wowzers in me trousers..... 5-4 for canucks... edmonton equalize at the death and it is waved off or is it :S....
sequin was apparently a bt of a wild man in boston though.... if it wasnt working there then boston made the right choice for everyone.... seguin seems to be going great after this! good trade all round i think.. although if there is a winner then it is dallas and sequin
For sure he seemed like a meathead, but when you have a guy who's probably going to be an Art Ross candidate for the next 10-15 years, you have to have a bit more patience. He was a 20 year old kid suddenly making millions of bucks, he just needed some time to mature I think.
^Fuck what a brawl.

Here's a brutal story too, Jack Johnson is filing for bankruptcy after his parents borrowed nearly 15 million in his name. Fucking hell. The guy's 27, in the middle of a 30.5 million dollar contract and he's broke.
You'd think you'd be able to trust your own mother, but I guess not in some cases. Sad story.
I agree when I heard about the trade I thought it was great for dallas but then I read about sequins character and so on.... I think it's really impossible to say, sometimes it takes a big kick up the arse for a player to realize what is going on and what their potential is.. I think sequin needed a big kick and would never have made it if he stayed in boston and a trade is what he needed, so the trade was great for everyone involved... Although it is really hard to say .. it is definently possible the bruins could have eventually got him on track..
montreal -boston on tv now... i really hate boston
17 goals in 22 games for Seguin so far. Looks like he might break the coveted 50 goal mark. He's on pace for over 60.
Loui Erikson is a bust and coming no where near the numbers he put up in Dallas, Smith had a great season last year but is struggling this year. Looking more and more like a brutal trade.
Seguin is top class, I had him on my fantasy team last year, he is going to be great if he keeps on track !
He's alright!
I saw something on reply the other day, did like a shoot from the mid section and scored! seen it?
Yeah it happens every so often, sometimes the goalie is caught not paying attention, sometimes the puck takes a weird bounce or tip, either way it's always hilarious.
My favourite ever was Vesa Toskala letting in one from 200ft back. I was watching the game with a bunch of leafs fans at the time and their reaction was priceless.

I had an atrocious game last night...should have had a hat trick but couldn't find the back of the net to save my life....my rebounded shots went off the goalie, my one timers were amazingly stopped or missed. I had a one timer in the crease and skied it over the goal....couldn't have hit water if I fell out of a boat last night.
Oh well, now for consolation games and preparing for next season
Well finally ended my goal scoring drought last night. I wish I could have said it was in a win, but we lost 9-5. The only real reason we lost was we had a wet behind the ears goalie and only 6 skaters against a team with a full bench (at least 12 skaters) and a good goalie so a 4 goal deficit isn't too bad at all.
My goal was pretty, a nice little one timer right through the 5 hole....boom!
Had my last game of the season last night/this morning (finished up around 12:00 AM). I scored another goal, I won a lot of good faceoffs, but the one thing that really pissed me off was the game went to a shootout, I had the goalie dead to rights with a deke and to his credit he stretched out and got a strong paddle on my backhanded shot.....hell of a save really and on such a beautiful move.
The team I played against last night will be the team I am playing on in January so I think that bodes well. They have a great goalie, good solid defense, and hopefully I can keep making progress in my game....I shook a few fellas out there with some nifty dekes and dangles.
You guys know what time of year it is..... WORLD JUNIORS!!!
What a beast Voracek is, I've been watching the Flyers and him and Giroux are just money together, it's pretty much a 2 man team now with Wayne Simmonds showing up periodically.
What is the spengler cup? I see they are playing hc davos stadium and it has jokerit from the khl playing canada just now :S Who are these canadian fellows on the team ? Doesn't look good for the khl when these canucks are beating them.
Also I hear ovechkin is off to the khl at the end of the year, good move for everyone i think, big long contract and not really being a huge superstar to justify it.. Ovechkin doesnt seem so happy in the nhl anymore and the crapitals could use the cap space.

The Ruskies don't make players like they used to. Ovechkin is a decent player as was Kovalchuk but they aren't the players Russia USED to produce Federov, Bure, Molgilny, Larionov, Makarov, etc. Those dudes were bad as hell. Pavel Bure was one of my favorite players when I was growing up.
Great bench-clearing brawl from the '87 world juniors, Canada vs Russia

