing this in a fight and the gloves are even smaller. It would be brutal. All the opponent would have to do is land punches and they would be more damaging than your flush shots. Margarito and his camp need fined and suspended!!! But I am sure he will only get a slap on the wrist because Mosley didn't get to lose his health because the wraps were caught before. Thats like slapping someone on the wrist if he only put a hit out someone and the plan was foiled only minutes before it was carried out. I used to be a big Margarito fan but as a boxer of 17 years, this makes me sick to my stomach.

IF he really did it, then yes he should be under fire for it. The commision has not made a statement as to their findings yet.. and I am a professional boxer so yes, I completely understand the risks, its a disgrace for any fighter to cheat. If any intentional wrongdoing is proven and he actually did put plaster in his wraps then he should be criminally charged and banned from boxing. Your misunderstanding me. Im defending his right to a fair investigation. As for now, its nothing more than accusations. They could prove to be true, they could prove to be false, lets wait and see before passing judgement.

Re: Margarito caught cheating?
I'm jumping in a little late here, having been away from the forum for a week or so. But I saw the fight, and in reading a lot of the posts here, I'd want to state the following points:
1. It was a hell of a fight, regardless of the controversy that has ensued.
2. Props must be given to Mosley. In all the handwrap talk, it tends to get lost that Mosley put together the fight of a lifetime. He had the perfect plan, and executed to perfection. All of this at 37 years of age!
3. I'm happy for Mosley. He's the perfect gentleman, and I've always been a fan of his.
4. I'm sorry for Margarito. He's always been a gentleman also. Until it's proven that he did something wrong, he should be given the benefit of the doubt. But if he or his handlers are proven to have cheated, they'll deserve whatever punishment they get and it'll be a sad day for boxing. And it may cast a reasonable doubt on his previous big victories.

Re: Margarito caught cheating?
Why do people keep crying about the cotto fight... there would of been people from Cotto's camp + someon from the NSAC in there during the hand wraps, if he used something surly they would of caught him. If they didn't, then Cotto has idiots in his camp and had it coming. I don't agree with cheating in boxing, but you send people in there during the hand wraps to MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
Sounds like the Cotto fans are grasping at straws. + if he had cheated Cotto's dodgy jaw would not of lasted as long as it did... come on, he lost coz he tires late and has a weak jaw.

Re: Margarito caught cheating?
I really think tht Marg did cheat against Cotto, Cotto has a great chin and has taken more solid cleaner punches in the past, for example Zab Judah. Cotto was not able to stand in front of Marg and push him back because the punches were hurting him too much too early, especially having his nose broken in the 2nd round? Come on I watched Daniel Santos fight Marg and take his best right hand clean and not get hurt at all. If u look at all the facts Mosley hit Cotto a couple of times with the same right hand and Cotto was never in serious trouble. Does Cotto have a better chin then Marg? maybe almost as good, but since moving up to welterweight Cotto has been tested , but never in trouble or seriously hurt in any of the fights until he got hit wit some hard plaster by a guy who has never had knockout punching power. Fact is Cotto took Mosley's shots and went the distance, Marg didnt last 9 rounds and was seriously hurt in the 8th, whos to say tht he didnt use something to numb the pain from the heavy handed Cotto who hits harder then Mosely. The facts are obvious Marg is a cheater and Cotto deserves answers!

wow sorry but your comment suggest tht you dont know boxing, Cotto is an extremly strong boxer and has a great chin, since when did Margarito have the punching to make a fighter like Cotto, who is the best fighter hes ever fought besides Mosley, actually be pushed back like tht? Marg was getting whipped by Santos and never hurt him even after landing some clean hard shots, Santos does not have a better chin then Cotto. Margarito has never broken some ones nose in 2 rounds and ive seen my share of Marg fights, people are just mad cuz he finally got caught and then to top it off got knocked ouy by the guy who lost to Cotto, so u figure tht one out! Also in reguards to the hand wraping, Cotto's trainer is a rookie in this sport and like in the Mosley fight didnt even see the complete wrapping of Margs hands, the Neveda commision will never admit to not paying attention to Margs hand wraps cuz they would be held accountabe unless they can find those wraps and test them too then they will have no choice to admit tht they werent doing there job! Cotto has never gotten tired in late rounds because he is evidently a strong finisher, Marg saw tht he couldnt hurt Mosley without the wraps so he got beat up if he had the wraps he woud have knocked Mosley out with the few ounches tht he hit him with, but hes a cheater and thts a fact, Cotto is a true champ who beat Mosley and was never hurt!

Re: Margarito caught cheating?
If Margarito is found guilty of loading his gloves for Shane, I think it casts a HUGE shadow on his win over Cotto....
I dont want to hear any crying from Tony fans either. If he was able to legitimately knock out Cotto why would Tony think he needed to load his gloves for Mosley??? Since the Paul Williams fight Tony has knocked out all opponents but for the Shane fight he decided to load his gloves out of the blue because his previous streak of knockouts werent spectacular enough??? If (and that is a big IF since he hasnt been found guilty yet) he is found guilty I would assume he started to load gloves after Paul Williams fight...
Hopefully ALL trainers will pay more attention when watching opponents get their hands wrapped now...

He has taken some horrific shots at 147 and has only lost once....he's got a lot better chin than people give him credit for

He's innocent until proven guilty but right now he has a LOT of explaining to do and the boxing commission needs to let everyone in on the details...this should be done out in the open so no shady fucking deals can be made to keep Margarito active (if he's guilty).
Margarito needs to be suspended until this case concludes and it needs to be done expiditiously because if he really is innocent then there is no need to keep Tony out of the ring but if he is guilty then he never needs to be allowed to box ever again and his trainer needs to have a life long suspension as well....if guilty of course.

Cotto at 140 had a pretty weak chin, true it was from being weight drained, but he ended up having a decent chin at welter, the main great thing Cotto has is he recuperates quickly and has good defense when hurt

ElTerrible... normally a fighter with a weak chin does not improve with a change in weight. That Cotto was weight drained at 140, that's 100% correct. But I think he gets a bad rap for his chin 'cause he got caught cold in a couple of his fights, most notably the one against Corley. He also got rocked by Torres, but remember that Torres is heavy-handed and throws bombs.
I also think that, when Cotto decided to go back to his smart boxing style and stopped trying to KO his opponents in the first few rounds, he also lost his tendency to get caught cold with counter punches.

Welp,I have to over simplify this one,Sort of answers itself. One was obvious and a proven fact.Tony has never been a one punch banger, all volume and physical pressure.Stronger than Cotto....and the latter is not a certainy and up to this point,boo-koo speculation and yet to be proven in stone.
I believe as of Tues both Margarito and trainer are under suspension pending official findings.
Innocent until proven guilty....indeed!!Though,lately....seems a bit turned around by some.Guilty until proven innocent.

Re: Margarito caught cheating?
Dont know how many saw this last night on ESPN 2.Gives Shanes perspective and a bit of Margaritos.First Ive heard that the wraps were brought into Mosleys dressing room (?) or area and Mosley saw them first hand...no pun intended.Did he say they were soft and looked 'regular' ???...honestly,corner should have kept him out of it...concentrate on the fight.
This commision needs to get off the pot and come to a conclussion already!!!

That in itself is the saddest thing, in most peoples eyes he is already guilty and no matter what the findings are most will never see him in the same way, Tony's reputation is scarred forever and although now he has been cleared of any wrong doings in the Cotto fight, it will now carry an ansterik on it.
Those are the reason why I was calling to have Nazim Ricardson apologize to him and his trainer if he was found innocent, because this ruins his whole career and I still have a lingering feeling that this whole thing was done by Ricardson to throw Tony and his corner way off focus.
Whether because he was guilty or because he was worried about what the hell was going on, I think its safe to say that from the opening bell Tony was not focused on this fight, the commotion threw him off of his normal fight plan. I dont take anything away from Shane on an incredible performance but a focused Tony would have been a way more competitive fight.

Yeah pretty damn sad,the damage is done.BUT....I cannot really blame Richardson,he was looking out for his interest, his fighters welfare and stirring it up a bit.Finding and exploiting every advantage for his fighter, getting into Tonys head. This sport is about 75% mental afterall. Its apart of having a oppisition camp member over seeing the otherside.Ultimatley the responsibility falls on The comission and I just want the facts to come out already and be done with this, whatever the case.

What? Nazim Richardson was just doing his job. He saw something irregular and pointed it out. He wasn't trying to bring this on Margerito. Whether it turns out that Margerito was loading his gloves has nothing to do with Richardson.

I still think it is stupid for you to say that Nazim should apologize. He did NOTHING wrong and Margarito had something that he shouldnt have in his gloves anyways.

Completely agree with you! If Tony is guilty and was trying to cheat I am in full compliance of whatever ruling and punishment he gets, he deserves whatever he gets; BUT if he wasnt guilty and this was Richardson just playing games...I think this is too much, you dont do this to a fighter to get into his head.

Dude, you are completely missing the point. Richardson was just pointing out that the wraps were wrapped in a prohibited fashion. I am sure he had no idea that Margerito had plaster/or something that looked like plaster on his knuckles.