My winter hockey season starts up this Tuesday night, I will be playing for a new team (one with a few more ringers ;) ) and hopefully we will be ready to compete for the cup.
I've got my sights set on a hatty for the first match...I will of course get disappointed if I don't score, but I really just hit my stride at the end of last season.
#98 in your program but #1 in your hearts!
Canada wins a nail biter in the world juniors and breaks the drought!
Lost a close one in the first game, I notched an assist but that was just about it. I skated well, we had a good full team and we hustled, just have to hone our chemistry a bit and we'll be set.
Next game coming up Sunday vs a team we really should beat, I was disappointed not to get a goal the last game, but I'm going to really gun for it Sunday....see if I can't get 2-3 in there
Been watching The Don Cherry Story on Netflix....good old Grapes, what an institution that guy is. Love him or hate him he's a lively dude.
Won last night 4-2. I scored the goal to tie things up and that really shifted the momentum of the game. I got an outlet pass on my blue line, there was a forward just turning to skate backwards, I deked him and skated past, I then was 1 on 1 vs a defenseman I deked under his stick, squeezed between him and the other d-man that was collapsing down on me, ripped a shot off that went 5 hole and lit the lamp.
I had a few passes which should have been converted as well, gave a beauty of a centering pass that the goalie luckily stopped the shot on.
Ooh thats embarrassing hahahaha, he knew it and just ran off.
I've had my moments ont he ice but at least I've never done that.....hahahaha poor fella
Lost our game 4-0 last night. There was a guy for the other team who kept diving...flopping on the ice like a fish and my team racked up 22 penalty minutes....over an entire period of 4 on 5 hockey :shakehead:
Good news is I got 0 penalties and I got to blast that diving piece of shit two different times, I just ran him over.
Big win last night 4-3, I had a garbage goal. The puck was nestled right in front of the goalie's skate but under his pad so he couldn't see it. I got to the crease and was thinking "You're not going to cover that???" and was like "OK then" I picked the puck out and swept it in through the 5 hole. I really should have had more goals though, the goalie made a big save one time on me, then I lost my edge and took a spill another time, and one other chance I had I was looking for a pass when I should have turned and shot.
I felt great on the ice though and that's important
Brodeur is finally retiring and taking a behind the scenes job with the St. Louis Blues.
Mike Richards cleared waivers lol
Ovechkin becomes only the 5th player in NHL history to score 30 goals or more in his first 10 seasons, behind only Bossy, Gretzky, Kurri and Gartner. What makes it even more amazing is the fact that one of those years was a shortened 48 game season (32 goals in 48 games), and thinking all of the amazing goal scorers who weren't able to achieve that feat - Hull, Lemieux (would have done it if he was healthy), Howe, Dionne, Esposito, Jagr, Yzerman, Messier, ect ect.
Especially doing it in an era were goalies are so much better, pads are bigger, and is generally tougher to score.
Huge trade between Winnipeg and Buffalo, I was hoping the Sens would make a play for Kane but it is what it is.
Apparently Kane was in the dog house with the team, he showed up to a team meeting wearing a track suit instead of a real suit (against team rules) and big Buff threw all his shit in the shower haha.
Won our last game 4-3, I had no points, but should have at the very least had an assist but the dude I passed the puck to shat his pants instead of just easing the puck into a relatively empty net. I had this beautiful tape to tape pass diagonally from the slot over to the right hand side of the net....all the puck needed was a clean tap to go in and the guy fanned on it after he accepted the pass. Oh well, a win is a win. I did have a few looks at net, but the goalie made some good saves....also it had been about 3 weeks since our last game. We're 3rd in the league right now, tied with the perennial league leaders who are having a shitty season for some reason.
As for the NHL, I WOULD normally be excited about the trading window and all but the Hurricanes won't be trading anyone of note (maybe Tlusty....maybe) because of the cap hits the teams would have to endure. Cam Ward and Eric Staal are just getting paid too much. Same with Jeff Skinner who hasn't been himself recently. And Alexander Semin is just GARBAGE. What is the deal with some of the Russian players being so fucking flakey? You look at the first series of Ruskies to come over and they were extremely good: Federov, Bure, Alexander Mogilny...great players, great...then you get guys like Alexei Yashin, Maxim Afinogenov, and Ilya Kovalchuk.....fucking WEAK that they can't play their best in the NHL. All the talent in the world, but they are flakes....Ovi is pretty damn good though....wouldn't say he's better than Federov was though or Bure when he was healthy. Both those dudes could FLY on the ice! And that was well before getting rid of the 2 line pass.
Semin has always been streaky, always had an attitude problem. Shame for a guy so talented. Alexei Kovalev was the same way, probably had more talent than anyone in the league but was so mediocre for the most part. At least Carolina will have good odds in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.
Lots of hype around Connor McDavid, people are saying he's the best prospect to come around since Crosby 10 years ago. Full package with hockey IQ at an advanced level.

Well come on Canes lose your asses of and draft that kid!!!
Kovalev was an amazing player. Sooooo smooth on the ice. But like I said flakey Russians.

They've spread the %'s out this year for the draft which brings the last place team's chances from 25% to 20% and gives more of a chance to teams ranked 20-25th. Carolina are sitting at 9.50% and the Sens are at 6%, neither team is making the playoffs so yeah, best to lose every game from here on out and pray you get McDavid, who seems to have the makings of a legit superstar and potential game changer for some lucky franchise.
